Not really a Potempkin/GG player, but don't you have a full screen unblockable that lets you approach if it hits? Isn't there also a move that lunges most of the screen and has 1 hit of armor , that lets you threaten command throw afterwards?

Hmmm I've been using something good lately. You guys probably already know about it, but here goes. After a midscreen Infinite Rush ender you can use Asteroid Vision to catch people's rolls as well as put them under pressure if they emergency tech. 214A~A > 5B will catch forward rolls with your best starter and frametrap those who try to emergency tech and mash. 214B > j.C will catch backwards rolls (can be followed up with 5B > 6A > 2D etc) and if they emergency tech, the j.C will hit them high, setting up for mixup later with 214A~A > 2B/Throw. I normally only use this when I get a max range 5B > 5D lvl2. The only bad thing about this setup is that you still have to guess how they are going to roll as each Asteroid Vision followup only covers two options. Also it loses to DPs. Now I haven't tested this on the entire cast, so if some people have longer rolls or smaller hitboxes while rolling, then there's a chance that these might whiff on them. -
Iron Labs's Facebook page says it's permanently closed and hasn't make a Facebook/Twitter post in 2 years. I don't know where they are now, but if you can find out I'd be willing to go. One of the CM games is next to the NorthGate Mall (252 Northgate Mall Dr Chattanooga, TN 37415) and the other is close to Gunbarrel road (7401 E Brainerd Rd #120, Chattanooga, TN 37421). The one at NorthGate is bigger and would have more room for us to potentially play. I'll go talk to them tomorrow to see if they would be open to us playing there. Any other ideas?

If I didn't like a game that all of my friends did I would: A.) Pick the cheapest EZ mode top tier character I could and spam a braindead flowchart game plan just to make people mad. Oh and try to get under their skin as much as possible if I actually win. or B.) Pick a silly character with silly moves and joke around while playing. Try to make as many people laugh as possible.

[CF] Nine the Phantom General Discussion Thread
Dark Ranger88 replied to Monarch's topic in Nine the Phantom
So, if Nine has no normal overheads...then shouldn't her spell circle betray her mixup? Like if you see that a Nine has ended a combo with "rock" at the ready, what's to stop you from staring down the spell circle and reacting to that. If the rock spell disappears from the spell circle, then you know the overhead is coming the instant she uses it. Until then, block low. I'm specifically talking about this Na guy who was bodying everyone with rock lol. Then all she has is God Hand for mixup, but you need meter to combo after that iirc. -
Awesome. I think I know a couple of places we might be able to meet and play in public (the 2 CM Games locations do fighting game tournaments every weekend, so they might let us setup there. And who knows...other people might see us playing and want to learn. However if you have any other places in mind I'm all ears). Unless you'd want to try coming to my apartment. I play on a 32" CRT set, so if you want a beautiful HD fighting experience that's not the place lol. (But we CAN tag team online randos there because I have pretty decent internet, but not fiber optics sadly...) And if we're going to play someplace that's not my apartment, we'd need a gaming tv/monitor that's easy to move. I also have a 32" flatscreen LCD TV, but there might be a sliiiiight delay on it (nothing major just a couple of frames I think). If you have something you feel comfortable with, we can use that instead. What do you think? Public place or my apartment?

Nice. Whereabouts do you live? I live right next to Hamilton Place Mall. I play Makoto and Elphelt (although my GG is very rusty/bad). And I plan on trying out Jam when Relevator hits.

What are the most annoying playstyles?
Dark Ranger88 replied to ViolaSorel's topic in BlazBlue Gameplay
1.) Throw D nails 2.) Free approach 3.) Deep melee action And if you don't want to use nails then there's always: 1.) Guardpoint projectile 2.) Teleport behind opponent 3.) Deep melee them in the back of the head And don't forget the ol' "Alucard Special" 1.) 3C 2.) Slide under projectile 3.) Deep melee fatal frontflips for 4k -

Color 6 is looking real nice. I wonder if they intentionally went for the Bayonetta vibe by making her summon giant monster fists and feet to attack the opponent. -

For the element notation, we could use F (fire, obviously), W (wind), and H (water, H2O, hydro, etc.). That way, none of them would match the ABCD notation that BB uses. And I you want water to be W, then wind could be G (for gust/gale). But I agree with the other guy who said wait and see what the Japanese do. -
What are the most annoying playstyles?

People who are always in your head and know the exact time to press buttons. And people who are really good at blocking. And people who beat me everytime. That stuff tends to be pretty annoying. -

You talking about the size of the orb, right? Are you sure it doesn't get bigger If you let it sit out for a bit? But you're right, its speed and being able to tank other projectiles are the important parts. RIP Flint Shooter zoning. -

New Orb is going to wreck Jins that like to zone with Ice Blades. Those fools gave us EX Hadoken for some reason. I wonder how it does again Sonic Sabres, and Lobelias, and everything else. Having it beat Nu/Lambda Swords would be stupid -

What are we supposed to do for long range midscreen crouch confirms now? T.T Oh and you say Comet Cannon is faster now. Do we recover from setting it more quickly, or does the projectile just travel faster when shot? -
It's It's called 2a Henjin...only one frame slower and hits everything. What character has a 5 frame jab that doesn't whiff on stupid stuff ever now and then? Stupid mobile won't let me post below the quote...

You have to learn how to charge drive and be able to do it 3-6 times in each combo. Her neutral is bad compared to most of the cast. Other than that she's straightforward. Makoto's wiki entry may be of help to you.
-
I wonder why they didn't just give Bullet a standard running dash like Ragna's. It's not like anything in her offense or neutral is so drastically overpowered that they needed to give her a step-type run, like Hakumen for example. I mean her lvl 2 D moves were incredibly annoying in 1.0, but that was only after she had got heat-up state. I say this because a standard dash would help her chase down zoners and adjust spacing against gorillas.

Yes Celica does outpoke Makoto on the ground and in the air. You just have to play this matchup like you would play Ragna in neutral. My neutral isn't as solid as I would like it to be, so I can't give any definite tips, but I'll still try to give some advice. (If anyone has better advice please speak up lol. We don't want the one-eyed man to lead the blind.) Go into training mode with Celica and find out these 2 things: 1.) How far her microdash > 5B reaches. 2.) How far her IAD > j.C/j.B reaches. (Whichever one reaches farther lol) Once you know the ranges of these two actions you want to position yourself at the edge of their range or just outside of their range. (You want to bait your opponent into doing one of these actions.) Pay attention to your opponent...and once you see your opponent start to dash towards you or jump off of the ground...you should backdash. (You can also do this on pure prediction too). If they dash > 5B'd or IAD'd in, then your backdash should put you outside of their range. If you timed the backdash well then you should recover before your opponent and have a chance to punish with a dash > 5B of your own. And if they didn't run in or jumped into the air...then your backdash is still safe, and you can keep playing neutral. This strategy loses if your spacing isn't right (i.e. you are too close to them and your backdash gets caught by one of their moves). It also loses if your opponent predicts your backdash and over-pursues. For example: You see Celica start running and you backdash. However the Celica player knew you were going to do that, so she keeps running to catch up with your backdash THEN 5Bs. A simple counter to the over-pursuit strategy is to...instead of backdashing when you normally would, do dash > 2B instead. If they tried to over-pursue, then your dash > 2B will catch them while running. If they IAD'd then they will fly over you and you can either try to 5B them or simply jump away. But this is just one of the many strategies you can use in neutral, so someone else might have something better to use. =============================== But Celica should be easy to block unless you are going up against a really good person. So the matchup isn't as bad as Ragna or Mu. Once you block the drive overhead (the one where Minerva slams a giant rolling pin down on you) you can retaliate.

Want to see the site do well? The front page is an afterthought. There are more pressing community-based issues in my opinion. If you add more people and don't make their experiences with the game a living hell, the site (and game) will grow naturally. 1.) Tell new players about Dustloop. When you see or fight someone who is new at the game send them a message about dustloop.com, telling them that it's a place where you can learn how to play the game and find other players. Most people get lucky to find this site in the first place. If you google search "How to play Blazblue" or "Blazblue [insert character name]" Dustloop doesn't even show up in the first 5 results. Think about it...Have you ever actually told anyone that Dustloop exists? Sometimes just discovering this site and having a place to talk to other people who also enjoy the game will make someone stay active on this site for a long time. This is why you see new people coming in and being overly social/making jokes in the gameplay threads. They finally found a place to talk with people who are like them and they are understandably excited. Then they get badmouthed and infracted for not being familiar with the site QQ. 2.) Don't be a condescending, pompous, trolling, or styling asshole to new or much-less skilled players. I know that saying this isn't going to change some people, but this kind of behavior can make someone drop a game or stop going to a scene completely. The learning curve for the game is going to ward off some players naturally, but we don't want to discourage the ones who will actually stick with the game by being mean to them. Hell I'd just like to say don't play weak/new players at all unless they ask for it. Let them stick to fighting other beginners until they get familiar with the game. So basically what I said earlier: If you add more people and don't make their experiences with the game a living hell, the site (and game) will grow naturally. A bigger point would be adding more players to these games in general since Arc doesn't advertise in America really. But that's a much larger and more hit-and-miss task.

Yes oki is a coin flip a lot of the times when it comes to Reversals. When you feel like your opponent is not going to DP, you start pressure or try to mix them up. When you think your opponent is going to DP you act as if you are going to pressure them, then at the last second you start blocking or IAD backwards. If you don't act as if you're going to rush your opponent down, they probably won't DP. People usually only do a reversal when they see that you are running towards them or standing really close. So you do always want to pursue your opponent; it's just that sometimes you want to pursue and then block at the very last second. There are a few tricks you can do to help against DPs though... You can use point-blank 3C as a hard call-out to virtually any Reversal in the game (besides 720 lol). It goes under every DP and almost every Distortion and Astral. The moves will whiff, so they can't even Rapid Cancel if they have meter (which is really huge against Ragnas that like to DP > rapid as soon as they get 50 heat). There's also a ghetto safejump you can do. Jump+Barrier > falldown j.C. Run up in your opponent's face. As soon as they recover jump straight up and hold barrier. If they DP'd you will barrier block it in the air. If they didn't DP then you can fall down with j.C and do mixup. -------------------- And everyone's DP isn't really a problem though. Only Ragna, Kagura, Tsubaki, and Mu should be able to disrespect you constantly. Other people need heat/resources for good reversals or you can low profile/option select their DPs Jin's C-DP, Bullet, Platinum, and Litchi's (difficult) DPs all lose to the [1]A~B option select. (When they tech do a meaty 2A and quickly hit 2B. If they blocked your 2A, you will chain into 2B. If your 2A whiffs through their invulnerability frames then you start blocking in time to block the DP) Bang and Hakumen's reversals lose to meaty overheads and meaty throws. 2B beats Makoto's DP, Noel's 4D, and Carl's Vivace.
