  1. Late reply, but it might have something to do with the developers outright stating that he was deliberately made to be overpowered and they wouldn't be changing that. Of course, they furiously backpedaled on this for AE 2012.
  2. I'm expecting it to be a lot faster than Kensou choking on his meat bun, yeah. Maybe he'll become colloquially known as Order Ky.
  3. I'll probably main Sin, especially if it turns out he's the Order Sol replacement. I'm happy to support Overture getting some more representation anyway. Wonder if his eating animation will be a charge like with OS, or a one-tap thing.
  4. You can use PS4 sticks on PS3 as universally recognized gamepads (that means no home button), but not the other way around.
  5. I would bet you $20 that they tried to develop netcode but realized that they were too inexperienced to know how to make it work. The game already has excessive loading times and major bugs.
  6. Byakuya looks interesting to play as with his spiderweb traps, Nanase less so. They're both really dull character designs compared to most of the rest of the cast, and Byakuya looks too much like Chaos took his glasses off.
  7. Or it might not, because a lot of people have (foolishly) ditched their PS3 stuff for the PS4 now, and the Triple is getting barely any attention anymore. There's also going to be players who don't feel it's worth it to upgrade to Love Max, because there's no new characters/arcana and the game seems to have barely changed on the surface.
  8. Sorry, I don't have the right video capture equipment. I'm still trying to settle on a preferable character + arcana setup as well. So far I'm liking Kamui/Dark, Zenia/Fire and Eko/Plant.
  9. Don't suppose there's anyone else here who's just starting out with the series, or will they not show up until the US release? Getting totally slammed by everyone online, I need beginner/intermediate opponents.
  10. Since when has FK Digital ever mentioned working on another fighter? They seem to be content churning out handheld and mobile shovelware as of late.
  11. Throwing out that #Reload is available as an Xbox Original for 360 on the XBL Marketplace.
  12. I've long since given up hope. It's safe to say at this point that they weren't able to make it work and we won't be getting it. Would most likely be laggy as hell anyway.
  13. Let's not forget that Dimps (DBZ Budokai, Rumble Fish dev) was largely responsible for the framework and design of SFIV.
  14. The game will be widely played competitively, whether people like it or not. It won't pull Capcom attendances, and it won't help that Xrd will be absent from Microsoft consoles, but I think it will be more successful with the Western scene than any version of BB. Anyone else remember all the bitching and moaning from Third Strike diehards when SFIV was released? Most of it was justified, too, and I would say that SFIV pandered much more directly to casuals than Xrd. Didn't stop the game from becoming the central supporting pillar of the global FGC, which has continued to the present day.
  15. Akatsuki's parry is B+C just like in Blitzkampf, right?
  16. Did a Moby Games lookup on the staff members involved in search of links to Arcana Heart/Daemon Bride. I didn't find any, but some of their other credits were still of interest. Planning director Shinichi Itoh was a graphic artist on numerous Falcom RPGs, including Brandish 2, The Legend of Xanadu, and Trails in the Sky(!). Programmer Tomohisa Yamagata did coding for the cult classic PS1 shmup Harmful Park. Programmer Takeshi Nishino worked on the Atomiswave run-and-gun platformer Dolphin Blue, often compared to Metal Slug. Sub director Masaru Moriya drew background art for Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and was a lead design supporter for Jump Superstars. Special thanks credit Chikahito Ikami was a character designer/animator for Vanillaware's Princess Crown. Assuming it's not someone else with the same name, special thanks credit Nobuyuki Yamashita was the lead director of Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram(!). Even if they weren't involved, there's a decent chance that someone at SNK who went on to form Examu saw the game and was inspired by it.
  17. Folks, as much as you may not want to hear this, when you get down to it they really had no choice but to simplify the game from Accent Core. Xrd has probably been ArcSys' largest single investment in the company's history, and they need to make bank on it somehow. However true or untrue it may be, GG has built a reputation for itself within the broader gaming community as being a highly technical and unintuitive game that is overly inaccessible and unwelcoming to newcomers. That doesn't translate into strong sales or large tourney attendances. Replacing FRCs with the more forgiving and self-explanatory YRCs, as well as adding buffered inputs, Danger Time, and Hell Fire comeback ODs will all contribute to bringing in the SF/Marvel/MK droves that Xrd needs to cater to succeed. Like it or not, the long-term future of the game is bleak if they don't support it.
  18. All Arcana Heart fans will definitely want to check out my thread on Warlocks of the Fates.
  19. This canceled Neo-Geo fighter from 1995 by Astec21 has been known about for a very long time, and a nearly complete build of the game on a prototype cartridge has been confirmed to exist, but the dumped ROM has never been made publicly available. That fact has not yet changed, but what has changed is that we finally have the first video footage of the game. Intro: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm20396473 Gameplay (full arcade run): http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm22086702 How would I describe it? It's Arcana Heart eleven years before Arcana Heart. The similarities are so striking that I wouldn't be surprised to learn that some of Examu's staff played the game at a location test and were inspired by it. Huge stages with lots of vertical space, lots of large and powerful special moves, most (if not all) characters have strong air mobility options, and you even get a choice of different magic gems to equip your character with on the select screen. It looks quite a bit clunkier than Arcana Heart given its age, but still very fun and playable. I can see why it was canceled, though, as I don't think the world was ready for a fighter like this in 1995. Test audiences would have been utterly bewildered by it back when the original Street Fighter Alpha was new and cutting edge. Did I mention that the music is amazing? Not up to Last Blade standards, but one of the better OSTs on the Neo-Geo I've heard, and would probably be very danceable. I really hope we finally get to play it through emulation someday. It would also be a perfect candidate for a Neo-Geo Station release if SNKP ever wanted to revive that service - the canceled Neo MVS version of Ironclad was already released through Wii Virtual Console. I doubt the source code is in their possession anymore, though.
  20. MK9 was already insanely violent, far more so than any other game in the series.
  21. Looks like there's no combo damage scaling whatsoever, too. Great job, guys!
  22. Game seriously still has problems this bad after being patched how many times? I mean, the chances of you encountering it in an actual match are marginal, but just the fact that such a huge oversight exists at this point in the game's lifespan.
  23. First in-game footage from Sony's E3 conference. The new characters include a masked giant with a midget on his shoulders like that guy from Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome (could be some puppeteer shenanigans going on with them, but probably not), and a yellow zombie lady who controls insects. My interest is piqued. There will probably also be another exclusive Playstation character again. MK9 was mostly a nostalgia-fueled retread of the first four games, but this really feels like it's taking the series new places. They've brought over the contextual environment attacks from Injustice though, which I felt added nothing substantive to the game and only served to marginalize skill even further. But I'm sure you'll be able to disable them like in Injustice.
  24. Was there ever an explanation for why OMK X on the 360 was never brought up to date with Cross through DLC?
  25. The Hori PS4 stick is also compatible with PS3 (like most PC gamepads), but it doesn't have a toggle switch, so the PS button won't work on PS3. Actually, that 360 TE2 for Ultra doesn't support Xbox One. The One still needs a stick besides that MadCatz Killer Instinct model that was made in limited quantities (and apparently has pretty subpar build quality). Mortal Kombat X is coming to the system, so KI won't be its only fighter for long, and any next-gen Capcom or Namco fighter is all but guaranteed to get a One version.
