Well, to argue the analogy, imagine we're standing on opposite sides of the grand canyon and you bellow "FUCK YOU YOU LAGGY SCRUB" as fast you as can. I'll eventually hear the words just as fast as you yelled them (your UL speed and my DL speed are fast enough), but I'll hear it like 5 seconds later (our latency is too high). Although knowing you it'd probably be more like "STAY MAD"

Best analogy: DL/UL Speeds: How fast you can talk to me. Ping: How far apart we are standing, and how quickly I can hear and understand what you're saying. Packet Loss: You talking to me on a walkie talkie that keeps cutting out and I have to ask you to repeat yourself, this is the most crippling thing of all in online games. They're both important, but ping is definitely more important. Games in general require very little actual bandwidth, but they need super fast communication (people hogging your bandwidth slow you down because there's no "room" for your requests left, we're talking milliseconds here). A strong DL/UL speed is necessary to facilitate a good ping, but ping eventually will decide your online fate.

Ping being the vastly most important factor, but speed matters too. Let's hope that internet upgrade of yours means your getting upgraded to DOCSIS 3.0. It made a big diff to my connection (I upgraded after moving out into my apartment)

Ouch, hopefully your internet upgrade will help that UL speed. I know that upgrading to DOCSIS 3.0 will help with UL speeds, because it bonds multiple UL channels (DL channels too, but DL is usually less important for gaming)

I've saved tons of replays but I rarely ever upload them...I just watch them and think they aren't worth watching. Either it's just a lot of "luck" on both sides, or it's one person continuously getting stomped, neither of which looks fun to watch to me. I've filled up my replay slots on all three games.

You should try pingtest.net and speedtest.net, and see what you get. For comparison, I get around 35 MBPS DL and 6-8 MBPS UL. Pings around 30ms for stuff near me, 60-80ms for stuff on the opposite side of the country. EDIT: ggs gold, although when I fight you I feel like my char's got bricks tied to his feet xD Why do randoms insist on plugging in mics just to start bitching.

I just had a match full of nothing but tedious BS with a random scrub Rachel. Ended up just taunt-suiciding into her wind DD. It wasn't one specific thing, it was just one ridiculous thing after another happening to ensure that nothing I did ever worked correctly. In my defense, neither of us had visible HP at the end of the match, but I'd just had enough.

Meh that match just put me in a really bad mood. I already turned the 360 off. I'm trying to think of a good single player game to play. I've done nothing but MP this entire week.
