yeah the new guard bar confuses me a bit. maybe not the guard bar itself but the moves that affect it and what a cranked guard gauge does to damage/scaling. i saw a venom charge up a stinger almost all the way and on block it hardly raised the bar at all . so maybe projectiles in general dont raise much bar? of course we know that little eddie doesnt anymore. that said i know that some of faust's items raise a ton of guard bar. he and slayer seem to be the characters who can consistently do that. how that affects their damage i have no clue. i have a lot of little gripes with Xrd but i do think that its a solid platform to build from. mostly i just wish that things were a bit clearer and better communicated ie: the guard bar/health bar. i also still get the feeling that the screen is a bit cramped but thats probably just me. -

i thought about this for a bit and came to the conclusion that while i think its really unlikely, it wouldn't hurt much and would just make make things a bit more interesting/raise the skill ceiling. i guess the risk would be that we'd get to a place where 25% meter options were almost always better than their 50% meter counterparts again but hellfire mode has allowed supers to actually deal considerable damage so maybe that kind of thing could be avoided. i like the new stuff too though. -

man you guys are right. pot isnt only lacking tools, he doesnt even get rewarded for making good reads... i'm watching these archives and FAB is sometimes making 4-5 great reads in a round and still losing. his damage is lackluster. on the topic of wakeup blitz shield: http://www.twitch.tv/joniosan/b/507350678 at 2:20 in this vid you can see FAB wakeup with bs AND get the reversal indicator which seems like pretty solid proof to me. -

does the screen seem kinda cramped to anyone else? maybe im just imagining things but im kinda used to seeing dudes airdashing backwards and picking their spots before engaging while it seems like in xrd people are constantly in each others faces for the entire match. the camera seems to be closer and the character models bigger which could possibly leave less room on the screen to play neutral. i know GG has crazy rushdown, mix ups and oki but i really love the neutral game and i hope that hasnt been sacrificed in some way. what do you guys think? -

that shit was ridiculous. kubo didn't let those faust players play their game at all. its becoming clear to me that if you let faust engage in the neutral game at all you are immediately at a disadvantage. he controls the screen completely in that situation and his damage off random confirms is pretty high. -

whatever. no throw techs in xrd doesnt sound like a big deal at all to me . GG doesn't really need that mechanic for the system to work and the existing throw tech system seems kinda superfluous. -

saw some millias using chroming rose (i think thats what it's called...) to extend combos in the corner. it was pretty cool. i really like the idea of that super and i wonder how it really works. anyone know? seems like it would be rad in neutral -

yeah, no question. the lifebars in Xrd are misleading. the first 50% or so melts away very quickly while the rest takes quite some time to get through. i think i saw a jp retweet that proposed that the lifebars contain 420 hp. he tested this by throwing 420 of chipp's shurikens at a character lol. -

i guess valentine if has her back to the corner AND the opponent doesnt have enough meter to FD very much of it, it would be a great way to get a shit load of chip damage. we seriously calling this character ram-chan? also i think the RC system changes benefit potemkin quite a bit. you all saw how scary something like hammerfall yrc could potentially be. the idea of yrc on dandy step or other movement options really gets me psyched too. so many possibilities with this new system. -

watching the mikado archives and man faust sure does look strong. great screen control of course. i mean it was day 1 so who knows but there were like 6 fausts ( i guess tanabata was playing faust too?) and they all did pretty well. -

yeah i personally think that even if Xrd is excellent people will be playing XX (or i guess specifically +R) for a long time to come. the reason for this and the reason you ought to play it is because its a good game.

regarding venoms close slash and blitz shield: its still the 3 hit move right? and i may be wrong but i was under the impression that you couldn't use blitz shield in red parry situations or out of blockstun or whatever. so i'd imagine if you wanted to blitz shield that move it would have to be on the initial hit. but maybe it would be possible to create enough time to blitz shield certain blockstrings/multi hit moves by IB'ing a preceding move or something. again i might be wrong but i think BS has 1f startup so it would be a very fast option. that would be kinda rad. -

this is a very good question. the chains seem more like limbs than actual projectiles so maybe you are on to something.
