The color of your square online has meaning?
Icekin replied to PozerWolf's topic in BlazBlue Online Play
And when you play someone roughly the same color who's genuinely not that good, he might think you're trolling on purpose with square colors to get easy wins off new players. The intention was good, but the idea of colored squares is just badly executed. -
Me neither. That should speed things up a lot.

Mes sympathies. -
That sounds an awful lot like how I played yesterday. I had just got done getting trolled by some guy and then stomped by an Azrael and the salt was flowing at a Dune-like pace.
-
I believe he said (or implied, rather) that he didn't want to pick her up because people are saying she's OP, as in he doesn't want to play an OP char.
-
Here's a fun one, someone in the room is way better than you, and possibly everyone else. After winning one match, guy switches to some char he doesn't play and toys with you, running gimmicks and nothing else, not giving a shit. I get it, you're good, I'm not. Please try your best so I can learn, and quit being a chode.

My own color square is starting to stress me out. I should not be yellow, I'm like dark green at best, I have no idea what I'm doing. How did I even get to this point oh god I need an adult help.

Embarrassingly, as a newer Platinum player, I identify with this post more than I would like to. After initially picking up Nu in CT, then Terumi in CP, was hoping to settle on someone people don't dislike fighting, but derp. Oh well, just gotta git gud instead. The thing though is when I play people my level, this sort of stuff does work. Platinum isn't that popular, so a lot of newer players don't know to be wary of pan/cat hammer/bat at all. And unless I bonk them in the face with it several times, they never will be. So why not do it until it stops working? Because once it does stop working I won't know what else to do, I suppose. But until you run into people who will put a stop to it, it sort of conditions you into thinking that's the way to go. Kind of like pushing D a lot with noel, or 360'ing at every opportunity with tager, or Terumi's love affair with 6C. I'm never sure if I should be doing things like that, because I think to myself "Ok, this totally would not work against someone good, but this guy is just asking for it, so what do I do? Play stupid and win, or pretend like he won't fall for it yet again, even though I know he will?"

Since it just happened and it's a really minor annoyance rather than a legit complaint, amazingly good players who've been at it for months but never bothered to touch Ranked, who then decide they're going to grind them points. Cue 40 effortless victories against new players. It's fine to do it, getting to that high level will mean another way to connect to good players waiting for matches, but being another stepping stone on their climb to the top is less than enjoyable. :<

If I don't do anything about it, by all means, keep doing unsafe stuff. But when I do put a stop to it, netplayers seldom learn. More wins for me, yeah, but I'd rather people adapt and make me have to as well than play "punish the mash" all night. Not a big deal either way.

One thing that's always bugged me is how people tend to focus so much on offense and combos, the rest of the game be damned. I'll be playing some Ragna player, and this guy will have all of his combos down to perfection, as well as pretty respectable pressure. Doesn't matter what hit lands, he will get full damage off it. But the rest of his play? Are you anywhere close to him? 5AAAAAA/2AAAAAA until something hits. Did you hit him? Instant burst + RTSD. Did you counter assault him? Instant air tech and j.AAAAAA. Are you close to him as he gets up? Inferno Divider! Did you bait and punish it once? Wakeup 5AAAAAAA. Are you actually not that close to him? HELL'S....*grab*/Inferno Divider. Good god, please stop. On a separate-ish note, players who do things that in theory shouldn't work, but do because either :netplay: or I'm just too terrible to punish, like attacking after blocking something way + on block (or after having something blocked that's way -), or wakeup mashing. I'm just exasperated, thinking "are they at least aware this is a stupid idea, or are they purposely doing it because they know/think I'm too bad to do anything about it?"

Edit: Actually nevermind. -
I've been wanting to pick up Platinum for a number of reason (sound effects, cool items, neat playstyle, aesthetics, hipster cred seldom played char, etc), but she has one big drawback for me: I usually loathe exec heavy characters, and platinum's combos seem to be on the long and hard side. I haven't played her enough to really make a call on that though. Is it not that bad, or am I going to be ripping my hair out every time I land a hit? I don't mind a bit of practice, and I can start with basic bnbs before learning all the various item variations, but I don't know if I'm in over my head.

I can't tell if you're talking about a player called WakeupDP or if you mean wakeup DPs. The only thing that gets the salt pouring for me is netplay delay or bad sportsmanship. Win or lose, I still have fun. -

5 wins 93 losses. The path to SCIENCE is a harsh one. ;w; Fun games. I'll look forward to next time. -
Are you me? This, pretty much.

Oh I'm fully expecting that. I don't get mad at games in general when I get destroyed, I just laugh it off. Not in a "Wow this is stupid" way, but more "Oop aww, I goofed. haha" I'll check out Sankishin. Looks like I might need to buy Kokonoe as well. -

Thanks a lot for the welcome. And wow, Heartless. According to that map, you live literally next door to me. I can see your building from my window. I'm at the 2480. :V -

Any particular preferable time? Sunday isn't a problem, but I work until 7:30 on wed/thursday, so I wouldn't be there until 8:00 or so. -

I know Blazblue isn't the most mainstream thing of the day, but after a harsh and exhausting google search of several seconds, I've come to the premature and probably wrongful assumption that occasional meetups at Foonzo is literally the entirety of Montreal and its surrounding's BB community. I'm not a good or experienced player in any way, but I'd like to do more than Netplay eventually. Should I just head on over sometime? Are there other places people meet up at? Anything on the south coast (Longueuil area)? I don't mind driving to Montreal if that's really my only option, though.
