Heh, I was actually wondering about how many non-DL campers you guys had to share the front of the store with. I should have been more specific! Also, what you all did for bathroom breaks. -

The ad hasn't been released yet. How many other campers were there last year? -

Yah, I'll most definitely pick it up - I almost got a PS3 *just* for Demon Souls some time ago. I've had lots of fun with nethack and shiren the wanderer, and I hear DS is pretty much a roguelike with modern graphics. EDIT - Also, Monster Hunter is amazing. The PSP versions seem to be the way to go, but if ever there were a MH w/generously updated DLC on a next gen console you could hook up to a big ass television, that'd be the thing to get. Seems almost a shame to fight enormous dinosaurs and dragons on a tiny PSP screen D: -

I needs a PS3 for that AH3. And maybe a PSP for various other things. ...and I told myself that I wouldn't buy one of everything for this generation of gaming consoles. Stupid MH3. -

I'll be running GG on both of my TV sets. I'm sure ppl will play it, it sounds like the BB regulars are playing a *lot* more Guilty Gear than I am these days, heh. -

I guess I won a Super Puzzle Fighter messenger bag along with my fight money. Looks like it's just the right size for a joystick! :D They forgot to give it to me at the venue, so they'll be shipping it out soon. Which is mighty cool of them. -

Going to host general gaming December 4th - I'd like to get a few hosting sessions in while I can, before the MH lease expires. All are welcome, naturally! ... got 1700 something meters so far, have a pretty good idea of what I have to do to dramatically improve the score. Surprisingly deep for a critter launching game! EDIT - Corrected date -

Tokido is a monster Japanese ST (claw), Third Strike (chun, akuma), and now, apparently, BB player. Wouldn't be surprised if he beasts at SF4, too -

Synthesis - It's *all* fun and games until the HEAT DEATH OF THE UNIVERSE It wasn't Watches, it was the Rachel player I mistook for Orrax when I first saw him. He seemed much more defensive than Watches and favored ground based oki to you and Watches' crossup based oki. He knew the Baiken matchup well enough to know when I wanted to kabari (he'd counter those often) but he seemed a bit flummoxed by 1f counters. His execution was better than mine was, lol. He got around 3 wins on me before I rallied with a 3 streak of my own. -

...so tired I couldn't have got a better bracket if I paid off the guy who made it. Choi didn't show up. This was a godsend, Ryu can fuck Cammy up, and patient Ryus especially. My first real fight was against some guy named Red Rapper who I'd never heard of before. I think he used Ryu, but I didn't expect to lose to him and he failed to surprise or shock me into thinking different. After this was Snake Eyez, the monster Gief who took EVO. For whatever reason, he chose to fight me with Ryu right off the bat. I fought it with confidence, believing at the time that this was a blunder on his part. He switched to Gief afterwards and beat me pretty handily our second game, but our third match I managed to beat him, getting a perfect round 1, losing round 2, then zoning him to death round 3. Winning that match got me into the finals. I think if SE had used Gief from the outset, things would have been different. According Kuroppi, his Ryu is amazing, but I didn't know that. While I'm terrified of his Gief, I'm not so scared of his alts. My first fight in the top 8 was versus Count Fuddulous. This match was probably the closest thing to having to fight one of you guys in a GG tournament I experienced at SCR - I've fought Fudd a fuckton on XBL, and we've been on friendly terms for many months. I think this made it an uphill battle for Fudd. If he had never fought me before, I think he would have done much better vs. me. Because of our prior experience, I was much more relaxed during this match than I was for my matches vs. Valle and Daigo After that I fought Valle. I was nervous and butterfingered some stuff (including a TOD opportunity D:), and even though Valle did a bit as well, I'm sure it was because he was rusty and not because he was frightened of me (if I'd TOD'd him, then maybe I'd have made him nervous) . He beat me pretty handily. After this I fought Daigo. I was almost relieved to do so, due to his exclusive use of Guile during the tournament. I feel I know the Guile matchup very well - even though Guile vs. Cam is heavily in Guile's favor, I feel that it's almost like the Sim matchup (which is heavily in Cam's favor) - things go well for Guile if he can keep Cam out, but if Cam gets close enough to knock him down so that she may cross him up on oki, things get a lot more even - I can choose to perform standard oki, or go for a lk crossup that forces Guile to choose between suffering mixup, or eating a drill if he tries to flash kick out (which gives Cam a knockdown and another xup opportunity). Also, Daigo is not familiar with HDR Cam properties. This is why I was able to land a super on him. Same for Valle, I believe. Sadly, Daigo was able to keep me out for the most part and I was too timid to try for a simple tick the one time I recall landing a crossup lk (block) on him. Also, I thought for some reason that this game was 3/5. Even though I had just lost the FT2 winner's finals. Derp. Ah I also got to play some GG today vs. the Axl playing guy, some Faust player and Dr. Stormlocke. That was fun, even tho I got shut out by Stormlocke -

This is why I kept hosting for 6-8 months after I burnt out w/hosting. People need to get bigger places! In my ideal world, there would be 3-4 Melty Hauses out there among the player base, and they'd take turns hosting. Heh. How very Hellmonkey-y of you! -

Heh. I saw that you were interested in a Japanese PS2, but I assumed you already had a US PS2. Oops! You might want to hit up the trading threads on the shmups forum, I think you'll find more Japanese PS2 owners there than say SRK or D/L: http://shmups.system11.org/viewforum.php?f=4&sid=377bac985f85912e1112404167004e98 -

Angelic - I can sell ya a used NTSC-NA copy of AC that will work just fine on an American PS2 for $5. Instruction booklet and minor disc scratches included! which reminds me... Vince - Go ahead and keep my wonky PS2 since I never got around to giving you your season winnings for BB. I didn't set any money aside from the BB ranbats I ran at the MH for the season pot- 100% of the entry fees were distributed among the 1-3 place winners for those ranbats - and I never got around to getting w/Jaeron to collect the UAT portion. -

Right on, glad to hear he got something arranged. But yeah, I *was* kinda hoping to have a social wingman or two for the ride - I have an easier time not being painfully awkward around people I don't know if I'm with someone I *do* know. And Ted in particular is amazing at killing awkward silences before anyone even has a chance to hear them. Oh, well! Worst case scenario, I'll get to know one or two new people. And annoy them with my music. -

Ted - A PSX controller, eh? I like PSX controllers... Marvin couldn't get the time off for SCR, but it sounds like one or more of his friends might still be interested in carpooling from Tucson to Mesa, and then carpooling with me from Mesa to Cali and back. Get in touch w/Marvin if you're still interested in going to SCR, he might could get you a seat in the Tucson-Mesa carpool. -

Ryd - You can use the shoulder buttons to ascend/descend in the default scheme, but it's still very clunky. As for getting a PSP, I'm really tempted to. It just seems like a bit of a waste to fight great big thundering beasts on a teeny tiny screen! And I'm kinda scared of how the PSP might handle, I can hardly play the more active DS games for longer than 30 minutes at a time without my hands cramping up. -

Yeah, I'm jealous that none of that stuff will ever be added to the Wii port. Well worth the loss of underwater combat!
