Not even the speculation gods amongst US players can save us. It's almost as if only time will tell. -

Shieeet, dat new info on the patch. I'm eating my words, they're adding new moves and apparently doing revisions on some of the game's rules. All in japanese though. Apparently there's content and not just tweaks. Coming out to consoles in may. UMAD will be a "1 month into the game" tourney? yoooooooooooooooooooooooo https://twitter.com/hc0519 "kokonoe’s activate(236D) only works in the combo aka you can’t use it in the footsie and oki and anywhere else" "Kokonoe nerf: more restrictions on the chain route, herf on combo dmg, harder to go into UB setups, but she have got new moves" WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOOOWOWOWWOWWW -

Here's a little analogy: There were discussions about potentially banning characters in Marvel 3 around last september for I don't know what motive other than "Interesting game balance". Do you see these opinions having any credibility or effect on reality? I fail to see why they'd do. They're interesting thought ideas though and the conversation never went any further than that. The only difference in between this analogy and BBCP is that you care about one game and not the other, but in the big picture, speaking your mind won't have any effect on what's played in tournaments or on other players. I'll only know where you stand and why you're pissed about it. I'm sorry for you if that's the case, but I'd rather be blunt about it and respond with "Ok now what are you gonna do about it once you've complained about it?" Only reason why I'm being this way about it is because I fail to see what someone gains by repeating it. I'm assuming that doing so doesn't make you move on and I'd rather have people do after some time. Maybe my whole perception on this and how it affects the people themselves is dead wrong. If so let me know why you think so, I'm genuinely curious. -

Cool, except that 1. All speculation until released and 2. Even if people talk about it now or after said patch, it's not having any effect on reality. Just play instead of making yourself feel good about telling everyone about what YOU dislike in a video game's balance and design. -

Fuck I missed that. Playing his Jin is so enjoyable. -
I could be wrong, I won't deny it. Didn't actually do the math for the numbers I posted.

It's pretty simple actually, 5B > 2C will more reliably have the opponent at the same horizontal and vertical spacing making it easier to convert afterwards. Less chance of having to adjust failing to do 5B > 5C > 6C in the desired manner. It's also faster meaning you're less likely to be bothered by untech/hitstun decay by the end of the combo. Only negative trade here is that you're losing damage. If you don't use all hits on your early attacks in a combo, that's where you'll be losing the most damage. These attacks are far less scaled in damage this early in the combo. If you don't use 5C(2), you'd lose the current damage scaled % on 300 damage according to the frame data. That's gotta be close to 250. If you also do the same with 5B's hits, you're losing a bit less than 200 per missing hit. So if your combo goes 5B(2) > 2C > 6C instead of 5B(3) > 5C(2) > 6C, the damage difference is easily close to 400 damage. If the end damage is 4k, that's 10% potential damage loss. But still, take what works in the end.

Well... I think it was kr3wman who pointed "If the whole top 8 is one character, it's hard to not think about it at this point. Otherwise fuck it" Couldn't agree any more -

The thing, you don't explicitly do any of that. Out of all the "pro" or high level players that could consider competing or picking up this game, I can't seriously think they get that much free monetary value out of it. I used Nemo earlier iirc for my argument and at last year's EVO, Nemo didn't win anything in the marvel tournament. He's not sponsored so he shoulders travel costs (Plane ticket from Japan to us, lodging, etc.). If anything, he was competition in grudge money matches because he wrecked havoc that weekend on many players willing to put money on the table and bet on a long set. If he plays blazblue, very few individuals will put down as much money as the capcom crowd in money matches. Our tournaments have lower turnouts as well. Even if you rank first at EVO, it's not a whole lot to go about. It's something, but it's not /that/ big to say they'd just be in it for the money. I see 4 reasons with various degrees of importance: 1. Some people look at this community and say we're cry babies for thinking about banning her. Whether or not you value the opinion of people who wouldn't necessarily play or pick your game is up to you. I find this one weak because I frankly don't care that much. In the bigger scale of things, it's not increasing active players and having a low turnout might affect how much importance a tournament organizer will give you. 2. If you're to enforce a ban, it has to be consistent. This is so important, yet easily overlooked. What basis are you proposing a ban that would also stand true for whoever else fit the criteria? Logically, if your criteria has a good foundation and is agreed upon, it should be applied across the board. "She's dumb" is a gross simplification of the actual issue and a poor criteria to ban a character. "But she's really dumber than the rest of the cast" still doesn't draw a line where a character should be banned or not. Depending on the context, it might be easy or not. The best context is evidence. What most people against the ban will say is "Prove me she can establish a convincing amount of results in tournaments first". Video evidence of tech is not enough because training mode != playing an actual match. 3. This is more my pet peeve, but going for a ban at anytime is treating a competitive environment the wrong way. A ban is an out-of-game solution for an in-game problem. If you say that banning is the best way to deal with the problem, then you're just avoiding or not accepting it for what it is and what could be done inside of the game to attempt resolving the issue. Whether it be something you don't consider fun or fair to adjust to is considered ban worthy or not, then you're not fully honest in saying you're competing. The game, it's balance and it's rules are set in stone and it's up to the competitor to deal with those. Competition, to me, shouldn't care about your opinions on these things. The moment you dislike an aspect of a game is the moment it'll take you longer to learn to deal with it appropriately. Don't get me wrong though, that doesn't mean you should be forced to play as a serious competitor. You can choose whatever suits you best when it comes to enjoying a fighter and it's competitive aspects. But if any part of the game doesn't match your view of competitive merits, then don't try and change it for those that actually don't mind said things and try to win. Whether it be learning learning to deal with Kokonoe's Bullshit or my personal favorite tonight of Valk's "You need to IB everything" mixup game, the best way to address all in-game problems is with in-game solutions. If you don't want to, it's your problem and yours only. 4. This is kind of the reality check that even if you enforce a ban on her, you're only affecting competitive events. Try banning her from casual or online play. In theory, you'd also desire for any player to be treating the game with the same rules. If the US starts banning her at local events, other scenes are not playing the same game in a way. If Japan doesn't ban her but we do, the idea of traveling to go to Japan and play over there means I won't be competition over there. That'll probably be the last time I'll talk about it online, walls of text are long to write and read. If I misphrased something, feel free to ask me though and I'll reply right here. But gonna avoid long walls because this is the gist of all I believe on the Koko-no-way deal -

4. Pro gamers are very visible and influent amongst other players who might have not picked up the game. And also, the way you phrased is kind of circular reasoning. "Easier ride to first place" ? How is it catering to them? They're not pros because they get a free pass to get results when competing. You're not first because you're pro because you get a free pass to first. You still have to work to get there amongst others guys competing, no? If anything, this means more people being dedicated to pushing the game's competition level to as high as they can be. Realistically speaking, if you ban Koko at EVO, your preparation time is partly in jeopardy because of a rule to be added. This can affect whether we have international beasts flying in for the tourney or not. They're currently playing with Koko and Japan won't ban her if EVO does, so the value they see in EVO lowers drastically if they can't use it locally as well. So we'd lose competition currently willing to deal with it and play along. But it kind of defeats the purpose of a competition if you change rules because some people don't like what the character can pull off in training room. Or rather, why hold a competition for some people who claim they'd compete if the rules weren't as they currently are while you already have competitors in the current state of the game. -

We haven't explicitly discussed this. All I want to know is whether or not this is the deciding factor for you to attend the event or not. Genuinely curious -
Considering 5C is reliably 4k material. I'm not uncomfortable with the idea of throwing 5C over Gekiren. Gekiren RC for slightly lower than 5K at the cost of 50 meter, bigger commitment on startup and recovery as well.

Going j.B into j.C instead of j.2C leads to gratuitous damage lol.

To note, some these combos are really cool and the damage is nuts, but they run untech time giving the opponent air tech on Gosei. Depending on the starter, you can find a slightly less damaging version that'll grant knockdown. Though in some cases, the damage is just so high I'd argue it could be worth it. 4.3k off 5C anti-air? Any day Some really cool things in there, eagerly looking to volume 2.

No prob, been holding travel debts for longer than that and so long as we remember them, it's fine by me to push it another week. Mostly if people don't like carrying cash on them for no reason
