What the hell. I don't even have an Underworld Hill 2 on my list of maps. Something seems really wrong when it comes to me trying to enjoy everything in this game. Speaking of seeing everything in the game, I'm only missing one offline achievement (not counting any for Raven... arg): I need 2 Chimakis. I need to know where to find the one in Underworld Hill and the one in stage 16.
-
I like Bel Canto Valley, since it's the level I do well.
-
Wow, I feel dumb for asking this, but I just realized I have no idea how most of the 4-player versions of the stages are laid out, so I need to know... How do you get the 4-player stages in training mode?

It was during this vid http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8109457 And he was dropping units off while running full speed, at the start of the first round, before there were any capture units on the side of the battlefield he was on. Also, I am now really frustrated... Yesterday I was finally going to have the chance to get Raven and the Holy Knights' Fortress, but there weren't any MS points cards cheap enough for me. Then JJJ told me he had a solution, and he transferred his profile that has both onto my drive. We tried it out, and found out that as long as his profile was signed in, I could use both on mine. After playing enough games to be sure that Raven was going to be my main from now on (and killing JJJ's masterghost on the first round in two games in a row), I brought my 360 back home. And now Raven isn't accessible. The Fortress still shows up just fine, Raven is marked as downloaded on my drive, but he never shows up, no matter which profiles are signed in. Arrrg.
-
Thanks! And DAMN, that's depressing about your game. Good thing new copies are cheap, but still, having to replace a game because of Microsoft's crappiness is just pathetic.

Hey, Genma, could you post a link to a vid with a good JP Raven player? I think I'm going to have the chance to DL him soon, and I have the feeling he'll end up my most-played character. And I completely missed that post a while back about ideas for characters we'd like to see in the next GG2. Mine would be: 1)Dr Crow 2)Robo-Ky 3)Potemkin Though this got me thinking about which characters could logically fit as Masters in a future game. I realized that out of the characters we already know, Crow, Venom, Johnny, Potemkin, and maybe Slayer (at least according to one of his AC+ endings) all have large organizations connected to them that they could be ordering around. This would also lead to other characters having to appear in connection to them... and we already have Masters who share armies. ...MAN would a Zepp army have a completely different strategy depending on whether it's headed by Potemkin or Chipp.

Wait, Sol has a guard break into Overdrive combo, and Valentine has a loop? How do these work? Well, my Steam name, surprisingly, is NeoVid.

Since I still can't get online (ARG must download Raven!!), I've been trying to get the last few Campaign achievements. The thing that's really annoying about that right now is finding the Chimakis. Are there any stages that don't have one? I searched almost every inch of the stages Water Drop and Underworld Hill without finding one, and I don't see how one could be on Vs Devil Sin. Also I really hope there's not one on the final boss stage. I can just imagine finding it in all that featureless red... No, wait, I can't imagine finding it. You play TF2? PC, or are you stuck with the X Box version?
-
Huh... Sol's actually on the list of possible competitors for today. But there's also a Final Fantasy character on the list, so he has no chance. Damn widely-known games.
-
The thing I think would be most useful to add would be a list of item effects. I know when I was starting out, I'd have no clue about the importance of items if JJJ hadn't told me he'd beaten me so fast entirely because of Capture Cannons. Also, he learned from fighting JP players that if you want to guarantee a kill on a Master, use Mouth Zipper and Heavy Feet. ...And we need to put together an english version of that wiki.
-
Get at least 1 GG character into the Gamefaqs character battle this year? I'm getting annoyed at seeing SF characters in it, but no one from other, better fighting games.
-
Bonebiter is insanely hard to kill since it makes you deal less damage and heals itself by sacrificing nearby Geroppas and Bowers. Not sure about whether a dispel would make any difference.
-
JJJ actually figured out something decent? Well, I'm surprised. Don't know why he'd care to keep it secret right now... he's not playing again until he gets a working 360.

Ahem... NicoVideo viewing redirector: http://www.mmcafe.com/nico.html

Well, I've just gotten over a long internet fail to watch a lot of the Nico vids you posted, and I'm horribly disappointed not to see any Paradigm play. Also, if I'm lucky, in a couple of weeks I'll finally have the chance to play online, assuming JJJ was right about XBL Silver being able to play on weekends. I need to pick up a point card to get Raven ASAP. And is the Holy Knights Fortress worth it?
-
Most of the critics were pretty incompetent about trying the game out. Though it didn't help that the game never informed you that it's mainly an online multiplayer game, and the campaign is the most minor part. Anyway, something crossed my mind about possibilities for the sequel... I was thinking about GG characters who could work logically as being head of an army, and one quickly came to mind: Professor Crow. I couldn't get this idea out of my mind as soon as I thought of his troops... Melee: Robo-Kys. Armors: Robo-tempkins. Elite Mobile: Justice Copy. Sure would be fun to play.

Keep in mind that I'm the least qualified person here to do an informative guide. It's just that I have to, since this thread is about the only place to find out much about the game, and I'd like to get something up on Gamefaqs someday. Also, right after I finally registered on Nico and then found out that searching for things in English doesn't work, this got linked on the BB: CS thread: http://www.mmcafe.com/nico.html

Really, what we've got now is worth compiling and posting on Gamefaqs. Once it's compiled, it'll be easier to tell what needs to be added.

Sigh... I've made a few attempts to sign up for NicoVideo, so I can see more gameplay footage, but can't get it right... damn. Well, I've had the time and the practice, so I think I can do a decent guide to The Vizuel The tribe shared by Raven and Valentine is the second strongest in the game after Paradigm's, but works nothing like any of the others. Having only one of the three basic unit types, they have to make extremely heavy use of support troops to have any chance against most armies. Fortunately, these servants are some of the best in the game, as well as having a large array of elites to choose from. Still, it's one of the toughest in the game to play well, and requires good knowledge of your opponents, since it's necessary to counter the other team's army makeup. Also, the cheap cost of your units is largely offset by the fact that you'll need to spend a lot of time and mana making mobs of support units to back up your melees... not to mention the fact that your elites are of major importance. Troop types: Candy: A very good basic melee, having more special abilities than any other in the game, all of them useful, and increasing their survivability, making them one of the better defensive units. Unfortunately, you have no other basic troop types, so you're actually not going to be bringing out that many of them... you need to add multiple support units to just about every squad you make in this army, and so Candy's main role is often reduced to meat shield for the support units that actually do the killing. Fortunately, as one of the toughest melees, they make damn good shields. Gateau Skin: A cheap ranged unit, there's really nothing that special about Gateaus, except for the fact that anything that knocks them down (including a careless Master) is likely to regret it afterward. Not very impressive compared to, say, Twin Triggers, but as ranged units can tear up melees, you'll need these guys right away to get yourself the advantage in troops early in the game. One use for them is at the start of the match, immediately order a couple and drop them off at important Ghosts instead of using melees like other armies. They will seriously cripple the enemy melee squads that reach them early on. Professor Blancmange: A good magic unit, you'll need to unlock these guys right away against most opponents, as they're your only counter to armors, which will smash your army otherwise. This alone means you'll make very heavy use of these guys most of the time. Their ability to slow enemies really wrecks armors, as they likely won't reach the professors before being torn up by magic attacks... if you have enough professors to do the job. Charlotte: Your ONLY armor unit, this is an amazingly good unit, being extremely hard to kill, faster than most armors, and even though nowhere near as deadly as Bonebiter, still an enormous pain to fight against. Unlike most elite armors, Charlotte's best use really isn't as the core of your offense. Instead, she's valuable as a solo unit, taking care of alternate routes you can't deal with otherwise. Even alone, Charlotte isn't likely to die to anything, other than running into a mob of mobiles, and who would use mobiles against the Vizuel? Getting rid of Charlotte usually requires the enemy Master taking care of it in person... and with Charlotte's low cost, she'll be back soon even if they do. Mille-feuille: Your ONLY mobile unit, Mille is the most costly unit you get, and is very worth it. Once you have him unlocked, your Master should carry Mille at all times, immediately tossing him into any fight you run across. His summoning of really nasty mobile minions is invaluable, as if he uses his summon near any dead servants, his minions will be able to teleport and cause long stuns, as well as staying even if you pick Mille back up. As a bodyguard elite, Mille might only be matched by Heaven's Libra. Eclair: Your elite ranged might be the least useful of your elites, but is the hardest-to-kill ranged servant in the game. Eclair fires basic shots fairly slowly, but they have an extreme range and great tracking. Also, its high HP is complemented by a defensive retreat it uses on occasion when forced into melee range. When ordered to head to a Ghost, it fires shots that reach from an insane distance to the Ghost, but it uses that skill rarely enough that you shouldn't count on capping anything by surprise. Miss Tiramisu: Elite Magic. One of the most annoying units in the game to fight against, as her basic attack is a huge ball of energy that can't be stopped by anything, and she has the unique ability to keep units from being able to attack at all with a curse. Unfortunately, she doesn't always use this on the enemy Master when she has the chance. Her basic attack makes her devastating to armors, and that alone is likely to make her a necessity not long into a match.

Epic. Keep us updated. Are you gonna put that up on cosplay.com? I've only seen one Arakune and no Tager. I am disappointed at the lack of my mains. ...All these brilliant costumes, and I still haven't been able to get a TF2 Spy outfit together. Man. I've got to try harder.

I do know the combo inputs, thanks to this thread. A lot more people are going to look for that sort of thing on YouTube, since not nearly enough players know that this thread is maybe the best source of info for this game. ...And I found out a few days ago that the spammable projectile method in Survival doesn't work for everyone. Ky was the first guy I tried to beat all the free missions with, and I took JJJ's advice on projectile spamming my way through... and then I found out that Stun Edge only hits one enemy, so it gives you back less tension than you spent on it, and it's too dangerous to go into melee with a lot of the waves of enemies in Survival. I tried again, and smashed everything in Survival with Sin, since all of his specials are great for killing big crowds. Dammit. I want to get the achievements for Paradigm and Ky, but I've repeatedly seen that I'd have an easier time with any of the other characters. If only you got one or two of your skills in Survival... Charge Stun Edge would probably win the mode by itself.

You're going to spend a lot of time and mana unlocking servants with that army. The important thing to remember is that your only counters for other servant types is heavy use of support units. Have plenty of Gateaus out right at the start of the match, since they'll tear up the enemy melees early on. JJJ told me that Val/Raven should start up by bringing out 2 Gateaus and ferrying them to critical Ghosts early, since they'll hold out for a good while against melees. You're going to need to unlock Blancmange, Charlotte and Mille ASAP, and that will take a lot of time, mana and the skill to know which you need most. Mille should be carried around by you at all times, and immediately dropped at the start of any fight, or any place with dead troops that will let Mille's summon go off. ...Hmm. I was planning on writing up the Vizuel next in my servant guides. Might have the time later today. Oh yeah, PandaKing, I was looking at your GG playlist and I have to ask again if you could add the combo inputs to your Valentine/Paradigm/Raven combo vids. I can't figure out how to do them just from watching.

There used to be smileys of the Overture characters... where'd they go?

Dammit, Genma, you wrote up Paradigm right before I got to work on my Servant guides, and I was going to start with Dr P. I'll leave that one for a while, then. Once I do get to it, can I redo some of what you wrote? Also, I happened to run into a new player, gamertag Metalsnake27, who's looking to get serious about the game. All right, on to Servant Breakdown The power of the various tribes tends to be ranked in this order: Paradigm: Excellent Valentine/Raven: Very Good Ky/Sin: Good Izuna: Weak Sol: Suck With the weaker armies tending to be more basic, though harder to actually win with. In these guides, I'll try and do an analysis of all of the Servants in the game, with some basics on how to use the armies. Unfortunately, I'm the only one here with no multiplayer experience, and I can't look up the in-depth info in Exhibition mode's pause screen while I'm writing. Damn. Suggestions welcome... also, I really should register with NicoVideo one of these days. The first army I'll write up is Sin's Tribe This is the most versatile army, being the only one in the game that has every servant type available. The major weakness for them is the fact that they are the most expensive in the game to summon, meaning that you will have the lowest number of troops on the board out of all the Masters. This makes it a difficult army, as you will have to play intelligently to get the most out of your smaller numbers. Getting the majority of the Ghosts is as vital as it is hard. The Illyrian army's versatility means you can have a counterstrategy vs any other Master... but that means you'll spend even more mana unlocking unit types. Swordsman Your only initially available unit, this basic melee has no real downside other than its 225 cost. One of the better melees, due to having a strong secondary attack that does good damage with massive knockback, which they use often. Gauntlet Body Your armor. Not a particularly amazing armor unit, and also seems even slower than most, but solid. The painful mana cost means that these guys won't be showing up right away, and not in big numbers. This hurts, due to armors generally being the most useful troop type. Springbock Few armies get strong mobile units, so these guys can make a big impact on a match. Nearly 100 mana cheaper than Gauntlets, while having the best mobility (surprise) of anything in this army, they're a great counter for the common reliance on armor units... especially since their special skill makes them kill armors faster than any other mobile. Wise Man The magic unit for this army is nothing special. A single Wise Man in a mob of troops can keep defense buffs on many of them, but the fact that you'd use so few Wise Men means you'll probably think twice about spending the time and mana to unlock them. Twin Trigger This is an INSANELY effective ranged unit, firing beams that plow through and knock down any enemies lined up with the shot. A couple of these ladies at the back row of a fight can cripple the enemy with barrages of knockdown shots. Be careful not to let them get in melee and die. Grouping pairs or trios of Triggers and sending them into combat after your other units generally keeps them out of harm's way. Convict Hammer Your elite armor unit works well as the center of your main offense. Being highly difficult to kill, increasing the offense of nearby allies, and even casting dispels often means that you can trust a group of servants backed up by him to take care of themselves in most situations. Amazingly, he isn't even the best elite in this tribe. Quadro Bailiff A heavy-hitting elite ranged, fast as most mobiles, able to take care of itself even at short range... and not really needed in the same army that has Twin Triggers. Damn. Heaven's Libra Elite Magic. The unit that your Master should carry around as his bodyguard, thanks to a single, fight-winning support skill. He puts down rods that completely destroy the damage resistance of any enemy in a huge radius. When your opponents are taking nearly double damage, it's hard to lose a fight. Its one attack lobs a blast that knocks down every enemy in a large radius, also useful for defense.

Well, now that JJJ has given me back a mostly working copy of the game, I've been replaying it, and a few thoughts came to mind... Where the hell are the Chimakis? It's interesting how Valentine mostly used Mobiles and Armors in the story mode, but doesn't have either of her signature units in multiplayer. ...It seems weird that Ky and Dizzy aren't actually married, now that I think of it. If there's anyone who could find a sympathetic priest who could could be trusted to keep quiet, it's the former leader of the Holy Order. Anyway, I've been picking up a few achievements and trying to actually use some of the techniques I've been told about, and I don't totally suck. I think. I'm still desperately trying to learn level layouts... I can't figure out what to do on Illyria2 to keep it from turning into a giant mob of servants fighting in the one way through the middle of the map. At least I beat the CPU most of the time... Though I play as Ky or Dr P vs Sol or Izuna, so it's not exactly even. I'm thinking I'll do writeups on the servants. I've got the time, and my instruction manual back.
