Arizona "Arcsys Release Dates Give Us Erectile Dysfunction", Thread

Oh hey, I played that all last Saturday at my brother's house. He took to the game more enthusiastically than I did - he's HR 49 while I'm still running around at 41. I'm so proud, he usually quickly loses patience for the twitchier games! What HR are you at these days? -

Ryd - Fate, that's how! I got it from a webcomic that someone posted to reddit a few days ago: http://nerfnow.com/comic/392 Pretty sure english isn't the guy's first language, hence the pro grammar in the 2nd panel. As game related webcomics go, it's pretty mediocre, but Cammy's expression was just too good. -

Marvin and one of his friends. Dunno the name, but if they're cool with Marvin then I'm happy to meet em. It's a little bit in the air at this point. Once I get the OK from my coworker and supervisor - and I'm pretty sure I will - I'll make the reservations. Marvin still needs to clear it w/work too, but he also expects he'll get the time off. -

K, looks like there's just one seat left in the Yaris. Not quite sure what the room situation is yet. -

Oh hey, they're gonna use 360s to run HDR at SCR! ...and the room rates look pretty good, too. I might have to go to this thing. If I do, I've got room in my car for anyone who needs a ride. I'm afraid I can't drive to Tucson to pick anyone up or drop them off. I'd be happy to pick up ppl from the bus station near Sky Harbor, tho! :D Yeah, gonna ask for the time off tomorrow. If I get the OK, gonna rent a 2 bed room at the Doubletree for three nights, so if there's any crowding issues at the moment, I'd be happy to help with that as long as ppls pitch in their share towards the nightly rate. -

Chuck Norris blows strangers for cab fare, then walks home. There is no chin underneath Chuck Norris' beard - a fact which fills him with shame and profound feelings of inadequacy. Some people wear Superman underoos. Chuck Norris puts them on over his adult disposable briefs. Chuck Norris cheats at Connect Four, then loses anyway. Chuck Norris' tears cure cancer. Too bad he has congestive heart failure. -

I might start hosting 4-6 person Guilty Gear sessions again. I don't know when I'll do open house type stuff again. The burnout was pretty severe. CS usually treated me well. On that note, HDR also has the decency to tell you what your actual ping is. None of that color coded bar bullshit! -

Haha, I like it a lot! I think the netcode is up there w/CS's and a bit better than sf4's (dunno how ssf4 is) - anything < 100 ms is perfectly playable and very much like the offline experience. 115+, things start getting into battling flowcharts territory. -
How I wish they'd waited until they made a 360/PS3 port of AC with quality netcode to do this.

I was worried it'd be gimped GG or no GG at all. FFS. What horrible news. -

True, that. I also figured all the ST he played back in the day left its mark on him, too. -

Heh, I ended up getting knocked to losers by mongolorobokop (who ended up getting first) and eliminated by sabre (who ended up getting second). It was kinda embarrassing losing to Sabre. I mean, there's no shame in losing to an in shape sabre, but I think I've put maybe 700-1000 hours into HDR this year, while Scott's put in like... zero hours and zero minutes. OTOH, it was awesome that mongolo, synco and moocus managed to make it out from Cali. I was really worried that there'd be no one there for HDR but local AZ ppl. Despite my tournament performance I did well vs. synco and moocus in casuals, and not too bad vs. mongolo - 8-11, his favor. And I managed to beat the Cammy out of Mongolo during the tournament - he had to resort to Chun Li and her big fat fireballs to get rid of me. -

So it turns out that the HDR celebrities I thought were going to be at the tournament tomorrow weren't able to make it out. I don't even know if I want to go anymore. -

... I hope so. It'd be kinda cool to see some DLers while I'm down there. I've been really looking forward to this Saturday - it's my chance to publicly not use turbo in front of some rather well-known HDR players. -

(FAN) POLL TIME! What should Aksys port next? http://www.aksysgames.com/forums/topic/881/page/2?replies=48#post-10326 I voted for the Guilty Gear, but you all can vote for whatever you want. ...so long as it's Guilty Gear. EDIT - Ah, it's a fan poll and not an official one. -

I'm in the mood for some Guilty this Saturday, but the Melty Haus hosting moratorium is still in effect. Anyone hosting? -
I suggest SSF4 to those looking for a low risk, low reward environment. Such people might also want to try IaMP. On a computer that's barely able to run it.

<3 MST3K. The Cave Dwellers episode was the first one I ever saw- it's the inspiration for my dustloop and xbl handles! - you wouldn't believe the number of people who thought I was Irish or making some sort of drug reference. I'll always have a soft spot for Manos, though. I moved to AZ from the city it was made. -

She sounds like she just isn't as gung-ho about competitive games as you are. You'll prolly have better luck introducing the game to someone who's about as into competitive games as you are, or finding someone who already likes Guilty Gear. As it stands, there's a real possibility that your sister will react to your pressure & the increasing disparity in your respective skill levels by dropping fighting games altogether.
