  1. Hi shinblade! Mac told me you the only decent Sol reppin' at SE-R. Sad I couldn't make it. should go to Season's Beatings 2 for real. And that goes for anybody else. :D
  2. I thought he was really amazing early in the year when I saw his vids on Gamechariot. He had a good grasp of tons of sidewinder setups before most people. His pressure game was ok but he seemed to be more about the combos. Anyway, where has that guy gone??? Only ever saw him on those game chariot matches then he seemed to disappear. And yeah the 30 matches vs. 1 person is kind of excessive but I watched them all and they were fun. ^.^;
  3. Haha, I think I see what you're getting at Clayton. I didn't mean any disrespect and yeah the 5HS stuff isn't new. I've always taken your ideas seriously I just don't understand them at first some times. I was also gonna say something about BR frc, because it CAN be pretty clutch some times towards the end of the round and has strange oki potential. Anyways, I think I offended when I didn't mean to and I see what you're saying about originality vs following what you see. Only thing I don't really understand is the "insta kill" term. I mean 80% dmg on Dizzy tensionless is pretty "killer" to me and I guess it could "kill" if the guard bar was a bit higher. The reference to the Japanese players does sound a bit braggy in retrospect but that's not really what I was trying to get at. I was trying to say that people worship these players as gods when really just being creative and messing around with seemingly stupid stuff can lead to understanding stuff they don't even know. Again, I didn't mean any disrespect or to ignore what you've said earlier. I was just posting as you said were my "thoughts on the game." I've always considered you to be one of the only people posting original ideas on the Sol forums. Hope that clears things up a bit.
  4. On a more related note: In recent vids it seems the top Japanese Sol's are discovering the power of the 5HS. I've been working with it for a while and it's and damn good attack. A CH 5HS can lead to a tensionless 50% dmg combo on just about every character. I guess it's just strange when I see something that I figured out myself popping up in vids instead of just trying to imitate them. ^_^; For those unknowing of the combo: CH 5HS > IADC j.s, j.d CLSW > land 2HS (optional) > j.s CLSW > j.s CLSW > knockdown of your choice or another j.s CLSW. I say the 2HS is optional because of character specifics and placement on the screen. For me sometimes it's hard to 2HS when near the corer because your character can get turned around and I think its just easier to j.s CLSW in the corner. Also something funny I was working on in training and P.C does it once in one of his recent vids. I was first inspired by Order Sol's combo after his FB when the opponent isn't in the corner and you're kind of far away. You can see Kaqn do this quite often: FB Fafnir > 2S , 5HS > IADC j.p j.k/j.HS 623HS. Now I thought, well 2S is pretty much identical to HOS and 5HS has pretty similar hit frames and is jump cancelable so why not apply this to Sol? After a Bandit Bringer mid screen they slide > 66 2S , 5HS > IADC j.p j.s/j.d CLSW / VV for knockdown. So far I've only gotten this to work on a few characters but it looks flashy as hell and for me that's what Sol is all about. Note: P.C does it on Potemkin who has a large hitbox so I'm pretty sure anybody with a wide hitbox in the air it should work on. Well that was my attempt at getting my most recent thoughts out there. Sorry if it was confusing as I was just typing as I thought of it.
  5. Well personally, I don't see the Sol forums as being that serious. I don't exactly keep my personal Sol Badguy diary open to the public. As a competitive Sol player it's hard to weed through all the newbs wanting to grand viper and clean hit and get to deeper discussion. Coming from you Clayton, who I see as one of the more cryptic posters in these threads, I don't really know what you want from us. You talk of "isntant kill" combos and the like as if there were some "omega seekrit" that we are missing. No offense, I've always been a fan of your work and combos, and Kenji tells me you do some pretty amazing stuff in matches. Maybe I just don't understand the way you type your ideas out. That having been said maybe we should make a separate thread for serious competitive discussion?
  6. P.C is old school, but he doesn't seem as sharp as Isa nowadays. Watch Kusoro's matches, hes not as competitive but his combos are great. http://www.rakunin.com/kusagati.html
  7. Wow, I really wanted this song for a long time but it was from a CM from #R that I lost long ago so I had no idea what it was. Was one of my favorites. WIN!
  8. I had this problem on an old pad I had where the O button was kind of soft, you just have to make sure you tap the button quickly and not hold it down.
  9. GF FRC is his only practical one, and it's by far his best and most important to be able to pull off consistently. From XX > #R they delayed the timing a bit so there's a VERY slight pause between the p and frc. It's really something you just have to learn to do. I've heard different ways to "time" it like hit p twice then the FRC but I just had to find what works for me. :D GF FRC's lead to big damage combos so I wouldn't worry about BB, RS, and ABR that much as they are gimmicky and highly situational.
