Watermelonz, since it might be pouring outside by the time 6PM rolls around would you like me to come get you instead? -

I'd like to know the reason why. I mean, some of those games are things that are obviously going to occur in the future, like Persona and the GG re-release, but in my mind that is no reason not to put the word out now so that people know where to go in San Diego to play them when they hit. Alternatively, if he is worried that saying we play game x or game y won't get turnout to our event, that's nice but what are we going to replace them with? The whole point that this is a Dustloop thing, so it makes sense to advertise the games discussed here. Its not like we're gonna add something like Marvel to our lineup which none of us play in order to get more people who, in turn, will not play the games we actually care about. If we do want to drop something, I'd say drop Vsav since though they have a forum on this board, we haven't really interacted with that community (if it even exists here) so I can see why it would seem presumptuous of us to add it. By the same token, if we want to include things like KoF or Melty, we should probably ask around at the sites dedicated to those games to make sure we aren't stepping on anybody's toes. Though personally, since I actually play KoF, I'd love to co-opt it. But remember, the Box Arena isn't the one who is decides what we have at our event, which is what the poster is meant to advertise. Ultimately I say leave it as it is. EDIT: Watermelonz, I'm assuming you're coming Friday. Can you let me know if Buddy is coming too? -

I like it, I think its fun. But I can definitely feel the strong MvC influence in it and I am not a fan of that. I probably won't play the game seriously. -

Yeah, tonight was pretty slick. Even if we aren't getting that much cross pollination we will definitely be getting our name out there to get more recognition. Dios, I was at CO but didn't get a chance to play you. I just wanna say thanks for posting here and checking out BB at CO yesterday and Skullgirls at Box Arena tonight. You're welcome to come by on Fridays man. Fuck me I'm tired. -

Alright, sounds good. Probably won't need the xbox though, I recall Frank saying that they preferred ps3. -

Awww yeah, this is what I like to see. New people coming out from the woodwork. So Frank replied to me and here is how things break down: 1. We get the spot next to the pinball machines that we occupied on Friday. 2. We were told to bring three stations, two for actual gameplay and one as backup. 3. It doesn't matter if we can get 8 people for a bracket or not. What he wants is a Grand Finals match on stream. 4. We need one person to commentate and talk about the Dustloop community on stream. I think we can all agree that Shtkn is best for this. 5. No arrival time is specified, but he said that he gets there anywhere from 6-7. So I say we come at the normal time, 7PM. I'm pretty excited. -

So I emailed Frank, emailed Ultrachen, and mentioned that people should come down on Tuesday on the SoCal BB FB page (which seems very dead.) We'll see where this goes. -

Under optimal conditions we have: Me, Haki, Glod, Shtkn, Ichi, Roa, Watermelonz, and Buddy. So thats eight core people. We also have three people who were with Watermelonz at Winter Game Fest at UCSD that will hopefully come eventually, two people who posted in this tread a few times but never showed up, at least two people who asked about Guilty Gear and never posted again, and we have you and another person who have posted because they may be moving here. So we could potentially have seventeen people based on this thread alone if people move here/decide to show up. Additionally, I am sure there are random people scattered about in SD who play but don't know or don't show up to our events, and of course there is DS, if he ever gets a car. We've had people come down from LA a few times in the past and are trying to do so again in the future as well. But as far as the owner sees, its just 8 people. Makes me wonder how many people the Box Arena gets. -

So the owner emailed me back. Says were good for tonight. But he also said he double booked and will continue to do so till our crowd gets bigger. I don't know what else he double booked, but I am surprised he made that decision after us being there only twice. I thought the FB group was a good idea to try and grow our numbers to prevent being kicked out but it seems its a moot point now since we've already lost the primacy of our spot. I still think we should do the poster though. Watermelonz and Buddy, I ask that you get to my place at 6, cause I am leaving myself half an hour to go pick up Glod then a half hour to get to Frubble. This is assuming you still need me as a ride though. I am displeased. -

I'll email the guy tonight to make sure we're set up for tomorrow and I'll let you guys know. I'm sure we're good though. Watermelonz/Buddy, I need to know NOW whether or not you plan on coming. Glod, I'll come get you. PM me your address or wherever it is you want me to pick you up. Tell me what time you'd prefer me to get you as well. -

So I haven't heard anything else about CO. So I'm gonna assume its not happening. I'll stay home playing Armored Core 5 instead. -

Glod, PM me your address and I'll come get you at around 6:30. It usually starts at around 7. However, I've heard from another guy who usually goes to CO that there isn't gonna be any tonight. Plus, people on the SD facebook group said there was no CO. But I am not sure if this means there is no STREET FIGHTER at CO, or just no CO period. Jinx, please confirm. -

I'm back in SD now guys. If any of you want to show up to CO tomorrow, let me know so I can bring a setup. As far as I know it hasn't been canceled. Ugh, now I need to learn how to play this game again. -

Scene has less people, they have to be more active to make up for it I guess. We have casuals at Frubble on Fridays from 7PM to 12:30AM. We'd be more than happy to have more people around. We look forward to seeing you. EDIT: Btw I posted about our sessions in the BB Socal Facebook. We might get more people at the next few sessions. -

If any of you were planning on coming to Xie's Rebel Up event, don't bother. Super Arcade canceled it for whatever reason. -

Roa: Change the "Dustloop San Diego" red to a brighter one or a different color, it really doesn't stand out and is difficult to see compared to the background. Cut out the bottom part where there is a line and the colors change. There is nothing there. The poster should end after where it says "and other games as well." In stead of "we cater to" blah blah blah, instead say "We play games like" -logos- "and more!" I think you did a very good job so far though. DS: I'll be going, but I'm already in the OC area so I can't give you a ride. Maybe Haki can take you, if he feels like coming. -

Glod: It usually starts at 7PM. https://maps.google.com/maps/place?q=Comic+Odyssey+of+San+Diego,+National+City,+CA&hl=en&cid=5373770670792729648 Theres a link to them on google maps. Roa: Call it Dustloop San Diego. We're specifically catering to people who play the games on Dustloop, at least for the time being. Don't say anything like "no capcom games" or anything like that. Just keep it simple and highlight what we actually DO play, not what we don't. Go ahead and do the poster too, but let us see the final product before we go plastering it around. And last thing, none of this gets off the ground till Shtkn comes back, since he is the final authority. Last thing, to everyone: On the front page of DreamCancel, I saw a newspost that linked to a recording of James Chen and Ultradavid talking about "other games" or lesser played games, their communities, and how to build them. Apparently they have their own little talk show thingy, and they regularly do shoutouts to various communities trying to get more recognition out there. So, I was thinking I can send them an email and suggest they try and mention that SD does in fact play Blazblue, Guilty, MB, and others at Frubble on Fridays. What do we think of this idea? I think it might actually catch some people who don't bother coming to Dustloop at all, yet still play those games. -

Regarding SC players: I am fine with co-opting other communities, SC included. Judging from what Ichi mentioned, giving them a "home" so to speak, would probably be a great boon to their scene. The thing is though, if we're gonna co-opt one community, we might as well do it with all of them. I don't want us to just be like "oh you guys are cool cause you don't play SF4 or Marvel," and then tell those other two groups to fuck off. Being outwardly resentful like that will not look good in the long run. I think we should try and keep it at just Dustloop games for now until we get a reasonably good turnout. Once we start getting a decent amount of core people then we can open it up and say "hey guys, come to frubble on fridays and set up whatever game you want, everyone is welcome!" That way, we won't have a small group that will be further diluted when other games appear. Remember: I plan to post on the SoCal BB group about it once we all get back from break and can start making it out again. I'm sure that will draw a least a few people. Maybe. ...probably not. -
