Does this mean I can knock her down and she can still ask Asterius to uppercut me to the stratosphere?

I dunno, that start-up looked pretty damn long and Kanji seemed stuck in that summoning animation. Then again, maybe that was the long, non-SB version and others are faster. EDIT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t40r-BdSick Damn Chie, your Yun lunge has some mighty fine distance to it (nearly half the screen).

Block and then 5A or 2A? Depends on where it stops. If it stops right in front of you on block, then mash that 5A. What's Kanji going to do to punish you for it? Run up? If it stops behind you, then it might be trickier. You'd need something that has a hitbox behind you. Also, that shoulder check is only immune to projectiles. A light melee flick will break him like the rest.

From the sound of things, it seems like they want the Shadow versions to be their own entity and not just some "Unlimited" form. They got their own sense of gameplay style and from the look of things, are hardly broken. Kinda like how EX Characters worked in GG except these would be tourney legal.

Added, she's an archer. There's not much flair to be had when your entire option for it is "Shoot magical arrow" or "Shoot more than one than 1 magical arrow". Naoto's kinda the same in that regard. Outside her ability to punt you across the screen, her supers are all about the practicality of shooting you many, many times over.

Wait, regular Agidyne (C/D) have only what, 5 pillars was it? Could they be utilized this time for something else? I remember that typically in P4A you never should throw out any version of Agidyne unless it was the SB version.
-
I only heard her new super requires level 6 fire. Level 9 is just another way to say "Yukiko can now melt your face off even faster than before". Ironic considering her name carries the word "snow" in it.

Because another one of the messages was that death, while inevitable for mortals, is not simply an end but rather a transition for them (hence the arcana and their meanings being used to influence the narrative in some small way). And I'll repeat, I never said that P3MC should be revived. Rather that if ATLUS wanted to, they could revive him very easily (though not necessarily in his human form). The narrative ain't going to suffer simply because Lizzie accomplishes what she set out to do and since she's not human, the concept of a mortal's life and death are not exactly best applied to her. I remain happy with the changes made so far with Lizzie, though am keeping myself from being too swept up in it. She definitely looks better during that loketest footage but then again it IS just a loketest. Her final standing may not be anything like this after all. Still, I like what I see so far.

Not that I know of. *Crosses fingers for instant activation of SB Mahamaon/Mamudoon*.

Clearly you do not read many fanfics . Fanfics usually take some very...big liberties with the source material so that they can go do their own thing. Though ATLUS should tread carefully since they claimed Arena was canon for P3/P4. Not to put a damper on your theory (which I kinda like save for the brainwashed Pharos/Ryoji) but .

They seem to be building Lizzie up as the kind of character who can awaken "safely" and on command. Current Mind Charge does not take as much off her health as it did before. She's also been given an increase in HP (8000 from 7500) and when awakened, her Diarahan heals more and is faster. She's still her gimmicky self from before, but now is just much more dangerous with them and benefits the most from awakening than other characters.

Hmm, Yukari seems to do very little damage on her own. But makes up for it by controlling space very, very well. That Garu Orb reminds me of u-12's 236A. Also, Take-mikazuchi shoulder check is hype as...oh wait this was SHADOW Kanji. Alright, then that Take-mikazuchi shoulder check is FABULOUS as shit XD. EDIT: Is it just me, or did Shadow Kanji simply not go into Awakening at all even when he hit very little health? If that's so, it seems that Shadows can only have a max of 100 SP and must rely on Shadow Fury to do all that meter damage but it is also possible they can use the Awakening skills right off the bat. This argument gets tossed around like it has some kind of debilitating illness. You have a world where characters can shoot themselves with a magic air-gun to summon a supernatural representation of their inner psyche. A world, where robotic automata can develop human feelings and super-special people can jump inside a TV screen to punch other people's inner demons away. And this is not including the otherworldly 3rd powers like Elizabeth and Igor who can one-shot kill manifestations of all the world's collective subconscious by tossing it to the moon. And that's disregarding Philemon and Nyaralthotep. So if you have all of this, how is it a totally unacceptable stretch that Makoto/Minato/P3MC might be revived? If anything, I'd argue that if this subject doesn't get addressed, then it trivializes Lizzie's actions in P4A.

Most likely, Naoto's is an indicator of how many rounds she has left before reloading needs to take place. Shadow Naoto's is probably a reference to how it manifested as a raygun-toting robot. The gauge is likely to function as an overheat mechanic, meaning Shadow Naoto has to stop using the guns to let them cool down before using them again.

Shadow characters are "evil" versions of the current existing characters (sans Elizabeth and two Labrys) that have a different style of play when compared to their parent character. Some of their changes include: -Starting the round with 100 SP. -Retaining SP between rounds. -Cannot use Bursts. -In place of Bursts they have Shadow Fury which lets them have unlimited use their SP meter-based skills for a time. -Individual character properties may differ from the parent version of that one character.

Is it asking too much that I hope ASW fixes Megidolaon? Not in the sense to make her instant kill viable, but more along on the lines of actually working when it is triggered. There was so many instances where I should have had the opponent caught in it but they wormed out by being in neutral stance or in the case of Yu, spammed his Furious Action so that it missed.
-
Yup. It only looks slower/faster on some characters.

She has 6 cards actually, the same as Shadow Labrys. And as people pointed it out, this both a good and a bad thing. It is good since it means Lizzie gets more mileage out of Thanny. But the bad comes in when he does inevitably get broken. See, it takes time to recharge those 6 lost cards, much longer than it would take Akihiko (who only has 2 cards) to recover from a Persona Break. Difference here is that Akihiko can hold his own without Caesar while Lizzie is nearly helpless without Thanny which I am hoping her new Debilitate special (it was what people called "Randomizer" earlier) helps. It lasts a long while and functions as a heavy-duty parry (input: [4]6+A/B) and it inflict Negative Penalty to boot. Current video footage shows just how powerful she might have been if done properly. But you might have a point. A game like P4A has never been done before by ASW and they do tend to have a history of poor balance choices (see Calamity Trigger). For what it's worth though, they do tend to get better at it as more installments are added. So hopefully Arena 2 does a better job in the end.

Hmm, a Faultless Defense system...well looking at the recently revealed videos, it wouldn't seem like they're adding the function. I guess they figured since you cannot kill someone via chip damage, it wasn't necessary. Though I guess I can understand the lack of mix-up too. Barring AOA, I don't think there were many characters with overhead attacks. Then again, it's been ages since I last played someone at P4A so my memory is likely very incorrect.
-
Something hit me a while back. I recall someone once telling me that the combat in P4A lacked an aspect that most 2D fighters utilize. I believe mix-up was the one they were convinced was missing. Would any of you agree with this or was there something else missing from the original P4A's combat?
-
Eh maybe I never saw Kanji's DP as scary since all I ever had to do, as Lizzie, is lob one Maziodyne at a distance and problem solved. Also, apparently I had it wrong: it isn't Kanji's 5C that paralyzes. It is his Shadow version that does that.
-
Word. I got worried a bit when someone, who I am positive is a better player than me, mentioned Elizabeth got hit hard. Then I saw the loketest footage and went "Well damn, I was worried for nothing".

Is that not often the case though? People see something like "move X is now -2F of block/whiff" and focus on the negative side of it, choosing to outright ignore that "move Y is now 0F and prorates better". I think people just get used to something and are often spooked the moment they see their chosen character's name next to the word "nerf".
