[CP] Azrael - Gameplay Discussion (Pre-Console Release)
AMB Bakery replied to zeth07's topic in Archive
Hardest (though not necessarily worst) match-ups are probably Litchi, Hazama, Mu, Amane, and Hakumen. On Mu and Amane, it's just bad when you're not in their face. Easiest match-ups are probably Noel, Makoto, Rachel, and Carl. I only say Carl not because the match-up is wildly in Azrael's favor, but because a) every button you press with Azrael actively destroys nee-san (doll) and b) Carl has low life, which means you only need to touch Carl 2 or 3 times before he's dead. As for Bang, I don't know. In general, though, I'd say it's characters with better normals or spacing tools (or ones that just mess with his game-plan) that he tends to have trouble with. Rush-down characters or ones that rely on projectiles (for oki or otherwise) tend to be better for him. Highest combo potential in the game probably goes to Tao or OD Jin, imo. -

Forward throw combo can get you 2 weakpoints without meter: -Forward Throw > 6A > low AD j.C > 214D, link 5A > TC > 236D (from the combo thread) If your concern is using rapid, you can also do crush trigger after taking a weakpoint with 6D or 3D (or even 5D on an aerial opponent) and apply 2 weakpoints after that (example) Also, to explain valiant charger further, if the move connects while an upper weakpoint is applied, it works kind of like C+D blowback attacks from Hokuto no Ken, in that you use it and then press forward to start the dash and have to (to my knowledge) press forward after each move you do (up to 6). Another interesting property of valiant charger is that most moves, excluding special moves and supers, cause the opponent to wall-stick. This is most like the "turn wall-stick on" option in GGAC's extras menu. Watch that time-stamp youtube link that LegendaryRath posted and you'll see what I'm talking about. EDIT: Now this is what I call nifty. I wonder if you can do the same thing with j.D http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=TCeISK9aixQ#t=642s -

@LegendaryRath: The thing is you don't necessarily 'use' fatal counters unless you know it's a guaranteed hit (i.e., if you block/force whiff on a dp), you hit-confirm off them. Of course, the combo probably would have been much the same without the buster > rapid sequence, provided he'd be close enough for 5C > 236D to connect. But even top players like Tahichi can't have crazy reactions all the time. I'd even dare to say that the 5C > buster part was auto-pilot and he just confirmed from there. There's also the factor of having a weakpoint applied beforehand, which unlocks more damage potential. Without weakpoints, your safest bet to get damage is going into rekkas. How you continue from there is up to you, though I imagine you might be able to pick up with IAD j.B/j.C or a forward dash into some normal (5B > 6A possible?). I'm surprised this hasn't been already covered by tutorial videos, but we'll probably get an FC combo tutorial in due time. -

Too bad BHS doesn't wallstick unlike someone's super. He can stomp at the end of most combos, including most ones ending with rekkas. -

Jeff please teach me Elizabeth in Power Instinct 5. And Rei in HnK. EDIT: okay, youtube just taught me Rei, now I just need that Power Instinct knowledge. Possibly some Hikaru knowledge, if you can. -
It's things like CtrlAltWtf's explanation that prove my point exactly. Those are pretty much all things we knew or you could have derived knowledge from the wiki to learn. There's no need to "discuss" it if all you're discussing is just regurgitating information that's already there. The rest is just timing, spacing, and match-up specific. To be honest, I'd rather just discuss CP Hazama stuff here. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm kind of sick of playing EX Hazama. I guess we could also discuss stupid shit that makes Hazama more fun to play.

Yeah, honestly even without a command grab, he could just go into a regular throw or a fucking guardpoint overhead. Which, by the way, I think Valiant and Hornet should have feints if you decide to charge them. Kind of like Shen's heavy dash punch from KoF. It just kind of sucks that he has no choice but to commit if he does either of those moves. If I were to give one change to Azrael, it would be that or BDC. In other non-wishful thinking news, are we 100% sure that Scud has absolutely no invuln? It seems that the super-flash has some kind of invuln, because Azrael's own 5D passed straight through it. Either it has some kind of invuln (formal or otherwise) somewhere or it has a REALLY weird hitbox.
