Yeah, it was great having you here. I really want to thank you to coming out to our events. There is actually going to be KoF on Friday too. A lot of people on Dreamcancel said they are good with Friday nights now that Comic Odyssey is closed, so we might be getting more of that in too. Too bad this happened just this Friday and not before. Just in case you can't make it tomorrow: good shit, and take care man. -

So I guess that means I'm just getting Glod tomorrow. I'll see if Fatbird is interested in coming. -

Friday is gonna see our second Blazblue tournament. That is the main event. Skullgirls, as always, will be on the side. Depending on the numbers we might run that too. Two new groups will be showing up on Friday for the first time: Dreamcancel and those Guilty Gear players we met before. We are going to try and accommodate both groups, so the main games will probably be BB, GG, and KoF. SG is going to take second priority because people already get a lot of it on Tuesdays. Unfortunately I'm gonna have to request we not mash any random fighters from this point forward. This means no Vsav or Melty or the like. We need to make sure we have both room and time to get the bigger games out of the way. Depending on what happens Friday and how many people show, it just might end up being "just play whatever fucking game you want" anyway. Jinx, I posted on Dreamcancel, but I'll repeat it here just in case you see it here first: I talked with Frank about having KoF as a regular thing at Box Sessions Live, he said we could give it a shot. We're having a tournament on Tuesday, the 15th. Going by the Skullgirls example, if that does well, KoF will start getting stream time the week after, and if it doesn't then it'll just be forgotten. Get hype and make sure to let people know whats going down on Tuesday. -

Solution finished. I will have a Accent Core setup that should be compatible with ps3/360 sticks, te or otherwise, on Tuesday and Friday. -

Flatscreen MONITORS are probably going to be ok. I'd even say that ANY monitor would work fine provided it had composite inputs. They're monitors designed for computers, so they will more likely to have acceptable levels of lag that are unnoticeable, because they need to keep up with the computer's actions. Flatscreen tvs, or hdtvs, whatever you want to call them, are completely different. They are designed with the assumption that you will be watching things on them, not using them for anything else. What matters in that situation is whether things look pretty or not. Almost all hdtvs will lag badly, even when set to the most basic settings with all extra stuff turned off. This is because they have a hardwired post-processing of the signal, which is already lagging because its digitial, so you end up with dogshit. We need a CRT TV or a computer monitor that accepts composite cables, and in the latter case we will still have to test it to make sure it doesn't lag. Like I said, I am working on another solution. Might not work out though. About the FB group: Yeah we can talk more on there I guess. We pay more attention to this thread because we know a majority of the people who show up every week have accounts here and pay attention. Not everyone here has a FB account, so we can't use FB to the exclusion of this thread. Hell, the FB group originally was supposed to consist of new people we picked up from Box Arena or just random dudes who saw our advert on their stream or at Frubble. So far as I can tell, none of that really worked out. I'll try to post more on the FB group but it seems kinda redundant since the only people using it are people in this thread really. -

Doesn't mean it does a good job of it. Word is that one of the reasons why backwards compatibility was pulled was because not even Sony knew how to emulate their own shit properly. I've heard that ps3 is a suboptimal platform to play GG on, and whenever I see it being played, its always on ps2. The ps3 apparently makes it lag from what I've heard, even if you don't have upscaling or any fancy stuff on to fix the aspect ratio. I can ask when we go on Tuesday if they have a CRT monitor lying around. They might actually have one, who knows. Additionally, I am working on another solution. We'll see how it goes. -

I think we are getting ahead of ourselves even with that lineup Glod. Blazblue and Skullgirls are going to be games we are ALWAYS running. Blazblue because all of us play it, and Skullgirls because it is a sub game for several of us and it brings in new people, which is extremely important if we don't want to be double booked anymore. That said, with our conversation with those GG players outside of Tajima, having GG be part of the lineup that is always being run is a really good idea, provided we actually get people for it in the next session or the session after. We also have to address the tv problem, since ps2 isn't gonna work with the asus monitors we all bring with us. I like KoF, and beyond Blazblue it is the only game I take seriously, but the issue of getting enough people to play it is there. Moosejaw's friends will play, and I will play, but I only think its worthwhile if we can get the other KoF players down here who go to comic odyssey to show up. I'm going to discuss this with Jinx on Monday if CO is a go. I also don't know about Arcana Heart. It seemed to have a decent enough amount of people on that station last week, but if we want to run it more seriously, stations will become a big issue. We already tend to have some issues with what stations are Skullgirls and what stations are BB, I don't want to exacerbate that problem by adding Arcana to the mix. Remember, we don't want to go fifty different directions with what games we play, especially if it leads to nobody playing our main game, BB. I think we should stay more focused, it seemed like last night we were a bit all over the place. My plan with the Kusoge setup was just to have it running after the tournament(s) finish so that people can goof around on games like Jackie Chan or Karnov's. This didn't really materialize on Friday because we ran two tournaments one after the other rather than simultaneously. Running tournaments simultaneously is my go-to plan from now on. Otherwise we end up running shit till the very last minute, and I think everyone would appreciate having a few hours to play casuals and dick around. Its at this point that I'd say just play whatever game you want. Anyway, thats all I have to say about that. Now I'm gonna post the results from our tournaments on Friday. -

I was gonna shit talk Ichi a bit for not showing up, but if you're sick, then you're sick. Hope you get better bro. As always, good shit tonight guys. Moosejaw, we figured it was cause you guys wanted to actually sleep while it was still night time so you all went home, its no biggie. Yeah, our matches were crazy. That was honestly the most fun I've had in Skullgirls since it came out. Having all the guys from the Arts Institute come out and participate really helped out. I really hope they continue to come to our meetups. So, we met up with a bunch of people at Tajima who were like "yo, you guys go to dustloop?" Turns out they play Guilty Gear and would like to get together to play it next week, so get hype. Its really exciting to see how much this scene is growing. Running those two tournaments tonight was really fun and took all our time. It'll be pretty crazy adding GG to that mix. I'm really happy about that. Lets keep growing the scene and make it into something we can be proud of, and of course, brag about to other scenes. Dana, as punishment for not knowing how to use chopsticks, you must watch this video all the way through: -

I only have the Asus. No component on it. I'm not sure but I think Glod's might have component, and I'm reasonably sure it doesn't lag. If thats true we can use his. -

Cool, thanks Shtkn. Yeah, steaming is obviously not going to happen, but I just wanted to see if we could get recordings going. We've talked about it for a while, especially when we have shenanigans happen on screen. I figured now that we're having a tournament, now would be a good time to give it a shot. Haki, thanks for grabbing Dana for me. -
For all of you in Cali who no doubt don't pay any attention to the San Diego thread, I'm reposting this here for you: We are having our first actual Blazblue tournament this Friday, May 4th. As demonstrated by our Stylish Unlimited tournament we had last time for shits and giggles, we now have enough people to run a reasonably sized bracket (15ish), so now we are going to actually have a legit tournament with cash on the line. Rules are standard fare: - $5 entry fee - Pot is split 70/20/10 - Best 2 out of 3 games - Grand Finals best 3 out of 5 games - Double elimination - Winner must keep character, loser can change - No Unlimited or Stylish this time (sorry guys) Registrations start when we all show up there, which is usually at 7PM, tournament will start at 8PM. Venue: Frubble‎ 9628 Carlton Hills Boulevard Santee, CA 92071 http://g.co/maps/jh9rc If any of you can, I implore you to please make it out and support the SD scene.

Watermelonz couldn't come to Tuesday. I'm pretty sure he is coming on Friday. Also, for anyone lurking this thread but hasn't posted, is from someplace else, etc I'm making this announcement formal now: We are having our first actual Blazblue tournament this Friday, May 4th. As demonstrated by our Stylish Unlimited tournament we had last time for shits and giggles, we now have enough people to run a reasonably sized bracket (15ish), so now we are going to actually have a legit tournament with cash on the line. We'll be having another tournament with the same setup the week after, Friday May 11th, and so on until we don't have enough people anymore. If at all possible I'd like Shtkn to break out that Hauppage and record some games on the May 11th tournament, since he isn't going to be present for the one this Friday. Tell your friends, tell your parents, tell your kids, tell bums you meet on the street. We want as much turnout as possible to these things. I've posted in the Socal FB group about it, but considering how uninterested they've been in our casuals, I wouldn't count on them showing up. Maybe cash money will change their minds. Last thing is, the owner of Frubble informed me last night that we were double booked with some religious group two weeks from this Friday, which should be the 18th, if I understood him correctly. So be prepared to be a bit more low key that night. See you this Friday guys. Get hype. -

I'd prefer if someone else took care of Dana's ride this week since I'm already bringing several people. Dana, PM me your address. If nobody else posts saying they'll get you, I'll come pick you up.
