  1. I have to agree, this is still looking like a total snoozefest aside from Shizuo. Sucks that it's probably the biggest thing holding back a console port of UNIB. A fighting game based solely off the Baccano universe would have been a better idea. There could be immortal absorption fatalities.
  2. The OG Xbox didn't remain a viable platform for niche games for as long as the PS2, either. I was bummed about it since the 360 is my primary console, but I understand why they dropped Microsoft. The 360 is incredibly irrelevant in Japan at the moment, and the PS3 has been around long enough that most gaijin players have bought one by now (myself included).
  3. The PC isn't a proper platform for fighting games because they need a closed system (i.e. consoles) to ensure framerate and input consistency between setups. End of story. Also, good luck convincing niche Japanese developers to invest their limited resources heavily into PCs when nearly their entire (Japanese) market is so fixated on consoles, and when the PC is so prone to piracy, which the Japanese are especially sensitive about for cultural reasons. Steam is barely a blip on the radar in Japan, and if it doesn't need a mouse and keyboard, it probably doesn't need to be on the PC.
  4. Never mind, that was over sooner than expected. I'm back.
  5. Sorry guys, something important came up and I'll have to drop out. You can remove me from the list.
  6. Any idea why we're getting so many players from Montreal? Is Gundam particularly popular there?
  7. The Japanese market is slow to adopt new hardware. The PS3 will still be very much active and viable in Japan in two years. Persona 5 has already been confirmed as a PS3 exclusive.
  8. I'm kind of worried that Tekken 7 and SCVI will be F2P-only, since Bamco seems to be making a lot of money off these experiments. Hopefully it would be like DOA5U, where there's a F2P version but not at the expense of a complete retail release, and both versions can play together.
  9. Sorry, but I think we should keep the tournament to NA just to be safe. Had some bad connections with Euro players, even from the East Coast. Edit: Never mind, it's fine if we need an extra player and he's the only option.
  10. That's pre-rendered. 2.5D means the game is actually rendering the models. Sadly, I think they're more interested in pimping Tony Taka's attractive human characters. I expect the game to ignore the entire series before Shining Tears.
  11. This is the outcome of all that whining about Arcsys games on Steam? Joke's on them. What will it take to get these people to finally realize that if you want to play non-doujin fighting games, you buy a console? This has been the rule since Street Fighter II and it will not change until consoles go away.
  12. You have to choose a single unit to use for the whole tournament.
  13. Oh my god, autotune screamo. Worst opening theme of the series by a mile. Video is pretty boring too.
  14. There is no physical copy of AC+R.
  15. Highly unlikely. NBG and Byking can crank out new unit after unit for EXVS because they only have a few moves each, many animations are shared, and the game's mechanics are relatively simple. Far more time and resources are required for Arc to design and tune a single GG character.
  16. Don't expect to do well but I'll give it a shot. PSN: imdrwilydesu Unit: Turn-A/Assault Burst From Massachusetts
  17. Is this 2.5D, or possibly pre-rendered 3D like the Koihime Musou fighter? Can't tell from the tiny video. Animations look very smooth. I'm going to be sad if Shining the Holy Ark doesn't get representation. Sega tried to stamp it out of existence on Youtube so people wouldn't confuse it with Shining Ark.
  18. You're right; looking at the stats I had forgotten how large it is. Would make a great boss at least.
  19. ASB's sales and player activity dropped off quickly after release, even more so than the usual Japanese console release that makes most of its money in the first few days. It definitely suffered from UNIB Syndrome, where a lot of players dumped it after finding that the initial version was really broken, and didn't return when the patches finally made it more legit (and reduced/removed the energy restriction). Of course there were also a lot of casuals who bought it solely for the license and characters, and had no intentions of returning it because they didn't really care about the other stuff. The game certainly wasn't a failure.
  20. It is for a lot of games, like RPGs, action-adventure and Western titles. Not so much for fighters, because it's preferable to play those in the arcades. A lot of Japanese players who buy console ports of fighters only use them for practice/story mode and rarely play online, since they'd rather go to the arcade for that. A major recent exception was JoJo ASB, which was never an arcade game and sold quite well on the strength of its license alone. At least at first; tons of people returned their copies after finding out about the energy system and poor balancing.
  21. I doubt it'll happen, but I hope we see the WaDom from Turn-A playable. It would be cool to have a suit without flight capabilities, but with more powerful weapons to make up for it. Poe Aijee would be the pilot. If they already made the Zeong playable, it's not too big.
  22. So am I the only person who feels like FB Missions are a huge step back from Trial Missions? There's far fewer of them (padded out with difficulty settings), there's no sense of progression or planning a route since you can access them all from the start, and you don't get all the awesome voice-acted quips from character portraits who wanted you to take on their missions. I also hate that skill points you earn with a suit are locked down to that suit. I haven't seen any missions that require you to use a particular suit or partner to fit the story context, either, which was a nice way to force people out of their comfort zone and get them to try new suits. Wish you could do something with all the figures you unlock besides play sound effects. A 3D model viewer would have been a cool feature. I guess they had to leave a reason for people to still want to buy EXVS Vanilla.
  23. Efreet's ABC attack is missing from the list. It's an all-or-nothing combo animation attack that initiates from a dashing melee. It's very fast and the animation doesn't last long, so you probably won't get shot out of it. I'm not sure if it affects EXAM or can be comboed into. This is the only 1000 suit I can sometimes kick butt with. EXAM is very useful for getting in, and once I have to start worrying about running out, I've probably blown up and respawned with a full meter. And I think this should be obvious, but Assault Burst is most definitely recommended for this suit.
  24. Can this thing even do melee combos more than two hits? I understand it's meant to be played at a distance, but the melee just seems so useless compared to almost every other suit.
  25. I think you confused it with Gundam Vs Extreme Full Boost, that has an online pass.
