Focusing on the result of a match is kind of meaningless when you start to play against people. What's more important is trying to understand what lead to the defeat. Chances are that when playing against a player often times, you'll get hit in a way or be put in a bad scenario pretty frequently. If you aren't aware of it and just see the loss, then you are completely unaware of a recurrent problem in the way you play. If you don't know the cause(s) that determines the outcome of a match or a set of matches, then there's hardly any reason to be mad at the loss itself as it was beyond your understanding of what you did wrong. Basically, you make abstraction of the whole process why you lose and just focus on the loss itself. And btw, it's okay to not understand something or see what problems you might have right away, but going back and explaining why either you won or loss will help you deal with the result and provide you with something meaningful to improve upon Another conception to drop IMO is that time investment is directly related to either skill level or win percentage. I get that playing a lot would lead to believing you have reached a certain skill level, but again it ignores the whole process of improving and just gives you a meaningless number value. To put it in a metaphor, I could say I've been cooking instant noodles for 3 years now, have tried stuff left and right and because of those 3 years of eating and cooking instant noodles on a daily basis, I can safely say that I feel confident I'm a good or at least ok cook. Then you ask me to cook some filet mignon and I wonder why I can't do it. In this little comparison, the instant noodles is the AI and the filet mignon (or any other dish) would be the people you can play on netplay. TL:DR; I think you attribute value to stuff that doesn't provide you with a solution or meaningful way to go about it.

CECC update: We'll probably leave on friday from montreal around 5-6pm. Don't mind picking you up psykotik, but be advised: -We'll probably arrive late due to leaving mtl while there's traffic and picking you up. Talking about 1-2 am. -Can you afford 2 days of hotel? Me, Brice and Lvl-5 are ok with it, just gotta know if on your end that's fine (Both psykotik and reyntime) @Psykotik, if it's not on these terms, I'll just say that picking you up would be just demanding a bit too much on my (our) end. Unless maybe there's a better option you'd have in mind? -

Cool cool, just make sure to double check whether or not you can register venue fee at the door with russel or something. According to their rules, you could get spectator and just sign up for blazblue, saving your gas part in the process. We'll (Brice and prob lvl-5) sort out some details tonight as to whether or not we accomodate our plans for Psykotik and whatever else is needed here. Probably an update tomorrow about it. -

:D, that's neat. Then quick reminder, for the toronto event, the limit to say whether or not you'd be coming would be the pre-reg closing date, AKA sunday 13th if I'm not mistaken. -

I can definitely come now and then, probably nothing on the level of a schedule, tonight I was busy playing the gears who had done wrong and felt bad about it. If you're reading this Kaeru, I found my wallet -,- -

No you're free tonight! >:3 I can drive there myself, but if you could just text me the address and time at which I could arrive, it would also add your number back in my contact's list due to my recent phone upgrade. -

Now, let me impress you while playing! We don't live too far from each other, been a while (AKA too long) since I last saw and played you. If you can't come to us, I'll come to you. You don't have a say on this! (Actually you do, too unaware of your situation tbh). -

Yeah, whether or not it's NEC or another one less crowded tournament, matters not. I can respect whatever you choose in the end as I'm not you and your reasons are very personal. But Psykotik brings up a fantastic point, whether it's breaking a tournament losing streak in Philly, win some money at local in Ottawa, sleep throughout BB and GG in Toronto, eat some Taisho in New york, show Montreal to our fellow american players, get exploded by Souji's Teddie at 3 AM in the hotel room, the tournament experience is bound to let you meet people, have a good time and care for them. I'll even add to it and say that if you care for the people you'll still spend time with, it can be a perfect fuel to motivate improvement. This is super personal here and I'm not saying I'm right, but I've always wanted to contribute in the FGC in the various ways I can. For a while, I didn't think the best asset you could provide this community would be improving as a player. When you play someone that you'll only meet in 3-4 months after that one weekend, when you talked to them about the game, when you start connecting with them through playing, you want more ways to improve that connection with people. Playing the game and understanding it's mechanics is a conduit for communication, almost like speaking a language. I've felt the barrier of interacting through fighting games with another person at last year's NEC, think it was me playing an hour or so of guilty gear casuals with Troll Badguy I believe. Had barely been playing for a month, but he was patient, understood that my skill level was low and just played it out while being friendly. There was not a super active interaction between us because I had no idea wtf to do outside of press the buttons on the controller. Then it clicks, the reason why everyone travels and meet each other is because of this communication tool called a video game that's fun and entertaining as hell. Being more knowledgeable, playing and evolving as a player gives me far more tools to maximize the enjoyment out of meeting new players to fight against. It's a mutual exchange, whether it be them motivating me or me reaching a point where I can motivate other players to experience a something close to mine, in the end we both win. I want to get better so you can get better to and vice versa. And that's the best asset you can have to contribute to the FGC and for yourself as well. Heck, that even brings back the reason I picked up a copy of BB around January/february. Saw people having fun, matches looked entertaining so I decided to fuck around with Ragna, now I'm motivated enough to be a good moderator for my character's boards on Dustloop and in 3 weeks, I want him to be my best character across all fighting games I've played. When's october... oh wait Anyway, I doubt we'll end up in a situation where we are limited in available car spots and that this is what will truly prevent someone to attend. If someone can't come, it'll most likely be their schedule or money constraints. We'll see. Again, not saying what's right for me is right for you. But damn the list of stories to share is long haha -

If we're going 5 days, 2 of those will be road traveling, one of them is a side-event for casuals and food/drinks at a bar, sunday might have a side event (prob not) or might just a time to relax playing games or watch tournament finals, saturday is the tournament day. All of them will imply casual games in the hotel room with unknown amounts of drinking by unknown individuals during after hours until way too late in the morning. I get the reasons behind that self-imposed pressure, but it's not 5 days of straight-up competition And you can hardly be undeserving of these parts -

As much as I want to say yes (And believe me I do), the only way to make that happen is if we leave either super early on saturday or if we leave friday and arrive pretty darn late and book an extra night. The second option is fine by me, I'm not entirely sure as for Brice + Lvl-5 yet. First option not so much, don't want to sleep through BB and GG like I did last time. This also means we have to arrive home later on sunday, feasible for me, but I can hardly imagine dropping the other 2 guys at their place considering our respective locations equate to a triangle around the island of Montreal lol. TL:DR; I'm not giving anything final here, will just check if the other 2 don't mind it because at the current time, I more or less don't -

Judging by this sort of comment by the company, I'm assuming they submitted the patch and it's now only waiting to go through the approval process set up by PSN for any game update. Just a blind guess, If I'm right then it should be within a month or so. All speculation obviously. Now tournament talk! We are going to CECC in Toronto which is happening the weekend before BBCP hits (19th of october). Pre-reg ends the sunday before on october 13th. I'll be booking the hotel room (1-night stay). We're currently 3. Let me know if you want to come and if that's the case, go pre-reg in the process http://torontotoptiers.com/ceccprereg/ As for NEC, there's one spot left in my car. Again, I'm leaving on thursday and driving back monday to arrive throughout the evening or late night. Of course, I shouldn't be the only driver going (would suck if it was the case) and I'm always down to get a van rental provided we're enough that can take thursday to monday off. As for now what is currently planned is only my car with 4 available spots (5 would be possible too, but it'd be not-comfy + one guy with no bed in my hotel room). If you want to be in my car, a few individuals are in a "I might be available thursday too, but I don't know yet" kind of situation. We're getting closer and it's so much easier if this is all sorted out as early as possible, so PLEASE UPDATE YOUR SITUATION AS CLEARLY AS POSSIBLE IN THE SANKISHIN THREAD IF YOU WANT TO COME AND HAVN'T DONE SO ALREADY. I cannot keep everyone's schedule on my mind effectively. So far, the only confirmed I've got tagging in my ride are Airmaster and DHAOS. Other people should make their preparations as well. If you still want to come, booking a room before the group rate is unavailable is a pretty important to consider for those not sleeping in mine. To not clog up this thread with prep-talk too much, if you could do it here instead, there won't be unnecessary updates to this particular thread http://sankishin.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=242 Good shit for the passport btw -
Backwards DP and half circle input issues hoping for some helpful hints.

Seconded, makes a training session feels less of a boring grind as well as practice for a move to come out whenever you want and not just whenever you're ready and comfortable. And just for that 10%, learning it correctly is better than grinding DP motions later on to actually get it right. -

Yes-ish. Used to be the least crowded meetup day for a while, Air would have his weekend on that evening instead of the actual weekend, the gundam players were still in vacation. It just was the day that fitted everyone's schedule the best. Though that's not implying it was a meetup day every week. -

All the other days are active enough for the place to keep being what it is I assume? I'd love to know, if it means going to foonzo slightly more often, I'm all for that. If it means ordering more fries, I PERSONALLY WANTED TO GAIN WEIGHT ANYWAY -

I can totally understand that, don't stress yourself over it. I was just wondering how by your criteria it would even have been possible to go there, dodge bus costs or something alike and avoid paying for an hotel. I'm like... naaaah I'm not making that compromise as the main driver and owner of the car that will be used lol. -

Oh and I didn't end up asking, but is it that you're short on money or trying to save some while going? I'm all up for the idea of having you tag along, just gotta know what's the motive behind not paying for a shared hotel room. And I re-looked at my post, 75 shared costs is slightly lower than what we usually do when thinking about it again. It's not extremely higher, but that was pretty cheap I'd say. -

Just like 90% of the trips we do, split gas costs and hotel. Toronto can be a one night stay, an hotel usually being lower than 150/night and gas being 100 total for the trip, you're looking at roughly 75$~ shared costs. To this you add food/tournament and whatever else you might think of for yourself. A trip like this can be done with 150$ fairly easily. I wouldn't bother if you were to find someone willing to house you and dodge the hotel costs split, it's just what we usually do as it's easier once you're there. Paying for the convenience of staying where the event is happening is something neat, especially if you left home at 6AM to get to a tournament on the same day. When it's past 8-10pm, driving is just "Fuck that shit, let's find food within walking distance and go to sleep" material Talking mostly about day 1, but that's what I was wondering myself. As for week 1, I might be looking to organize a series round robin pools or something at some point during that week to get more players interested in the game. Possibly the MTLSF guys willing to try the game on a friday. That or go to foonzo way too oftenly during the first week(s). We'll see -

CECC tournament, toronto, weekend before CP hits. Me, Brice, Lvl5. Anyone else interested? EDIT: If some of us are to find a way to get the day off on the day CP hits and we don't have the physical copies yet, is there a plan or location where we can play before foonzo opens on digital? If I'm gonna ask for time off, I'd rather know this or be sure that I have my copies available. -

140 characters will never be enough to contain any gimmick he'll find (Unless it's a youtube link) On another note entirely, NEC hotel is booked on my part from thursday for a 4-day stay, AKA leaving on monday
