Q&A about Joystick Building, Parts, and Purchasing
Callisto replied to mr.mortified's topic in Hardware
I've literally never done anything involving wiring and whatnot past swapping out my joystick/buttons, I know that the TEasy Strike is solderless but I'm assuming that there's still a tool or two I'd need, can anyone tell me what all I should snag at the hardware store? -

Thanks, going to try out a TEasy Strike then. My first ever tournament experience was brutal as I only own a 360 stick and BB ended up being on PS3s that day, not aiming to go out like that again! -

Not sure if anyone here might know, figured I'd give a shot since SRK is down: I currently use MadCatz SE 360 sticks(the WWE ones) with the parts swapped out to JLF/OBSF30's, I'd like to be able to use them on PS3 as well but everything I can find regarding dualmodding is for TEs. Does anyone know if any of the solderless PCBs like Cthulu/Kitty/TEasy are workable with the SE case? I'd really like to avoid getting beaten down by my g/f for buying a TE if I can. -

I was curious about this part, OS's are something I'm hoping to tackle learning soon in the gaggle of FGs I'm working on atm...how quickly after the A should the C be entered, like two distinct separate tap-taps or something closer to SF plinking? -
I have hours of my own footage that could probably accomplish this, lol

Yeah definitely was the one starting with B > C > 2D(RC) > 6C, I was going to try to get video but now I can't land 5D(1) > 214D at all anymore . Been trying to improve on Ragna, learn Sakura in SSF4AE, and learn MvC3 all at the same time the last few weeks, think my hands just may be fried lol -

It definitely lands both hits, just the 22C doesn't come out after the 2nd 5D hit. -

Yeah doing BE > land > dash > 5D...do you do the 22C after just one hit of 5D or after the second? -

New thing I'm finding I can't do: In one of the challenges(7 I think?) there's a part where after BE it goes 5D > 22C, and I can't get that little bit to work at all, anyone care to offer some insight? -

Thanks, I actually thought it was the total opposite and was always trying to be above, haha. I got dusted at Heart, but largely because it ended up being on PS3 which my stick is not for and I had to borrow a really old hori stick with a square gate. Still a great experience though, met some cool people and had a bunch of fun. -

Still having trouble with the corner throw combo, was hoping someone might be able to give me some insight as to what I'm missing here: I can't get him to stop emergency teching when BE floors him for my life and I'm a little stumped as to what I'm doing wrong. -

Thanks, I'll lump that into the 80's training montage I need to undergo to learn plinking in SF4, lol -

http://images.bluegartr.com/bucket/gallery/e3e347b711feef21bbb9d75657540e9f.png I use a madcatz SE stick with the parts swapped out for Sanwa JLF stick and OBSF30 buttons, it's mostly just me not being comfortable/good with it yet. I have a few major input issues, usually tightening my grip a bit fixes these two issues, but then it leaves me with a whole new, having a ton of trouble dashing left, doing Carnage Scissors input while facing left, and also doing quick SJs like in this combo. Another thing that is absolutely killing me is not landing dash > 5C after something like back throw > 5D > dc > 5C, I don't have a problem with it in training but online I can never get the C to come out before they tech, this is another thing that's forcing me to stick to my bland 5B > 5C > Hell's Fang stuff that I'd like to add some variety to. -

I have a hell of a time getting sjc j.C to work after the 5C, I've cleared challenges up through #7(though 7 was prior to CS2, only can really do 1-6 now) and the corner throw one on #5 always takes me like 45 minutes :/ -

That's where not being able to do the dash under > 3C > 22C ender hurts me at the moment for sure. Going to be plugging away at that for the next couple of nights trying to get it down. -

Here's the aforementioned me getting shitcanned by Tao... Most of the fights I lost last night I had a pretty good idea of where I went wrong, against this guy, not so much. There was a third fight where I landed one hit between both rounds...it felt like I spent the entire time stuck in one big mix-up and I don't even know where to start defending against it. -

The backjumping tends to just be input errors, usually me botching a backdash, just part of getting used to stick. I was trying to stay airborne and find spots to enter with BE here and there, just seemed like an okay idea at the time lol...and yeah, historically vs. Tagers every time I rush right in to do something like 5B I get killed by backdash > command throw which is why I wasn't really attempting that. -

That's a huge help, thanks! A bit later I'll probably have a video of me getting absolutely wrecked by a Tao, the guy perfected me like 5 straight rounds and I'm at a total loss on what to do with that matchup lol... -

Do his command grabs not work on jumping targets in general? -

Another from my ranked matches last night...I set the matchmaking to 'people stronger than me' for most the night before doing player matches with a buddy, needless to say I got blown the hell up a pretty fair amount lol, but this one I think I did pretty alright in since I'm normally awful against Tager: Curious about how to actually approach him, at some point I always eventually get impatient and run right into a command grab no matter how much I tell myself not to. What's the safest way to get in on him? -

Or lack thereof lol, that's where I have a lot of trouble and eventually resort to shit I know I shouldn't do like dashing in with 6C or random Hell's Fangs. I feel like I'm pretty strong from a bit outside of starting positions on to the corner, but do have a rough time in the middle. -

That's more or less what I was wondering, for the longest time all of my online/competitive play has been confined to player matches against a couple of friends, I'm pretty new to ranked stuff and didn't know if I was just cheesing it or what. -

If I'm not mistaken, he meant that I was somehow using 'cheap' combos by using the normal bnbs that you learn in training mode and that I was scrubby for doing so, lol, and that he somehow felt he was so much better than me that he should have declined the match had his controller not ran out of batteries. I do actually spend time trying to make combos that fit my own style of play, like how I came up with the 2nd DID after wall bounce since I drop the other follow-ups, I just was looking for an opinion on if I was doing something cheap by using things like B > C > Hell's Fang when he left it wide open and I needed to make up some ground. -

So uhh, looking for some unbiased opinions here... This clip: Goes with these messages: So I guess I need to ask, was I actually scrubbing it up/abusing things that badly, or was this guy somehow just salty as fuck despite the fact that he won? edit: unrelated, but if anyone wants to kick the shit out of me I'll be on xbl for another hour or two
