Lord Knight's GAMEPLAY RELATED QUESTIONS ONLY thread (EX edition)
Dont_Explain replied to Lord Knight's topic in Archive
Stronger mixups/pressure would discourage new players and BB isn't exactly the most popular game. Upping the game speed for faster matches? I think making the game faster would also discourage new players as well as throw off people who have been playing for awhile. Edit: Although I see your point about the mixups and whatnot, I think in a game like this where combos tend to do a lot of damage, having strong pressure/mixups would turn the game into who hits who first and some matchups would probably become really gay. -

Hold up. Iirc, a few other characters got better. didn't Bang get new midscreen combos? Tager got better damage and heat gain, Hazama does a bit less damage, but still has heat for days with loops, Arakune is....., Valk is still doing nice damage, Platinum was supposed to be better, Rachel I think got better too or at least is still decent, Tao is pretty good, Lambda I'm not sure about, but she still seems to do decent damage, Carl I'm not sure about either, and Noel does damage without making you feel salty as fuck like CS2. The main ones that got nerfed were Litchi, Tsubaki, Jin, and Makoto. Correct me if I'm wrong cause I don't wanna have false info. I know Ragna has higher damage than everyone by far, but everyone didn't get nerfed as hard as people try to make it seem. -

I suppose it's just a "Haters gonna hate" situation. -

I know being a Ragna player this is gonna sound super biased but everyone feels like Ragna does ridiculous damage, but in CS2 he did about 3.8k off overheads (ending with Hell's Fang) in the corner and got about 50-55 heat and 4k from hitting people crouching with 5B>5C>6C>etc with about the same heat. Now he gets 4k off overheads and 4.5k off 5B on crouching opponents with about 55-60 heat. Now all the sudden he is braindead cause he does an extra 500 damage and gains an extra 5 heat? I know he got other buffs like 6D causing float on hit and j.D pretty much always lets him do Belial Edge no matter the proration, but most of his buffs just made it easier to combo. For the most part he does the same combo starters as CS2 Ragna, just extra damage. He still cant kill people in 2 combos (unless they were Fatal, then you deserved it.), so I don't see the problem. CS2 Ragna would kill you in 4 combos (1 basic one for corner carry, and the other 3 killed you) and so does CS:EX Ragna. How do you feel about Ragna in EX? -

Lol I think I need to clarify since people were confused. Zeron was using subs while I was trying to learn Haku, but since he didnt really know how to use his subs either it was just us failing everywhere. I felt like it was counterproductive. Basically, I lied and my sarcasm didn't come out right. -

GGs Toan. And Zeron you sent me an invite when I was already playing then proceeded to go offline a minute after. Clearly you didn't want to play that badly/didn't have the time to play. -

Anyone wanna fight my Day 1 Haku? I kinda have an idea of how to use him, but I just want to practice hit confirms in a real match. -
That stiff ass? if he isn't doing Tsubaki, he wont put any effort into moving.

Can I get a avatar of Ragna doing the first few hits of Black Onslaught before his arm turns into darkness? If you can, make it where it just starts with him hitting them, not transforming his sword into the scythe then hitting them. It would look cool if it looks like he is continuously hitting them over and over. I guess you could use the same background for the astral too. And he needs a target too so I guess Hazama. Hope that's not too much. Thanks in advance. Edit: Also would the size 150 X 70 work?

I think you got him confused with CS1 Ragna.

Ragna Critique and Self-Improvement Thread

I noticed this was a CS2 video, but that doesn't really matter. Well, I don't really know how to word it other than this was just typical beginner stuff. "I got buttons, I'm gonna press em and stuff is gonna happen" The easiest way (although not the best way) to understand Ragna is A>B>C>D. The in game tutorial on Ragna would give you a nice start without going over every little detail. Learn to space with 5B, and try to end blockstrings either with a 2D or Dead Spike from afar. better to end with 2D since people can jump over Dead Spike. Once you learn what moves cancel into others both your blockstrings and combos will become better. Try not to use Hell's Fang on its own. It looks like a good move to approach with since it travels across the screen, but if its blocked, your opponent will be able to attack before you, but you will be able to block. if you choose to use the followup to Hell's Fang up, you take a primer (In CS:EX it doesnt take a primer anymore), but you wont be able to block and you gave a free combo to your opponent and lost momentum. -
Its fun until you get into a real match where you get people who can block then you're all sadface.

This is if you're getting close to the corner, but not there yet. That's why I said these are really spacing specific, but seem useful to me since without GH you get way more damage.

Not sure if Ragna players already found DbD combos that build their own heat and if not, apparently he can still build 50 heat and end in DbD rather than Not Over Yet. I started with 5B and I'm gonna test other starters (I'm doing these as post). These will as start in the corner as all BK combos should. I say "these" now because I'm sure I can start with more than 5B. On a croucher: 5B~5C~6C~Delayed DS~~Dash 6B~BK~5C~5D(1)~GH~6D~DID~214C~Ax Kick~Falling D~BE~5D(2)~HF~HF~3C~HF~DbD = 6763 damage (I remember having 1 heat leftover one time so I think I missed a hit on BE, but I think we can live without that 1 heat lol) Starting with FC 2C and doing same combo path: 7643 damage and you get that 1 heat back This next one builds 46 heat, so I figured why not add it cause we shouldn't go off the basis "I only have 50 heat to start with". So assuming you start with 54 heat... FC 2C~5C~6C~Delayed DS~Dash 6B~5C~5D(1)~BK~5B~5D(1)~DS~(Wait a short second) 2C~5C~5D(1)~GH~Spin Kick~6D~DID~Falling D~JC j.D~BE~5D(2)~DC~5D(2)~DbD= 8185 damage

These combos probably wont be used commonly cause of spacing, but they seem helpful if you're getting close to the corner. The back throw one just looks cool to me and actually does nice damage, but requires a RC so only use it for a fancy finish or for extra damage. The forward throw I think will get more love since this one is useful. Mainly its not only meterless but you get more damage and heat than using a GH combo. Note: The back throw combo starts about a Ragna backdash away from opponents starting position and then you jump behind them and throw, while forward throw is about 2 Ragna backdashes from starting position. Back Throw Combo: 4+BC~HF(Whiff)~Tsuika~RC~Dash 6B~5C~5D(1)~DS~5C~JC j.C~j.D~BE~5D~CID~214C~214C~Dash under 3C~22C=4195 damage and 35 heat HF ender = 3886 damage and 41 heat. Forward Throw Combo:5+BC~DS~Dash 5C~JC j.C~j.D~JC j.D~BE~5D~CID~214C~214C~Dash under 3C~22C= 3860 damage and 40 heat Optimal Variation:5+BC~DS~Dash 5C~JC j.C~j.D~BE~6B~2C~5D~CID~214C~214C~Dash under 3C~22C= 3957 damage and 43 heat HF Ender 1st combo= 3577 damage and 49 heat HF Optimal Combo= 3660 damage and 52 heat I find myself having to be slightly closer to the corner than 2 backdashes for optimal F.throw combo. These look practical to me at least since even the back throw gives back most of the heat along with better damage. let me know what you think.

Maybe you could try to go through some of the important moves and tactics with the character so people have an idea of what to do in most situations. Like it doesn't have to be in depth with every move, but give good/common applications of the move. Maybe after showing some things then you can do some netplay to show off some of the moves in action.

If you actually like Ragna, then you shouldnt feel like a fraud every other match.

This Star Demon thing is getting out of hand. The guy clearly doesn't try to learn from his mistakes no matter how people word it so leave it alone.
