[CP] News & Gameplay Discussion (Old)
dualseeker replied to kosmos badgirl's topic in BlazBlue Gameplay
I'm sure Overdrive mode is going to be well implemented. I'm already liking it in that it has specific changes to each character, so it's not really a universal buff, like X-Factor was. All in all, I just can't wait to see it in action, and the different combo options it'll open up for different characters! -

Charge characters are characters that have you hold one direction for a few seconds, and then input another direction for moves. Like Chun-Li in Street Fighter. Anyways, I'm totally in love with the new Noel <3. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS GAME! -
It sucks X__X. I only have a 360, so I'm kind of stuck with it. I hope it doesn't take too long to have it patched.

Good for you man. Good for you. Not saying you did, though =/.

I thought people had a vendetta against me for using Noel. And Ragna players get hate? Really? I thought that people were super chill with Ragna players.
-
There's no barrier blocking or anything like that in P4U, right?
-
So like.... When is someone gonna say something so I can actually see the group?

You shouldn't have to be told what to practice in order to know what to practice. I don't know how much you've actually played online matches, but I'm sure that if you've played a few, you should be noticing that some things in your playstyle aren't perfect. What you do then is save a replay of that match and watch what you do during said match. If you see something you do that you didn't like -- for example "Oh man, why did I use Noel's 3C without meter? I got punished for doing that!", or "Oh man, why did I drop that combo? I need to make sure I have that down so I don't miss out on big damage!" -- then go into training mode and fix those things you didn't like in your gameplay. Another big misconception I think people make is that they think that they won't be able to know what to fix, but in reality, if you see yourself constantly being punished for something, or that you keep dropping a certain combo, then that's definitely a sign that you have to fix something. Again, you shouldn't really need to be told what to practice. If you can pinpoint what is causing you to not do well, then it should already be clear what you're going into training mode to fix.

That is definitely on you. If you're trying to learn a character, you need to be familiar enough with said character to comprehend what other people are doing with that character at a glance. If you're not quite sure what moves they're using, or what combos they're using, then just use your character more and become more familiar with their moves/combos. Honestly, if you're not really familiar with your character, then that's what you should be focusing on first.

First off, you don't progress just by spending some time in the lab. You need to actually go out there, find some matches, and try to apply what you've found out in the lab. After a few matches, I'm sure you'll be able to tell whether what you've found in the lab is helping you or not. I think one of the biggest misconceptions is that "Lab time = some kind of improvement" and that's simply not it. Lab time helps, sure, but if you spend 50 days in the lab and then go online and play 1 match, you're not going to be a whole lot better than 50 days before. You need to manage your time between the lab and actually going out and trying stuff. Also, if people are refusing to tell you themselves what you need to do (shame on them, though), then you need to go out and find that information yourself, whether it be in forums or in videos. If no one has written any sort of guide or anything in a forum, then the next best thing to do is to frequently watch videos of people who are succeeding with your character/team and see what they do during matches. Trust me, watching videos of people playing your character and viewing their mistakes and accomplishments gives you a really good sense of what to do and not to do.
