I hope this is where we post these kinds of threads, because I'm new to Dustloop too xD
Hey what's up guys. My username is RichyGaming and before I get started on the topic, I love fighting games. I have been specifically playing the BlazBlue series (Actually, the most fun game I ever played in my life) and some of Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus. So I suppose I consider myself a newbie since I played very minimal fighting games. I feel confident in my skills, so I stopped playing offline and started playing these few games on consoles to have online matches.
I consider myself okay since I get on peoples good side and get respect from my Bang. But now I figured I should try joining tournaments, people say it's a place to have a good time if you love fighting games. I want to meet new people who like playing what I play =D But the problem is, it sounds pretty intimidating. I'm COMPLETELY new to this kind of thing.
I can imagine myself walking in, but having no idea what i'm suppose to do when I get there (If I wasn't confused on how to sign up for the Tournament..). What happens next? Once it's my turn to start playing, when do I know I need to get out of the seat for the next player to go in? Are there any specific rules for tournaments in general? If I were to lose a game, I'll suck it up and say "Good match, bro" but what if something else happens, like random people getting on my case? I have seen some people arguing with Hosts and players after the match. My knowledge for tournaments on ANYTHING is 0%.
If there's anything I know, it's to play the game and don't be a douchebag, have fun. I also understand we're suppose to have a good time. But I do know that if I go to a tournament right now, i'll feel so lost. Also, this probably sounds very stupid. But since I play on a Playstation 3 (And vita), how am I suppose to know if a tournament says what system they're going to have the tournament on? Does it say so on the rules? I don't know if I'll be playing as good if it's on a console i'm not used to. So I'm hoping someone can fill me in on this stuff. Because when a certain game comes out early 2014, I definitely want to start joining tournaments.. please and thanks bros!
