[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
InWithTheAshes replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
Personally, the guard bar always struck me as having two purposes: One to either reward you for pressuring well, and the other to punish your opponent, if your pressure wasn't particularly effective, for not escaping it sooner. I form this reasoning because, basically, there are almost no pressure sequences within the game which are both completely gapless and raise the bar towards a large amount, and I don't think any that raise it towards flashing levels without there already being some amount gathered. If you gain some powerful increase on your damage due towards it, you were either very effective at keeping your opponent defensive, or they were very shoddy at preventing you from doing so. -
I'm still here you know. ~

There's really little information to actually decide upon such a thing yet, but, considering that Ishiwatari is indeed doing the directing this time, I have confidence that Xrd will turn out more enjoyable than CP, and both will probably be pretty cool.

Well, if the practice doesn't work out, I do intend to go for four days, so I'll be there for Tuesday as well (Monday would be arriving, and Thursday the return). What's the Guilty traffic like for then?

Oh hey, a new person! A new person that plays Guilty! Hi. Oh, and speaking of London, I MIGHT be able to go there next Wednesday for the HOG (that's when it is, right?) to play Guilty/Blaz/Persona with some people. My college band and I are currently trying to get a practice room for Wednesday, so if that happens, I won't be going then. Still, I may just go later during the half term and visit the place to still play some things. So that might be happening.

Alternatively: Rather than just remove FRC's/FB's entirely, or somehow make them less useful, they could simply increase the effectiveness or replace a lot of supers, as to make the mechanic actually worth spending on (Dragon Install and Executor X are fine candidates for this). -
"Clean hit" is a mechanic that's (I think) unique to Sol. It affects some of his specials, although the only ones that are ever commonly used are GV and SW. Basically, by hitting the opponent upon a certain point on their hitbox (specifically, the ones seen here), said specials gain new hit affects (SW wall bounces, GV has a much higher, comboable launch, ect.) and do more damage, with an additional damage multiplier that increases with each clean hit done within the current combo. If you're doing the GV right, there would be a HUD message saying "clean hit" and the opponent would go shooting off, allowing you to J.D them.
-
Okay so this just happened. Despite not having actually seen the conference, I lol'd.
-
SW is sidewinder. Pretty obvious from the above notation that says "CLSW = Clean hit sidewinder" Oh and BTW all of the sidewinders are clean hits.

Well that was a change of attitude. I was going to tell Monolith to say it wasn't "everyone's" beloved GG, but eh, whatever.

That might actually be what they're intending: Show one fight per trailer, with a portion at the end showing the combatants of the next one, and a quiet hint as towards it's date. -

It's actually Millia. Pretty much a rivalry thing. -
Yes, Nakamura IN. I might actually watch this now.

Admittedly, I've only experimented with Jam in training mode, but I'd still say that Dizzy is, within general, easier. Only thing that's really difficult for her is ice spike FRC. Bubble combo's are easy, they're just require conditions, and any other routes she has that doesn't involve said FRC are mostly really basic knockdown combo's.

Yup, they bought the rights back. It was relatively easy because Sammy wasn't really doing anything with them. -
I'd personally say you just pick the one you prefer and learn them. People take a lot more time to learn in GG than Blaz, so you may as well make a decision on a probable permanent main now and start learning them. However, purely within terms of execution: Dizzy is really easy aside from ice spike FRC. Jam's not as easy, but still pretty light. Venom can be a bitch. Testament depends on how easy your opponnent is to BLoop (Although that's apparrently gone in +R so eh. Obviously haven't tried doing anything within that yet).

GG was always anime. Oh, and something of note: It seems as if you can cancel specials into other specials. Multiple times, within fact. Probably costs meter or something. -

This. 3D, 2D, I don't care as long as it's just as deep, varied, and thoughtful within terms of the actual game as AC. -

We interrupt your hype with the announcement of another Russian spambot. Judging via the image this time, they seem to know the site a little bit more, but they're not quite there yet. -
Eh. Maybe they've just been saving up for this the whole time or something?
-
Oh come on, Arc sys has never taken out Characters before aside from removing Kliff after Missing Link (Which was pretty much a kusoge lol) and they put him back in +R anyway. Bridget's probably gonna be just fine.
-
That would be amazing. And I love how much the site traffic just shot up. We in there. Edit: Hah. My internet won't even access the front page. Glorious.
-
Because FUCK YOU HAHAHA YES. I don't even care if Dizzy is low tier again, I've played her as that before. Get. Hype.
