Dengeki FIGHTING CLIMAX: Announced at TGS.
InWithTheAshes replied to InWithTheAshes's topic in Misc Fighter Central
The official site has also been updated, this time including a blog. Obviously it's in Japanese however, so I don't have anything to take from it as of yet . -
Didn't receive it, probably just Skype (or me) being dumb . Could you try again?

Presenting: This week's gallery! There honestly isn't much here compared to what we've seen beforehand (THEY DIDN'T MANAGE TO COMPLETELY FUCK UP A FIGHT SCENE WHAT IS THIS)m but there's still a noticeable amount of strange faces, with the additions of fisheye Tsubaki and some... really strange shading on Litchi's back and Jin's coattails (with one of the former maybe containing the animator's simply deciding not to draw both said back and Arakune and just merging them together ) .

Oh wait it's a chest tier list. Aaaaaaah.

Things to know and learn in fighting games
InWithTheAshes replied to Vixsinationz's topic in Beginner Mode
It's where most of us lack, honestly . As well as what I stated before, there's also screen awareness (just being able to keep track of what's on screen), meter management (spending your meter efficiently, with regard towards potential future uses), hitconfirming (knowing when you've gained a hit and following into something to combo with before the enemy's hitstun runs out), reactions (exactly what it says, like switching to high block for an overhead before it hits), and prediction (being able to read your opponent well, although obviously not perfectly). That's pretty much it: Everything else (combos, tick throws, movement etc.) can be assigned towards one of the other categories of fundamentals. -
Things to know and learn in fighting games
InWithTheAshes replied to Vixsinationz's topic in Beginner Mode
Neutral is basically the game at the point where neither player has a distinct advantage within terms of position: Nobody's being hit or blocking anything, and both players are attempting, in some form, to get in on the other. Concerning fundamentals, they're usually referring to the skills that are required to play well and win in most fighting games on a competitive level. Spacing (knowing where your attacks are going to hit and if the opponent would be close enough to intercept it or not) mixup (not being predictable), execution (having the technical ability to perform the action you intend to do), things such as that. -
"S: Platinum... Amane". "E: Litchi". Wha. And where the fuck is most of the cast.

I'm saying that if the remaining animation was of very fine quality, I could find it understandable towards them slipping up disproportionately within a few segments. However, it isn't. At best, it's average within terms of detail, fluidity, and, I would say, direction. And concerning the backgrounds, that would be due towards the fact that CG, in general, takes less resources than hand - drawn animation. "Bad" is still an incorrect term, as always, but it's not subjective that animation is low - budget when this many things are notably out of proportion. and even if so many things would include mistakes, there are little times when you see such an amount of incorrect art within a series as this one.
-
Even if there are better shots, I wouldn't say any of the animation is of a high enough quality to compensate for the worse portions of it, especially seeing that a lot of the backgrounds are CG. Except that, while you could go through every single piece of animation created and point out errors, I doubt the majority of them would contain mistakes at such a concentration. It would be rare to find something such as Schroedinger's Telephone or tuning fork sword, anyway.

Three bars? More like FREE BARS. AM I RIGHT.

What's the worst fighting game you've played?
InWithTheAshes replied to Verimeloni's topic in Misc Fighter Central
What are you saying Mugen is amazing. Michael Jackson (Man In The) mirrors all day. -
Actually, I think Studio Hood (HOODS Entertainment) is responsible for this. Not KG (who I will admit I don't think I've ever heard of). Oh, believe me. It's real. I can send you the other galleries if you like~

I think I saw one in either Zepp or Guilty Gameplay at one point, but seeing as they don't seem to be near the front now, they're probably lost in the dark depths of the forum. There is T.V. Tropes' trivia page on the series... But it's T.V. Tropes ;_; (of course, if you're not like me and don't have a problem with T.V. Tropes, then that probably doesn't matter ).

[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
InWithTheAshes replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
Actually, I would say Guilty is pretty Anime. It's just simply that the designs have more influence from older Anime, as within, the 90s and early new millenium, in contrast with BBs more recent style. Sol would not be out of place in a seinen series from that period as a cocky, "badass" protagonist, and neither would Johnny. Justice looks sort of like an Eva (the small spike on it's lower body might actually be a reference to Evangelion's use of sexual symbolism, although I have really little idea as to what it symbolises if anything ). -
To be honest, therew's already comments indicating that within the Character summaries anyway, at least partly: Ragna, Makoto, Tsubaki, Jin, and Bullet all have their simplicity stated within their assessments, whereas Carl, Rachel, and Litchi have words concerning their apparent complexity. Considering that there aren't any words on other pages, somebody who has read the entirety of the Character descriptions could easily assume the wiki is claiming everybody else is only average within their technical requirements.
-
Why do I keep forgetting to post these. Anyway, gallery time people! Including Arakune's stair - beating levitation tricks, Kokonoe's highly advanced no - hole lollipop container technology, Makoto using her spare purple beret for a small amount of time, Valk's mustache, and Ragna demonstrating both his weaponry's size - changing abilities and his skill within forming strange facial expressions.

Dengeki FIGHTING CLIMAX: Announced at TGS.
InWithTheAshes replied to InWithTheAshes's topic in Misc Fighter Central
The guy running it just made a'>https://twitter.com/FIGHTING_CLIMAX]a group of tweets on the game's account detailing various statistics from the loketests. I'm guessing able people will translate it later if they want to, but for now, here would be what I can gleam from my Google Translate adventures. Character Usage (not sure if they actually based this on every use of each Character in the loketest, or just responses from people when inquired as to who they used the most): Shana: 13% . Asuna: 21% . Misaka: 19% . Shizuo: 17% . Kirino: 15% . Kuroyuki: 15%. Support Usage: Wilhelmina: 6% (really? I thought she was used more than that. Might be inaccuracy on GT's or the account's part. The percentages result in 100, though). Touma: 30% . Kuroneko: 25% . Leafia: 18% . Celty: 15% . Haruyuki: 6% . There's something about a review of the mechanics, but I'm not entirely sure what they were targeting, so I'm not going to say anything about that. Input difficulty reception: Too hard: 7%. Hard: 16%. Too easy: 32%. Easy: 43%. Regular: 2%. -
Biggest Guilty Gear servers?
InWithTheAshes replied to Klarerwind's topic in Guilty Gear Online Play
AC +, definitely. Although make sure it's bought from JP PSN, because lol no Western +R update ever. -
*opinion that the anime is bad. Even if I also don't care for the series in the slightest, considering that quality isn't objective I still wouldn't say it's a "fact" that it's shoddy. I'd also say that, while the dialogue in general is irritating and sometimes laughable, that particular line was probably more Crunchyroll's subber's fault than anything. Although, even if it is opinion, some cases as the one you replied to really do seem to be stretching interpretation of the Anime's events to their very limit in defense...

Disagreed. While I would say episode two was still the most amusing portion of the series (can not beat tuning fork sword), the general history of it I would not say is one of improvement. Episode three and episode seven were really the only episodes I would agree had any noticeable increase in quality rather than QUALITY, and that's only because their direct predecessors were so utterly glorious within their failure (specially so in episode seven's case, which would also be the most recent one. I mean, a portion of Relius' mask disappearing for no reason. When that is an improvement, it is a very depressing time indeed). I also wouldn't say it would be "a few" shoddy scenes. As well as my complaints about plot, scripting, etc., minor animation mistakes happen around about one - two times per minute and major ones occur about an average of six times per episode. I wouldn't say that would be "a few".
-
To be honest: I never really cared for BB's story elements even within their initial form. I found everything to be at least relatively shallow and extraordinarily typical. As within, it seemed as if it's elements were taken from some form of void containing the most primordial, undeveloped forms of Anime archetypes and thrown together. Of course, you could say "this is a shallow archetype" about a lot of things, but this is the first time I considered a story to be so in such a concentration: An acute sense of facelessness (GEDDIT!?). Therefore at this point I'm really not watching the show seriously. I thought the first episode was somewhat well done, despite the lack of actual explanation to people without prior knowledge and that amazing Jin GIF, but afterwards I basically just consider it as becoming worse and yet more worse with each episode. I'm really just viewing it to MST with the rest of EU Skype and laughing at shoddy or inconsistent animation, and similarly inconsistent minor plot holes.

[CP] Platinum the Trinity Combo Thread (Updated: 11/1)
InWithTheAshes replied to Moy_X7's topic in Platinum the Trinity
I think I've found what the optimal pan combo from N starters would be near the corner: (5B/2B) > 5C > 236B, 5C > 6A > 236AXXA, 5C > 6A > J.D., 6A > 6B, 5C > J.D, 3C. I've tested it on everybody aside from the console exclusives (because I don't own them yet). It has some exceptions. Noel doesn't allow for it at all (it missed on the 6B I think), and instead requires > Mami, 6A > J.D, 6A > 236AXXA, 5C > 6A > 6B, 5D, 3C (add a 5C before the first 6A from 5C starter). Also, for some reason, it doesn't work on Makoto or Izayoi from 2B (again, 6B misses), despite it being available from 5B, despite the fact that they share their starter rating and 2B having less (although only one frame less) hitstop, therefore 2B theoretically not prorating any more at all (I haven't tested 2B starter on every part of the cast, so there may be other instances). -
Well this was deliriously late (been too busy finally playing CP), but here's this week's gallery. Inclusions this time involve stylish Ragna, SUDDEN MASCULINITY, Relius' amazing disappearing mask, more slenderfaces, and of course EYES.

Dengeki FIGHTING CLIMAX: Announced at TGS.
InWithTheAshes replied to InWithTheAshes's topic in Misc Fighter Central
French bread probably do have license for all of them: The game has essentially been commisioned by Dengeki, so I would think they'd be legally free to include any of them (although there are probably executive pressures dissuading them from including less popular/otherwise significant titles).
