This at least explains why sometimes people YRC through Hammerfall and they don't even have to block it.

There is very little reason not to just pot buster half the time in this matchup it seems. Getting hit? Pot Buster. Blocking? Pot Buster? yeah. Getting bitten? People love to do bite, teleport behind and bite, so do pot buster but reverse motion! It is my favorite. Some more serious things: You can deal with BDC if your'e close up by doing crossup j.H, even if they BDC you'll still be on them in a strong position to catch them based on what they did, or at least to not let them escape. The Under Pressure (Overhead) mixup has a couple possibilities: IB Under Pressure, and if "It's Late (Follow up)" comes in, IB that and it's a free Pot Buster. IB Under Pressure, Pot Buster to beat the low Slidehead at round start is actually really solid in this matchup, if they dandy step they get knocked down and are almost in the corner already. There's a lot of cheeky Slayers on netplay who like to do stuff like Footloose journey to get in, Pot buster the landing recovery or if you really feel on point, 2H them for their troubles. Punish slides when you can, don't try too hard to punish if someone is on point with their meaty 2D, but if it's not hitting you on the last frame of the 2D you can probably IB Pot Buster. Basically Slayer's normal gimmicks don't work on Potemkin, if you think you have 3 frames to work with, Pot buster. Especially if you are good at using the Pot Buster motion to IB, this matchup is terribbbbllleeee for Slayer.

A heads up, 6P will CH and beat out 5K at round start, so if someone is abusing that there is your answer. Also you should be able to beat f.S Revere (Fishing Pool) distance depending. A lot of Fausts try it from about mid range, just the furthest range I believe it can still hit you. Played this matchup about 5 hours yesterday with an alright Faust, most of what Dot Nova said covers it. I feel like I should have more advice for this matchup, 5H is still great as always, you can't ever punish take my love, even if you are right next to him when he throws it zzzzz.

There's a pretty tight spot where you can actually contest Beak Driver with 5H I've found some mild success in. But my spacing isn't good enough to fully take advantage of it. But yeah right outside the range of Beak Driver you can 5H to either stuff it or at least put yourself in a position where you can make him guess "Jump or is he going to walk forward" Get your Anti-Airs in order for this matchup too, I don't think Sin should really go in much in this matchup, but I have yet to see a Sin fully play it lame so you gotta take advantage of when he comes in! This matchup has helped me remember that sometimes, jumping in and FDing is good enough to get you where you want to be.

Yeah I know Potemkin has a lot of bad matchups, but this one is currently really really the struggle. Not sure what you can actually do to get in since there's so much pushback on his stuff. There is almost no reason Sin should ever go in on this matchup. Even watching the Gaku vs FAB one, I know FAB won but he had no business going in. Gaku just decided to get greedy when he should have just kept Potemkin out. I'm pretty stuck on this matchup right now. Think you just have to get your spacing perfectly for Beak Driver and learn to bait it out in order to slowly push your opponent in the corner and then run your game.

So flicking Elphelt's grenade when she throws it seems mostly worthless, wondering if you can flick the explosion though like the bombs and ignore it? I notice now there is a post with the FDB list so I'm assuming that is in fact the case. That should help a bit against her It think? Has been the most frustrating matchup this far, it at least made me appreciate and understand the Faust matchup more. I haven't gone into the lab to look at learning ways out of the unblockable setups yet but I swear I heavenly bustered out once. Though that may have been a mistake on their part? I might have the replay. Wondering if reversal flick works now that I saw that list...

Major problem with the 236A/B>6C stuff is how often you end up pushing people out of the corner. I keep doing that and it's so dumb. Her corner pressure is pretty good at least no worse than most of the casts with the fireballs.
-
Not sure what you mean by 236X6B doesn't have the same tell as assault does. Since it's even more obvious and people will eventually just DP you every time you slide at them since there's no reason not to.
-
Yeah but that's the mixup, if they shield but you empty jump throw they can't do anything about it. Since that's pretty much how the TRM works right? I need to mess with the timing and see if I can get some DP safe setups too. Obviously you can't if they shield but otherwise... I wanna get something set up for testing to be able to record it. For Gordeau I figure the gameplan is pretty much rush him down and don't give him a chance to get out since he has nothing without meter.
-
Very Nice, I had not been using j.236A to catch them on the backdash wakeup. Is that punishable if they tech in the spot though with a delay tech or something? Also I definitely agree that her OKI is really strong, there's very little room to disrespect her on wakeup.
-
So here is where I'm at with this character. If someone gets on you it's pretty hard to get them off since her DP has such short range it's really easy to stand outside of it and just put in good meaties. Her corner pressure off a knock down seems really good. I've been doing knockdown -> j236B and then TK j236A as a frametrap since it's so +. It's also caused some TRMs on people but I"m not entirely sure why? I don't know if they're trying to shield the second fireball or what. But yeah throw out the A fire ball and go into triple overhead or fake overhead into low, whatever. Seems pretty strong and resets back into itself. Spending some time learning to Whiff punish, particularly people like Gordeau Landing a CH off of a whiffed 5C and comboing it into 236C + follow up is probably where I'm going to try and play a lot of that matchup if hes' not dumb and spamming grim reaper. It's far enough back range wise that you can also jump back and fire ball if you need. The hard part is not ending up in the corner where I have no room to work with. Definitely having some trouble with that. Same with Wald, think a lot of it is going to come down to can you play footsies with this character because her range isn't good enough to shut someone down like Gordeau. But once you're on top of him! It's pretty great.
-
Also remember that TKed A projectile is like +15 on block or 18 I think it was? I've been messing in the corner with j.236B Oki + TKed 236A as a frame trap and also because why not.
-
Also the fact you lose GRD for doing the B+C jump makes me avoid combo routes that include it http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm24088978 has some decent routes though some of the starters (Notably the last one which is a raw 236A 6A counter hit) seem less like to be something you'd connect. Also I always save 100 meter for Gord's in case they try to Grim Repah from a safe distance since 236C will punish it and get you on them even if blocked at max range.
-
Well you don't need a fast fall to do a high low mixup. be in the air, B, B+C, B or B, Land 2B or Land throw, or empty jump throw. Just basic mixups. She doesn't particularly have her own strong unique mixups, just fundamental mixups. She'd be really strong if this game had crossups but alas that is not this game.
-
So trying to find a use for it, but like for Nanase's 236A/B if you use 6B and 6C at the same time, on whiff you'll 6C away, on Block you'll do the overhead. Trying to find more OSes like this with her.
-
Oh no it's not a proration sorry I mean 236A/B -> 6C sometimes it just doesn't come out? I"m assuming I'm pressing it too early or too late sometimes. Also I use j.C while falling not for it's hit box but because It delays your fall and puts you in the air to overhead. So instead of landing when people will start to block low, you do an overhead.
-
So looks like j.B's proration on a crouching opponent at least is the same as 5B. Which means the 3.2k character specific combo? Works off of assault -> B+C mixup of which side will you hit/land. I'm also looking into making use of 214C in the corner since it's +3 so you're pretty advantageous to continue your pressure. Unfortunately not that useful mid screen since you go flying so far away. Panda King's video has helped immensely, tough stuff is probably getting the float timing right. Though I do have a problem sometimes I"m not getting the C follow up to 236A/B? Also I'm curious for your opinions but I've been using j.[C] While falling so that I can either do it just before I land for the overhead, or land and do a low etc.

So I'll be in Japan from the 24th - 7th of April just in time for this patch. Can't promise much but if you guys have anything you want me to try while I"m over there in specific I'll see if I can. Otherwise I'm sure we'll see a lot of the videos from the Japanese players over there too.

[CP] Taokaka Combo Thread - Now with 33% less loops!
Miracleknight replied to XDest's topic in Taokaka
Ah ok, that's actually why I asked I figured someone could give a reason. I didn't realize 5B -> 2C is a frame trap. Good to know. And yeah that makes sense, you can just pick up 2C combos from where they are in most other combos. This character is a lot of fun, glad I'm finally taking time to sit down with her. -

How out of date is the first page? Working on those combos on that page, but when it says CH is there a reason for things like 2C it only shows Counter hit combos? -
