  1. oh ok, i tried it before but it didnt work. you have to click and then wait a few seconds before it lets you drag
  2. I was just messing with that ALJ one using the list of players confirmed so far and made a sample bracket and tested out how to use it. The auto location seeding is nice in general as a start and then you can swap people from there. I think Ill use it unless you recommend I DL the Tio one instead. However, for the ALJ one, how do you designate someones tournament skill between expert novice and beginner? It just puts everyone in as a beginner by default and I didnt see a way to change their status in that regard
  3. Jeff, a poll wouldnt be a bad idea btw, what is the best tournament bracket software that anyone would recommend to use? I want to DL it
  4. you would find the pics by clicking on the link that says "Mike's Japan Pics" under the links section on the side bar on my blog
  5. ok, not only now have new pics been uploaded but my ENTIRE COLLECTION is now organized into sets for easy viewing. I hope people actually bother utilizing it cuz it took a while to organize the older ones
  6. doragon, I like that idea sorta I was actually thinking of making a signup sheet that asks for some information like name, location, games entered, hotel room number(if you are staying at the hotel) and cellphone number (if you have one or one where you can be reached). This information is all basically used so that we can find players who are missing fast and efficiently. Some people may refuse to give such information due to it infringing on their privacy. Of course if I WAS to go ahead and do something like this, no one would see the sheets except tournament directors, but if people realy felt that concerned about me knowing that kinda stuff, it would be their right to refuse. If thats the case though, they had better just be around when its their turn to play is all. Also, calling people on deck is a huge strong point. I think what im gonna do is try to get like a big dry erase board and write down all the station TV numbers on it. Under each one I will have 2 spots. One for who is currently playing and one for who is on deck. That way people can easily check (in addition to me calling them over a mic/bullhorn/whatever I can get). It also lets people know whos always playing incase they want to know for their own knowledge or if someone is recording vids and needs to find out
  7. Good thread Well posting who all the people who will be running each tournament are in the first post a tournament thread should solve the problem of letting people know whos running what. I have already done so for my upcoming tournament. At the the start of the tournament once the tournament is announced to begin, the guy running the tournament should breifly just introduce himself, saying his name and that he will be running the tournament. If he is having the assistance of other people, he should simply point them out and introduce their names as well. This will take all of 30 seconds and is easy to do if you have a mic or a megaphone.
  8. pics are up I also started organizing them into separate sets to make it easier to navigate and view I havnt organized a lot of the old ones because flickr fuckin erased the names so I cant easily search through them but ill get around to it eventually for now all the ones that were taken within the year pretty much are organized enjoy:vbang:
  9. eh, yea sometimes I get that vibe to an extent. Foreigners are pretty much never completely accepted into Japanese society. You can live here your whole life and follow all the rules and customs perfectly but you will still always be viewed as an outsider to many people. Ive experienced both positive and negitive special treatment here but generally most people are pretty cool and treat me like anyone else
  10. blog has been updated. pictures should be up later today
  11. a one day ticket is 13500 yen. I just checked and it seems to be sold out so I guess it doesnt matter. In any case... yea thatsa bit much just to see like 2 bands I like, a few I think are ok and a bunch Ive never heard of or dislike. The time will be better spent practicing up for the Akihabara tournament on Sunday.
  12. Baim is the female Dizzy player who is Natsume's girlfriend (im pretty sure anyway). Rod is Honnou (his real name is Rodrigo, if you notice, I put Honnou in parenthasis next to Rod the first time I used it this week. We all him Rod IRL and its easier to type) and yea... sucks I didnt meet up with J1n. Next year if he comes again we will plan things better
  13. by the way, it seems I will be coming to Tokyo Friday night afterall. Ryoko has work so she wont be able to do anything so I might as well go. I still have to work late so I will arive maybe around 10 or so ...I wonder if I should go to Loud Park on Saturday or not....?
  14. yea I could do that. I was actually thinking about it when I noticed how many I have up there now. Ill get around to it whenever I have some time. Maybe sometime next week
  15. LOL! I honstly dont know how Mogi would react to that. He would either get really pissed or be flattered. I guess it depends on how good you pull it off too.... In any case, it sure will make the night more interesting. I still havnt decided on my costume yet
  16. Matt, yea you should get a camera. I dunno if you should get too serious with Saeko dude, plenty of other fish in Japan that wont get you on bad terms with certain people if you get what im sayin Rod, I mentioned you beat me for the 2nd time. actually I realized I just put that it was at Vegas but you beat me at Akiba, Ill edit it and fix it. Unless, did you actually beat me twice this weekend or did you just mean the 2nd time total? I dont remember btw, im gonna chill here in my town this Friday night. Gonna go do some Karaoke with Ryoko and some other people but I will be in Tokyo on Saturday as ussual probably sometime a little after noon or so. Theres not much going on Friday night so I figured id spent some time around here for a change. See you guys Saturday, and get ready for that club sega Akiba 2 on 2 on Sunday as well
  17. yea I mean basically it was a musical, but it was a little different in the sense that if you were to take out all the acting and just leave the songs it would be just like a normal concert. If you did that to a typical musical it wouldnt work quite the same since the songs are used more to convey actual parts of the story more so than what was going on here whatever, it was cool either way
  18. no, no it did not....
  19. blog updated today... took forever because I had to type half of it twice... grr... pictures are uploading right now.... all 250 of them
  20. LOL man Im bored at work right now so im messing around on youtube and I stumbled upon some OLD ass GGXX vids that were posted 3 hours ago! The entire Midwest vs Texas 5 on 5 from MWC (2004? im guessing) http://jp.youtube.com/results?search_query=ggxx+midwest+vs+texas&search_type=&aq=f 25 matches in total Midwest: Juicy G (using Sol) ElvenShadow Cue (using Slayer.. OLDSCHOOL) Jamarvelous InfalableMP (this was AKA back when he was still in his namingway crisis days) Texas: Fubarduck Kensou R0b0t Genius (whatever happened to him anyway? ) Mopreme just thought this might be intersting for some people for a little nastolgia and im really bored right now so.... enjoy!(?)
  21. ill be in Japan till the 23rd of Dec and I come back to Japan on Jan 7th so we can chill before and after I go back to Chicago
  22. I just remembered that there is an important piece of information I forgot to include in my blog. I updated the most recent blog post but for those who have already read the whole thing and dont wanna go fishing through it here is what I added "Also, while we were walking to Current I asked MekeMeke if he knew anything about the status of this year's DF2 tournament. He said that as far as he knows, there will be no DF2 this year unfortunately. However, he mentioned that G3 is coming up and the qualifiers will be starting in November and it will take place in December. This year I believe it will be a 23 vs 23 with either 4 or 5 teams participating. You choose a prefecture you want to try for and you have to keep playing at that specific arcade. Every qual you go to you earn points, and whichever player, for each character at each location, has the most points, will be put on the team. This is mostly just a Kanto region thing but the prefectures that have teams for sure are Tokyo (duh), Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama... and there might be one more but I dont remember. In any case I'm looking forward to that."
  23. Zaido, I just now saw this thread LOL. Thanks for taking the time to get these vids up, you too hellmonkey with the singles
