  1. Messing around with code that's already been written is hard as hell in general. I'm not surprised.
  2. I remember that Sword Art Online's OP disc just had a photo of the singer for the Cover...though it had a slip case with artwork from the show. Maybe this will be similar. Or it could just be a placeholder *shrugs* EDIT: Actually, if that's the cover for the whole damn OST...that has to be a placeholder. It just makes no sense.
  3. Your point would valid...if gatlings didn't exist. A>B>C>Special combos may be simple, but they can be learned quickly for a beginner (took me only a few minutes) until they get the hang of doing simple combos before they go for actual BnB's and stuff like that. Hell most complex combos are elaborations of that basic formula anyway.
  4. I....what. Back when I was getting into the overall larger FGC I remember that people were talking about GG like it was the Battletoads of fighting games or some shit.
  5. SuperJ: What...? Airdashers are not super-complex compared to SF, "don't whiff" applies to all fighting games in general. If you whiff, you can get punished, how the hell is that different in SF and in airdashers? Airdashers have more stuff in them, I'll give you that, but if you already want to get into them I'm assuming you're ready to deal with complexity of that kind.
  6. Very true. I think I can make a comparison here... I like racing simulators. Like FGs they have a SERIOUSLY competitive community and can be a little hard to get into, especially when you start doing tuning--any racing sim worth a damn will have literally hundreds of options to tweak from you caster, camber, toe-in/out, tire pressure, gear ratio, fuel/air-ratio, suspension stiffness. And like FG's, basically the only way to know this stuff is to go onto forums and talking with other players, though at least with sims you can crack open vehicular engineering books But, say, when I want to improve my time on The Hockenheimring in Forza 4, I can play alone, practicing by myself, not getting judged by others. In an FG, to get better, you MUST play other people. And get beat on. For weeks, and then you WILL slowly get better, still losing and only after a ton of time getting bodied will you finally start having a decent win-ratio. There is simply nothing we can do about this. It's something hardwired into the genre. Another thing: when I DO compete against others in racing sims, I'm up against 7-29 other people. If you lose it's less personal. But in an FG that person who bodied you is quite literally right next to you as you both endure the awkward silence after a match. And when you lose, it's because of them--they outplayed you. Meanwhile in Forza 4 maybe I just overcooked a corner and spun out in the grass. No other player can say "that dude lost because of me". I'm not saying that this needs to be gotten rid of--it's part of the intense competitive nature AND the personal mano-a-mano aspects to the genre. But it's a reason why new blood doesn't flow in as much.
  7. That feeling when you play endlessly, but you never learn anything. That's FG's in general for me. I just can't seem to learn anything substantial no matter how much I play. Accidently mashing something stupid like superjump and looking like a flailing idiot. And finally, when players way better than me use me as a glorfied training dummy. And then their combo ends and I TRY to do something to get out but fuck up and they CH me into a combo AGAIN. At that point I might as well put the controller down.
  8. Looks like other companies are following in ArcSys' footsteps.
  9. So, I just got ACR+, my first entry into the GG series, and I have to say, the OST is rather unqiue. I was expecting a soundtrack with some distinctive similarities to BB's (being composed by the same person), but with a unique sound compared to BB. However...GG's OST barely sounds like it was composed by the same guy. It just feels COMPLETELY different. BB seems to have a more "epic" and "grand" feel, while GG...as cheesy as this will sound, "metal as fuck" is like the only way to describe it. But damn, it sounds good. I SLIGHTLY prefer BB's style, but there's a lot of songs in this game I like, such as whatever the hell plays when Sol and Ky fight each other (still trying to remember the track names).
  10. So I'm rather new to this series, and I'm wondering if getting this game would be a good prelude to Xrd. From what I can tell, there were two main "generations" of GG, Reload and AC (correct me if I'm wrong), and the way people are going in the Xrd thread, the two had quite heavy differences. Now, Xrd is apparently based on the Reload "generation", and since this game is an AC "generation" as far as I can tell, I'm wondering if anything I learn in this game will be able to eventually apply whenever Xrd finally drops. Then again, we have no idea what Xrd could be like in the end so it could be moot. Though I only have a Vita on me...PS3 died.
  11. If they were gonna do that, then wouldn't it be a GG-BB comedy crossover? After all Carnival Phantasm was a Tsukihime/Fate crossover.
  12. Damn I WAS just about to bring up the idea of a hypothetical XRD dub
  13. Bumping up the damage just for the loketest doesn't seem like a good idea to me, it could lead to a lack of data on how much damage characters can actually do. I mean, it could be possible for a character to end being up too powerful at the normal values, because their high damage output got lost in the noise of EVERYONE having high damage output.
  14. Might wanna say that a new version, .78 is out with a new character, named Shake. He's got a sword and seems to be on the slow side, his 5A > 5B isn't even a valid link as far as I can tell. 5O is a counter that puts the opponent in a counter hit state, but couldn't test it beyond that. He has a bar that fills up with use of some attacks, seems to be for his sword, but I can't tell what it's for. He has a 22B super that might use it though, it doesn't do any damage and he just poses when you use it. Not sure what it's for. Also now all the character roster slots are filled.
  15. Mentioning how I will watch in any more detail is against the rules, so I'll just leave it at that.
  16. I'm not even much of a shipper, but you come off as really petty. It's not like their FORCING you to do or see anything. And your "fun" is rather mean-spirited and just plain dickish. ANYWAY, on-topic for the actual anime, I recently read throughout the whole thread. Consensus seems to be that it's getting better but is still mediocre. Regardless, maybe I'll watch it anyway. Goddamn funi site though, it's slow as hell. I'm amazed CR didn't get this. I'm not big on fanservice but does Platinum show up in ep.5's desperate sales grab fanservicey beginning or is she introduced afterwards. I will put up with anything for swimsuit!Platinum.
  17. Eh, maybe I'll catch up later. I honestly wish this show had a higher budget, they had potential here but it just seems...generic from what I've been reading.
  18. >HOW DARE PEOPLE HAVE FUN IN A WAY I DONT LIKE THAT MAKES ME VERY ANGRY You sure get mad over what other people do for fun. Do you realize how much of a petty dick you sound like? On-topic: Has this anime improved in the slightest since the firet episode or should I just watch it for the "so bad its good" factor?
  19. Well that's what the other dude said. But the game WAS once considered a kusoge (despite the fact that nothing in it was that broken compared to stuff like CT!Nu or X-Factor!Sentinel and it's not like MVC3 or BBCT died inglorious deaths) and now only a few dedicated players play it. It's not getting new people.
  20. In all honesty, why should it? Practically every FG has some crazy shit show up in the very first iteration. The whole genre works by giving the players characters and a system, and letting a metagame emerge from the chaos (look up "emergent gameplay"). When you have emergent complexity like that, sometimes unexpected stuff shows up (honestly it's more like unexpected crazy shit is simply inevitable--French Bread probably didn't intend for this kind of stuff to happen, they just emerged as players tested the system to its limits). I just don't see why UNIB gets called a kusoge when they've fixed most of the issues :/
  21. I assume the PS3 version will merely use lower res and have some stuff cut from the stages. Those Ringedge specs are easily PS4-tier, probably better. As long as the gameplay stays solid they can do whatever graphical shortcuts they want.
  22. >Has ADHD >Doesn't like this idea I hate random mechanics in FGs unless they're part of a special playstyle (like Luck Arcana in Arcana Heart) This better be some kind of mistranslation or an optional toggle.
  23. I main Platinum but I am terrible at fighting games. That and my PS3 broke. Gonna beg my parents for another one when Christmas rolls around.
  24. 24 is..."no" but I like 23. I kinda wish that BB had these palettes that Arcana Heart had--they gave the characters dark/tan skin and black clothes with red highlights. I loved the hell out of those. The #23 colors are quite similar and nice though.
  25. Woah, this guy looks nice. Might be a possible main. Also wow this game is sexy as fuck at 60 FPS, youtube doesn't do it justice. And while this is completely unrelated, I need that song, 'tis catchy as hell.
