Checked the change list, and it looks like RoboBOBR had the answer already on his thread: Ushiro kara ikimasuyo (214K) - can cancel into FB Ushiro kara ikimasuyo 22-34F so fastest possible FB door should be 31F. Which is good because I mainly use it for lvl3 air rockets, which is 39 frames.
-
They remained virtually the same, with only a few real changes: - 5K counterhit will float now instead of wall-stick, so you can combo off of it at midscreen now. - Drill Cancel Kick combos are slightly easier because 5P is now one frame faster. - You have expanded metered pogo combos, because you can combo FB j.236D after a pogo hop now. lots of new opportunities here. - Rerere no Tsuki combos are a bit better too; *236D followup no longer costs meter, but also no longer wall-bounces at midscreen. if you are near the corner you can get an air combo off of it. *of course the 236D followup to 236D is better because the net cost is now 25 instead of 50. That's about it really, though I may have missed something. Faust probably needs a new combo thread too, but there isn't that much to include. :P maybe a new bnb section on the front would be nice at least.

http://youtu.be/NPsrwF0shEA?t=8m19s On the subject of good Bullet play (are MC and MShi the same?), I was really impressed by the decision here. MC saw that Hakumen was within the threshold for a kill with one more combo, so he refrained from using the H2 follow to have the biggest possible advantage for those last moments. Had he used the followup when he had the chance (which I'm sure most Bullet's would do) it would still be one more combo, but he would've been fighting at H1, which could have been a fatal difference.
-
I know there aren't many people here, but do you guys think FB door is 9 frame startup total? Frame data says 9, but I'm not sure if that counts pulling yourself under the rug. so I have no idea what the threshold is if you maybe press D later, or at the first possible second. 9 frames seems way too fast, but if that's not it, then do we just have an estimate as to how fast it can actually be? I've been using it to punish Robo-Ky's air missles, and I've been trying to determine if it's a solid reaction punish on a theoretical basis.

I figured Faust needs one for the new game. I can update the OP later if we need it. Gameplay related discussion for the +R should go here I guess, whereas combo and general stuff go elsewhere.
-
Well it is virtually impossible for it to be a tv thing, rest assured. I suspect one of 3 things: Trying the combo on a different character then you are used to; I have a hell of a time doing j.2k overhead combos on Millia for example because she's so tiny on the ground, while a character like pot and sol are really easy. Altering the timing on some moves mal-adjusting your perception of the combo. Perhaps it isn't quite as low to the ground as you think? Also you have probably checked this, but are they crouching? it's alot harder to connect if they are standing. EDIT: Anyway, I would just try to practice the combo with the run forward 5p. you don't always need it, but most of the time it improves the positioning for the rest of the combo, namely the 2S later in the air combo will whiff if you aren't close enough.

Middle Tennessee Needs Gaming! Monthly Versus Tourneys - Antioch, TN

I think most of the Cookeville peeps have family obligations on Thanksgiving. If we plan to have it the week before/after, or maybe a day before/after it might work, else I'd suspect there wouldn't be too many people from Cookeville able to show up, which would defeat the purpose. Also: hype for the monthly, sorry you can't make it Milln I'm putting in some more Gear practice, and some KoF practice for this event. If anyone in Extended Cookeville want to practice with me anytime out of class, text me. -
k, I'll shoot; 3 questions: Is the AC combo thread still a good resource for ACR combos? Trying to this combo (hover dash j.s, 2k, 5s©, 6p, 5hs JC j.hs S dive) on Ky, but it's pushing him too far away for the j.HS to connect. Am I doing something wrong? And what are my options for pressuring against the backthrow OS? Mixups I'm trying have been falling into somewhat of a hitch; If I go for an empty jump throw/low, I'm getting grabbed first, and I'm also getting grabbed after blocked j.S'/j.H' close to the ground. Sooo I need I need to figure out the options to prevent this.

Wasting meter for bad reasons is the Cookeville way of life. And yoooo Kyle!(or anyone else w/ input) What advice could you give me on Gear? I know I'm not a fundamentally strong player, but having flaws visible to others makes it easier to learn ^.^ -
No problem ^.^ Just glad I could help Faust's mixup is rather strong up close, because he has drill cancel j.k overheads, several decent lows, and mettakiri (pseudo command grab). However, he's not going to be approaching until a good item covers his ground, or he gets a good knockdown. Most of his good spacing tools have sizable recovery if whiffed, so do your best to avoid items and predict which poke he tries to go for, and get in. It looks pretty tough for Baiken, but I'm sure you can do it. Here are the +R matches I have right now on the Faust video thread: [4/18/2013] Amakusa vs Nage(Faust) [5/16/2013] OsakaB(Faust) vs Fuwanko [6/27/2013]Maruken vs. Kiisha(Faust) perhaps they'll be useful here too.
-
Hella late answer for this, but I just happened to be stopping by. It is impossible to air grab Faust while he's on the scalpel. I'd also be careful using Mawarikomi, because he can do the pogo smack backwards, and it has some invincibility frames. Honestly with Baiken, I think the best option would be to block, and use Youshijin if he's too close. Ouren looks dangerous to use because Faust can do K flower to go through it and punish. Faust's moves are very fast while on the pogo, so unless the Faust is being very predictable with the ground flower (in which case you can probably just jump and punish), the option with the least risks involved is probably to just let him throw his item, push his buttons and get off. the overhead and low come out at specific ranges, so there isn't much he can do if you are just blocking it.
-
BADC was an amazing experience, I'm glad I had the chance. ^.^ I felt like I've improved alot both in and before the tournament. I didn't get anywhere in the ranks, but the competition was that much fiercer, I'm not even surprised. I hope to level up my game in GG by the next time I go to Ohio. Good games to everyone I faced. whether I had good odds or not, I don't feel like I wasted a match. Someday I hope to make my Faust an iron wall. :P If anybody remembered the matches, I'd be interested to hear if anyone noticed a particular weakspot on me that I could work on, I'd love to hear it. Oh, and the other FG's were cool too. Even if I haven't really committed to any of the other games on the roster, I have much respect for everything that I saw. and thanks Kyle for letting us crash at your house again, you were a great host, and playing and learning VSav on an actual arcade cabinet was godlike. That's something that I never really had the chance to do before and I had alotta fun.

Middle Tennessee Needs Gaming! Monthly Versus Tourneys - Antioch, TN
Mr.Minionman replied to Milln's topic in Locals
Why are you being so negative star >_> . It's a monthly, he was merely suggesting replacing persona. It wasn't definitive, and it certainly wasn't conclusive, and considering the small scale of the monthlies it's certainly not a significant issue. Milln has always been open for suggestions and changes, so creating ugly rants riddled with insults and jibes is not an appropriate way to get through to him. If you have a problem, there are more than enough ways to express civil dissent without taking the offensive. and no, you do not need permission to host an event, but if you want to set something up you have to be absolutely ready to take up all of the responsibilities that entails; find a place/date/time, gather an audience, set rules, and put all of the time, effort, and sacrifice involved. He isn't the only person who has "permission" to, but he's certainly the only one trying. And right now, most people in the community think he's doing a hella fine job at it. But of absolute importance, if you want it to happen you have to take action, and if you can't do that then the words will be empty. -
k. that's helpful then.

http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?3417-Learn-Faust-in-1-minute%21-%28If-you-are-new-Come-Here-First%21%21%21%29 Refer to this for most of those questions. You don't necessarily have a "The Anti-Air Button" but you have many good anti-airs to implement against different angles of approach. If one doesn't work, you usually have one that does instead. And his 6p has above-the-knees invincibility for all but 1 frame of it's start up, so it's a good choice for many things. 2H is a strong poke against ground approaches, but has almost no hitbox above the ground and has a long whiff recovery, so it is vulnerable to air approaches if you aren't careful with it. Similarly, his f.S covers good ground range but can be slid under rather easily, and will whiff completely against many character's 6p for a counter hit. 214P/K/S however, really only have nominal use. They are all very slow on startup and easily blocked/responded to with fairly easy OS's. 214K~D adds some new function to it, but you can only use it after the cross up one, so it's a bit on the predictable side at times too. you can FRC them as the door is coming out, but even that doesn't add too much use to them. If the opponent is blocking because of an item, you may be able to catch them, but you are usually just better off using more conventional means of mixup. Will catch and/or frustrate many new players, but be careful not to fall on bad habits.

We should do a KoF13 round robin too! Extended Cookeville has been trying to get into the game -
I'm having troubles finding information on version 1.11. What did they add/change from version 1.10? Is it important?

Had a great time at the house party, really wish I could've stayed longer. On a personal note I'm glad I felt like the practice I've put into FGs is starting to pay off, and getting pummeled in GG only makes me want to practice more. Good games to everyone I had the chance to play, and I hope to be fiercer competition next time too! EDIT: do we have a recording for the Papstr/Naimat FT10? Was playing KoF while that was happening. -

This may have been discussed before, but can someone explain the gulp-trap variables a bit for me? Was testing it on a friend playing Aigis recently, and he was able to get through everything with an Aigis shorthop, unless I did j.B(which doesn't seem to have any followups). Meaty 5A & 4~6D seemed to function, but perhaps someone could go into more detail on it? What sort of things do characters have to do to get out of it? Also not that you'd really want to try gulp trap against Teddie, it seems like he can 22A to avoid the trap completely.

Sorry for the late reply, Faust has a new FB Door that is extremely fast, and like the other Doors, it can be FRC'd. Which is pretty flippin sexy. Yeah the chance for the others would be lowered by that, but we got Dumbbells which aren't so bad, and most of the items are greatly improved anyway. Though I'm not sure what their actual percentages are, I swear Mini-Pot has a .0001% chance of showing up when I need him. and Drill Cancelling is a great resource for low to the ground j.S and j.H that both cover incredible space just above the ground. You can also use it to stall in the air a bit. Drill Cancelling from way above their head can set up j.D/j236D drops too. The more uses you can find for Drill Cancel the better, tbh.
