[BB:TAG] News/Gameplay Discussion
Arcus Diabolus replied to NeoStrayCat's topic in BlazBlue Gameplay
From what it looks like, we won't be getting story mode portraits like we've been getting in BB up til now, which is fine I guess. Its not nearly as necessary as the dub, but it would help with context or comedic stuff. EDIT: Scratch that, in one of the screen shots, Ragna's expression is different. So the base character portraits are getting expression tweaks, at the very least. -

Thats a discussion for another topic, but one that needs to be addressed. DL's demise has been mostly due to the lack of freedom to post whatever whenever and just generally be anti fun. I get that it had its reasons, but it got out of hand and many mods jumped ship to Skype, Discord and whatever else, where communities are much more alive. -

Now CF dub when? I don't know how I feel about a confirmed dub for CTB. On one hand, I'm ecstatic that I'll be able to hear Patrick Seitz's Ragna again, but on the other, CF was where we really needed the dub for a variety of reasons. -

This is my general sentiment on the matter as well. I could rant for hours, but to put it simply, no dub for CF would have been alright if they decided to drop the dub earlier in CP or even CS. We wouldn't have been happy about it, but at least it wouldn't feel like we are getting the rug pulled out from under us as the climax of BB and the final chapter of Raggy's story was approaching. If they added a full dub to BBCTB without supplying a full dub to CF as a dlc patch, it'll make me feel like they intentionally dropped the dub from CF just to spite their western audience, as irrational as that may be. -
[BB:TAG] News/Gameplay Discussion
Arcus Diabolus replied to NeoStrayCat's topic in BlazBlue Gameplay
So basically my initial hope has been more or less confirmed. I still need to see those price tags though before I hop back on the hype train and try to convince anyone that we all jumped to conclusions. They could have avoided this entire fallout by simply giving us 25 characters, including the 4 RWBY characters and not mentioned the DLC characters in the first place. Telling us that there was going to be 20 at launch and another 20 in DLC was just bad marketing, and honestly I won't really feel bad for them if CTB doesn't sell well because of it. That was just a stupid, entirely not thought out move on their part. -

I refuse to pass judgement on this game until I see price tags. If the game releases at $40 and the total of dlc runs about $40, though ideally $20, I'd say that I'd be willing to drop $80 on another BB title, and I'm by no means made of money. In fact, I'd appreciate it if they released the game that way. That way, I could buy the game for cheap and be able to play with some of my favorite characters, and then be able to pick and choose who else I want as I get the money to do so. It would, to me, switch from the initially perceived greedy cash grab to a economically friendly fanservice title. I still feel as though Blake and Yang should have been included into the main cast, but hey. -
Well, most of it will come with experience. And there isn't much in the way "standard play" that encompasses all characters. Hakumen can tend to be defensive oriented and Noel offensive, but both can play offensive and defensive, respectively, depending on who is playing them and what character they are playing against. It tends to be best to develop your own style of play and get good at that, but most of all be flexible and adaptable. Watch some gameplay videos and watch how people play your character. Look at some frame data sheets and see what each move is good for. You might find something useful hiding right under your nose.

(Lore Question) Is Hakumen basically invincible
Arcus Diabolus replied to coreylee12's topic in Hakumen
It depends on what you mean by Hakumen. Hakumen in his prime during the dark war was (I think I remember this correctly) ten times as strong as he is after spending nearly 100 years in the boundary. Current Hakumen seems to be able to cut through the bulkhead doors of Sector Seven with relative ease. I don't think Hakumen has the same Power of Order that Jin does, tho. Although, this isn't much help, since I have no real clue what the extent of Jean Grey's power is, as I don't keep up with X-Men that much, only that I know who you are talking about. -
ArcSys Voice Acting [This thread has rules now]
Arcus Diabolus replied to SoWL's topic in Zepp Museum
Personally, I'd rather continue getting Blazblue content without a dub than just stop getting it altogether. Would I prefer a Dub? Hell yes, I went through hell to get my copy of BBCP signed by Cristina Vee and Patrick Seitz , but the lesser of two evils is to support them either way and continue getting what we love, even without my favorite voice actors. In fact, I would argue that diving right in and buying as many copies as possible to show support would be the better option in terms of getting a dub later, and most of all in terms of safety. Its just too risky to boycott a game that is already a niche pick. All they have to do is scrape any localization later and we're screwed. That said, I'm gonna go ahead with preordering BBCF. The limited edition, in fact, one part because I want to show as much support as possible and two parts because I REALLY WANT IT. -
I'll be really frank. I'm more than surprised that we are getting a LE considering we will have to fight for english dub. I just feel like we are so low on their totem pole that they are starting to short change us. That said, I'm glad. Despite the dub problem, which I will fight for irregardless, I'll pick this up for all the goodies.

ArcSys Voice Acting [This thread has rules now]
Arcus Diabolus replied to SoWL's topic in Zepp Museum
Good lord I only heard about this today and frankly I'm shocked. I was sitting here thinking the english voice actors have been working on this for months now only to get this horrible news dropped on me. At this point, I'd rather wait for the english dub and get it even next year, never mind in the next few months without it. Already signed petitions and shared the news and said petition to facebook. I really hope we get some serious steam here. It would have been one thing if they did this in chrono phantasma but its a complete low blow to do this on the climax, the final chapter if you will. Gotta work at it though. Nothing will get done if we do nothing but complain. -
What are the most annoying playstyles?
Arcus Diabolus replied to ViolaSorel's topic in BlazBlue Gameplay
I have to admit, this can get pretty annoying, at least if I'm telling my opponent (nicely, I might add) what he's doing wrong and he refuses to take my advice at all. In some cases, this also goes hand and hand with my post, in a sense. -
What are the most annoying playstyles?
Arcus Diabolus replied to ViolaSorel's topic in BlazBlue Gameplay
People who refuse to just slow down and learn to input commands correctly (looks at my oh so guilty friend). He will mash normals over and over trying to be stylish with distortion drives and specials, giving me full reign to take a step, land a CH 5C and then proceed to force him to lose half his HP in a single combo. During which, he'd be complaining lightheartedly how he was blocking or how the game didn't let his special go off and just proceeds to do it again. Granted, he's new and all, but its one of those things that makes me need to take a deep breath. -
Story, music, feel, characters, flow of the gameplay, the fact that I've poured this much time into it already and see no reason to stop now, etc. Take your pick. In a very short time I became a rather hardcore BB fanboy. I still play whatever fighting game happens to be around, like Tekken, Dead or Alive (I'm not proud of this one), Street Fighter and GG among others but I'd be completely satisfied with BB if it were the only option. (I think I'm beginning to annoy my friends though, because I'm always so eager to play BB and typically merciless when I play my mains against them.)

Pretty much this. The golden rule of fighting games (at a medium level) is "If it works, keep doing it until it doesn't" That said, the defender needs to learn to counter any strategy, and the attacker needs to understand that if a strategy stops working, you need to try something else. If neither can learn and change they way they play, they deserve the loss. One trick ponys don't get far in fighting games, at least not against competent opponents.

[CF] Noel Vermillion Loktest and Changes Discussion.
Arcus Diabolus replied to LunaKage's topic in Archive
Maybe its just me, but perhaps Noel's focus has changed from combos centered to a neutral / hit and run playstyle? I dont agree with it, but to me its worth noting, at least if we consider her combos aren't as great anymore, but she can get in for at least a little bit of damage with 6D like a monster now. (Also, the speed of the game as a whole is leaving me a little dizzy...) -

Thought as much... never been good at super jump canceling, but I guess I gotta learn sometime. -

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. Should I add a super jump cancel to that or is that not necessary in this version? -
[CPEX] Noel Vermillion Combo Thread. (Updated May 3rd 2015)
Arcus Diabolus replied to LunaKage's topic in Archive
Hey guys, I'm back! Anyway, I picked up the game recently but I'm having difficulty adjusting to Noel's new 5C > 214A > 5B > j.2C > j.4D route. Anyone got any tips on how to make executing that set of moves a bit easier to pull off? It seems like its much faster on top of being a bit more difficult, and I can't seem to get it right anymore. Thankfully, many of her combos still work, but I really want to get a CH 5C combo to work. -
This is quite helpful. Thank you.

I don't mean to be a dick, but while I get its a pain to look through threads, sometimes you should at least check the last few pages.
