  1. Woah there, we wouldn't want to fall into stereotypes, some people uses their skis or even snowshoes. Don't spread a bad image of us like that man.
  2. It's still missing a portait of Queen Liz
  3. I figured it oughta be good for others to have a comprehensive and in-depth guide on Canada before coming to MAD. I put a lot of effort into this, thank me later.
  4. Doesn't feel like a move would be a good anti-air BECAUSE it has fast startup. Doesn't have a thing to do with that, it's probably got a good vertical hitbox. I wouldn't also assume it's one of the fastest simply because if amane is being rushed down, he has less tools to deal with the pressure, having a fast 5A would actually help in such a situation. That maybe due to the fact that I'm still used to the importance of 3 frame jabs in SSF4AE, feel free to tell me otherwise so I can adjust my mindset regarding such details in anime fighters if I'm completly wrong on this
  5. There isn't much to say really... unless you have a dire need to overcome the language barrier of french. Even then, I'd be surprised myself if you couldn't deal with any situation because you don't speak french considering you'll be inside of Montreal.
  6. What if I said I prefered that :P Though I'll probably agree that based on the fact that they use frozen ingredients, it could very well be low tier.
  7. Yeah but it would still be 1000x better than what I've been told people who came to MAD tried, AKA Harvey's poutine... I disagree with you, the poutine at foonzo is really really good, maybe it's just because I like the fries and sauce and havn't tried the fancy famed stuff yet myself, but w/e. At the end of the day, poutine is sort of like pizza. Even if it's bad or average, it's still enjoyable.
  8. Tentative for second week of june. Although we HAVE NOT CONFIRMED THE DATE YET God's gift upon his children Although La Banquise would most likely be the perfect spot for poutine, the one they serve at our venue is godlike enough for us to stay there until the place shuts down for the day.
  9. Never thought of it that way, makes sense thanks for dropping knowledge bombs.
  10. Had this discussion with some of the MTL guys on our way back from NEC. Since Atlus is not the publisher, we might not see a region lock on this game making it entirely possible to order Japanese versions of the game earlier. If you do so, you can shrink that 5-6 to 3-4 months.
  11. Can anyone point me to or maybe help me with a little detail. I want to make myself a custom art for an amane stick and I'd like to have a clear shot at the pose he has during his reversal super. Can anybody point me to a video with decent resolution and/or sprite rips? I'd then vectorize the image so size won't matter. But I even wonder if I could find a video with decent resolution anywhere...
  12. But she looks in a coma or some shit... that's not cute at all :S
  13. How do you actually go about having solid fundamentals faster than you would get them by just playing the game a lot... It's been nagging at me for like the whole past month ;_;
  14. Not just ragna, but there's a lot to note from this on hariken drills. 1st: You can hit the drill to nullify it. It remains visually there, but it seems to cancel it. In the same video, Ragna tries to hit a badly spaced drill with 2A and after seeing that segment, it makes more sense then whiffing a low poke at midscreen for no reason. 2nd: Since there's a hurtbox, you can trigger properties such as making an attack that whiffs into a blocked attack. This allows to trigger rapid cancels off a drill that's been hit. At close range like in the video, Ragna DPs a drill he was obviously about to eat and Shadow blocked and used barrier even though HE NEVER GOT HIT himself nor blocked the attack. You wouldn't do that at say midscreen Hariken for the simple the reason that you mentionned, 6D will hit you. But if you try anything at that range against a DP, you'll eat it and since he rapids, I assume you'd eat a certain amount of damage. So if the opponent has 50 meters, you are better off BLOCKING a few frames to see if he DPs and as soon as you can establish he did or actually decided to block the drill, you shouldn't press a button unless it is to get away or reposition yourself. Besides the obvious marvel casuals where you drank a bit, we didn't talk much and I was never under the impression that you were annoying.
  15. And nvm about me going to foonzo tonight... no planning = no car besides later on and I don't feel like taking the bus for it, AKA pay way too much for a ride to MTL.
  16. Meh why not, I'll come tonite most likely and skip thursday instead as I have something else to attend to.
  17. Back from NEC, hype weekend. Was cool meeting ShinSyn and Aloci. Now time to catch up on vids. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7uD2pFE1Do Lots of stuff I've observed that I don't think have been brought up in this video. @2min13 Shadow baits a DP with a backdash. He dashes in to get the punish and hesitated a few seconds. The combo he did off 5B CH seemed to be the safest and most reliable punish you could get but with a lower reward. I wondered if you could have gotten more and I saw it later in the video. @3min24 Same setup, no backdash and plenty of time to use his j.Fatal move, dunno which one it is. Unfortunately he drops it, but this will probably be the best starter for close range punishes. Makes sense. Also, fabhop -> j.B > j.A looks fabulous at baiting DPs. I'm assuming that floaty j.B has trouble linking into ground attacks hence why players could DP right after it and blow up amane's who think it's a true blockstring. I'm certain there's a gap to be exploited and a good bait setup for us to use. @2min18 He does the hariken drill and presses 6.C after. Is it just me or the startup looks VERY similar to 6.D? When he first did it, I assumed it was actually 6.D considering Hariken drill was out. I don't know if we could bait people into holding back thinking they'll eat a drill and just use that moment to reposition ourselves or do something else. It's about exactly what he does in the video right after. 6.C does look like it has less recovery. I'm not entirely sure it would be efficient unless your opponent is scared though. @2min45 That super really comes out fast. Travels a long distance and could be a combo opener. I'm starting to think that finding setups that can be punished by this super could be crucial when playing with drill levels. It's an added threat that your opponent might not be aware of since he might not now what and what can't be punished. He'll also have to be more cautious because if your drill is leveled, for the same tool and ressources, you get a better reward. I really like this idea. @2min53 I know this ain't really amane related, but look at how long the OD invincibility seems to last. Jesus christ. @9min38 2things here: First He baited backdash with hariken and actually confirmed into a decent combo that lead to another hariken oki. Decent damage, but great use of the drill and conversion Second and most important one IMO Ragna then DPs the hariken oki. You can see that the attack actually hit the drill. So from this, we can assume that you can hit Amane's ground drill to nullify it???? He also rapids the DP and essentially escapes the whole OKI for 50 meter. I'm certain it could be baited, but it does look reliable when used up close. Also, since I assume you can't rapid on whiff (correct me peeps here if I'm mistaken) the drill does have a hurtbox that counts as if you'd hit a character with an attack.
  18. Forgot one last thing, Huge shoutouts to those who play Dota 2 amongst you guys. That 15-20 minutes discussion I had with one of the players I don't recall the name of was really chill. If you wanna play some games together, hit me up in PM because I am down to play with any of you.
  19. Let's do this, Shoutouts to: Everyone behind the organization of this event I've ran a few brackets here and there in MTL to help around and because I feel driven to help along in the community, but I cannot see how you pull off something this big without dying over stress. It's amazing and good job for holding it down. The few people I've actually played a bit of casuals with which would include the sleep deprived matches with ludwig van, a few set of casuals in our room with Dacid, the guys whose name I can't remember who showed up in room 920 friday and saturday, Troll badguy for his patience to play against a new player over good opponents in Guilty gear and most likely others whose names I don't remember because I suck at that To everyone involved in the process of having Dora, Souji and Kirisame come to this event no explaining yo, that shoutout so long it's self explanatory To the copabanana (Or w/e the fuck it is) event Not a better way to get this event started than with some of the most entertaining matches to spectate. ShinSyn and Aloci for being gay for amane, nice to put a face on guys I've been talking to for the last week on DL Sophisticat For being a true warrior when it comes to driving long distances. Holding it down on the way back whilst drinking the day before with only 5 hours of sleep AND STILL managing to look unaffected nor sleep deprived is impressive. That pool money match amongst venom players that never happened It was like the coolest idea possible. I don't even remember the name of the guy who proposed it to me after I got knocked out of GG. I'll still take you up to it if the circumstances ever makes it possible. To the waiters/waitresses at the restaurant sunday evening 30-40 customers coming in at once at 11 PM, good stuff All the players that voiced us your interest for MAD it means a lot. A whole lot. Just as about everybody I am truly grateful to have experienced my first US major with all of you. I was told I would come back with an surprising amount of skill increase by some of the MTL guys, but I left with much more than that. I am hungry to learn more, to improve, to meet and get know new players and most importantly to comeback for more. Fuck, you guys even got me hyped to buy BBCSEX now instead of waiting for BBCP. I feel compelled to actually do that with my community while nearly 1-2 weeks ago that idea was still something I wouldn't consider seriously. Thank you so much and I hope I get to see any of you as soon as life allows so again. Correct and that was me I believe that was circuitous after Kaeru told him I wanted to sleep. Or could be stickbug taking it further and pushing everyone out after circ first said it. ANYWAY, I actually felt bad at first with the idea at first just so people could get the most out of their last day. My body could, but was forcing itself to stay awake as in... my eyelids were starting to act out of my control. My endurance at 5AM was drained and so is atm. going to sleep.
  20. Not sure it answers it properly, but I was strongly under the impression you could from this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=F69xtXVDAwc Then again it does depends at what time you would consider the hop to be finished.
  21. Haha, this indeed blew a bit out of proportion, but nothing wrong with that is it?
  22. The attitude is an effect of a problem, it's hard to work towards a solution when you don't know what caused the effect :S. If that's the main idea to work on, you'd only come up with something vague such as "Don't get pissed"
  23. Here's one for you, I kept seeing shadow doing this : j.5C > Forward fabhop > j.2B (Far away from opponent) > Land > 3C I wonder how good/fast this sequence comes out or if it's loose enough to only have come out when they're expecting to block the j.5B after the fabhop. Of course that's if you condition them to do so. I'm assuming j.5C > Fabhop > j.5B is actually a frame trap that's just tight enough to make the opponent scared of using something like a DP. I was just wondering how much you'd get from that high/low pressure after j.5C. Success? Decent damage? Decent pushback for corner carry?
  24. I don't think you guys could have said it better. If we collaborate to find a solution like this over the idea of imposing rules or switching things around, there's an authority imposing itself onto others. I'm not saying that the authority shouldn't but if we can find a solution before that happens, nobody will ever worry about going the ways they were going and it will still remain most likely the environment everyone enjoys ATM. That said, gameplay thread worked for other boards and solves the issue quite perfectly IMO. If you want the raw input on the character, you don't need to go through the steps of navigating this 50+ page thread and we get to be as friendly and motivated towards each other as always.
