  1. When I enter in the next unlimited BB tournament we are having, I'll be sure to abuse that against all of the Unlimited Arakune mains out there >:D Thx for the tech mang.
  2. ^ And the secret to beating Chandler's DPs is to DP him more. *tested*
  3. http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft/Metagame My thoughts on meta developed from what I remember watching nothing but SC/SC2 for nearly 2 years. Good game, this article is mildly relevant. Point being, even though RTS' have a bit more variety in available options in any given match, tactics change and so do players. Even excluding artificial meta changes via balance changes, we can't expect what we see to be what we get. Not to mention there being the individual meta. Also gg's Volpe, I'm becoming increasingly more comfortable with that matchup, I think I mainly need to work on getting more damage off of confirms when I get in, and watching for that dp. 'xXp4aplayerXx' was trolling me so hard with it lol >_>
  4. I've been watching quite a few CP vids, and for somebody who wasn't all too impressed with how CS looked, I'm rather pleasantly surprised with how good it looks so far. Many of the system mechanics I disliked in the previous rendition have been renovated, and characters seem much more unique than they had been. Concerning overdrive: As a system mechanic, I think it's an excellent idea. Having to choose between big deeps or a get-of-out-jail-free card adds a new level of depth to the game. As it is now, it's easy to see some characters got blessed+ with it while others got the short end, but that's to be expected when they try new things, and I think it'd be folly to expect it to sit where it is now in terms of balance. Regardless of tiers, every character seems to have a fair chance of winning in most of their matchups, so I don't think the differences in overdrive are all there is to it. About the only character I haven't seen any of is Makoto. EDIT: Btw, have a strong interest in playing Bullet, but I'm considering Bang, Tsubaki, Izayoi, Carl, and Jin about equally a tier below her.
  5. Lol, I pretty much always have this thread open. It's the hottest thing on these forums. The thread with the second most comments has a 25th of what we have :P
  6. ^that quote is great Also I was a bit reluctant to post this, and perhaps justly so, but I can see a large number of logical fallacies in the past month's arguments: http://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/ Shoutouts: Sorry I've been lazy responding/writing them, so I'll just throw a blanket on it >_>. It was great hanging with you guys again, still suck but I'm not the slightest bit concerned. :P I feel like a gain alot when I come to these. @Cookeville GTFO @Volpe I'm feeling much more confident with that matchup, though I really need to start teching that dp lol. gg's @Milln Many things could be said, but I don't think it's necessary :P In hindsight, I'm glad you made us eat burritos for breakfast 10/10 would eat again @Klein I could just copy/paste your shoutout in response and it'd be right :P. gg's in gg man, I aspire to not be bodied by your Slayer one day. @AnneIFrank ...I'm sorry for 2C and brutal impact D: I'll try to run a more respectable defense next time we meet, Aigis' shit is soooo scary @Others I need to play more casuals with you guys >_> I'm always too paranoid to ask; or busy; or kof as the case was last saturday. I ended up playing mostly only familiar faces in the tournament lol. Also conversations at Chedders/Ihop/etc are the best. @Final Round: I'll probably go, the price tag always gives me a heart attack, so I'll just get a spectator badge I suppose. Cookeville powers represent'! That's about all that's on my mind atm. Also planning on getting PSALBR. Does that make me a bad person?
  7. I'd be interested in opinions here as well :o At risk of sounding salty on matches with Cookeville peers (Pap, Bane, Tret), I think Teddie is her worst by a large margin. He trivializes and even benefits off of any attempt to control space with Asterius, and completely ignores nearly all of her oki tools with going timing on his dp. After Teddie, just Mitsuru and maaaybe Yosuke are bad, but they certainly feel much more fair to me. For most of the rest of the cast Slab seems to be capable of just playing the neutral well and excelling, I agree Naoto and Yukiko seems rigged in our favor, and I'd include Akihiko and Labrys in her positive matchups as well. I really haven't fought enough Chies to have much of an opinion on her, but the rest of Slabs matchups seem fair. Elizabeth is tough, but I know most of my troubles I've had with her are my own fault. Yu can be silly to fight too, but he gets hit by 2C as much as anyone else :P
  8. Yeeah, I was certainly intimidated there. I think I was overreacting to the persona, too ready to drop what I'm doing and block it. Part of that stemmed from how spot-on he was punishing any whiffed moves, so I was working mainly on tightening my close game. When I got to Mitsuru I was already a dead duck lol. I'd gone the past 2 hours losing to Elizabeth, switching lobbies and losing to Elizabeth, so I wasn't really playing my finest. >_> Anyway, thx for the input! I don't do netplay often, so when I do, it's cool to find familiar faces.
  9. There's both the technical aspect to fighting games, and the yomi/matchup aspect. No matter how much time I put into playing Carl in BB, I'm not going to win with him until I develop mechanics and combos in training mode. Training mode won't win you games, but it'll give you the resources necessary to. Once you have the resources you need to win, then you just need the know-how to play off your opponent. You don't need to spend all of your time in training mode sure, but optimizing your combos or practicing control for your character certainly won't hurt; and there is always -something- you can work on. Likewise, there are matchups in any game that working on will improve your success rate, as well as playstyles you have yet to experience to their fullest. Playing against as many people as possible (does not necessarily mean netplay, though considering how distant people are compared to the asian countries, it certainly is an important one) is in a sense, it's own form of training. It's a balance, and understanding your own personal balance is important for success. In hindsight of writing this, I suppose it's a pretty obvious element, but I felt like it needed to be said.
  10. I tried it, but it gave me nothing but errors connecting for half an hour before I gave up. And the people on PSN should get into a lobby on P4A at some point, I'd like to get matchup experience in before MTNG. Trying to get back into this game, and I still got a bit of work to do.
  11. That and DarkSoulsMindsEye are 2 of my favorite DS channels. I watch them all the time :o I especially love emarrel's vs Hackers vids, (but still, sl1 NG+++++++ runs ftw)
  12. Want fries with that salt? lol. I'm not sure he's the best, I'm finding it hard to imagine Kratos or Sly not being top tier, lol. Parappa's lvl 1 doesn't seem nearly as good. I did like what I saw of him though. Divekicks and Shoryukens evry'day. It was a ton of fun, but I could honestly never take it seriously lol. They injected some FG fundamentals into the game, but it's totally ruined by the "hit a super to win" aspect. Hitting things just doesn't seem as rewarding when all of your punch can just lead to a dud, which makes it seem like only the characters with reliable and efficient supers can be competitive. Totally! It's kinda an expensive excursion, but I love it when we are actually able to make it there. I learn alot every time I fight you, and always have a ton of fun. Order Sol v. Faust was pretty crazy, though it seemed pretty snowbally; That 6HS loool. I was a tad disappointed to find my panic response show back up when I was fighting your Yosuke, mostly just meaning I felt like I resorted to hitting the DP button way too often. Still it was a great set, I love fighting your Yosuke :P He's such a fun-looking character. Part of the thrill of fighting games is the seriousness of the matches (most of the times), that intensity is what draws me to the genre, so as long as it doesn't engulf your life, I say keep chasing. And I'm a PS3 player, though I'm hardly ever on lol.. We should really try to get some matches in some time! You like fighting the bull and it's persona right? Dark Souls really is an amazing game, I've replayed it so many times now it's not even funny now. I'm working on a SL1 character atm, sitting in front of the oreos and smores door right now, lol. The series has so much replay value it's insane. And the PvP is so exciting too! :D Honestly don't think I've spent so much time on any other RPG.
  13. That was the best thing I've seen in GG lol. Went back and tested this in Training mode, and Blue Burst > 3 Bombs > f.S(far slash?, 5S) > 5H net me a grand total of 60 damage. :P
  14. I just need to grow my beard out a bit more, and people would call us twins! (kidding, I like my goatee) :o And I was just caught on the price point this time, I'ma try my hardest to whatever shows up next. Through many gimmick filled games with the Cookeville crowd, my Faust is slowly become a force to be noticed just before being rolled over and cast aside. <3
  15. spelled backwards that comes out as elbaegdelwonknu! The more you know...
  16. I will be. Slab is too much fun to just abandon the game just like that. @Milln- I'm sorry D: I tried to go, but people neglected to tell me they canceled the plans to go to Nashville until after Chandler left. I was stuck without a ride @Uri- Haven't forgotten about skullgirls, just been a bit distracted. I plan to put in a bit of time to relearn the game some, but it'll be a bit delayed. It's harder for me to get on the PS3 at home than at the dorm. @Music Posts- I know I'll click on those links eventually, I have them bookmarked. Will respond when I do, probably when everyone has forgotten they made them :P
  17. I won't be able to show up new years eve unfortunately, but I'm going to try to show up after my family does a thing in nashville new years day. tba.
  18. Huge focus on Painwheel, and a mix between Filia, Cerabella, and Double as teammates. I haven't put a whole lot of time into the game for lack of competition, especially after the update, but I've really been wanting to play it again. Painwheel is one of the coolest fg characters I've played, so I'm excited for another chance to play her :o. Though I'm sure I'll be destroyed, I'd be happy to play you when I get the chance.
  19. Skull... Girls... :I I want to play
  20. Nice job, dude! (not that I know who Jchensor is) Seeing these combos you come up with on the obscure characters makes Marvel actually look interesting lol. EDIT: Papstr, those meta knight vids you favorited makes me want to punch babies, holy crap. >_> Meta Knight ruins that game, lol
  21. More of a hobby really, seeing as I don't get paid for it :P. TTU has it's own radio station, and students are able to take about 3 hours worth of training to qualify for some time on air. I go in about once a week while school is in session and just play whatever I feel like. Last semester I had a show where I played albums start to finish and talked about them, which I'll probably continue in the spring. I'm essentially that one guy you here rambling unenthusiastically on the college station (there's one in every town right? maybe not) and playing random obscure bands. Nothing spectacular sure, but I enjoy it :o It gives me an opportunity to expand my music library, and talk to other people with interests in music without really committing to it. If I wasn't so lazy about learning musical instruments I probably would have tried to be in a band, lol. Oh yeah, I remember that XD. It's the small things that count. The look on their faces when they realized that I had spiked the carrot juice was priceless. Surprised you could remember that, you were wobbling all over the place.
