  1. Sorry, I haven't been on DL very frequently, but you can join the ECDojo community in you're on PS4 as well. Can always look for me online too, ChfMojoRising. ^_^
  2. Thanks for that. It has me thinking about how to train and pressure differently. ^_^
  3. I haven't been on the forum in a while, but definitely need to share this article I saw on Twitter. Many of us, myself included, need to work on our blockstring tech, not just our combos. http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1snrjff
  4. Just read a well thought out article through twitlonger, (http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1snrjff) and realized I really should be working on good options when doing block strings. A lot of my regular opponents often jump back out for free on me. Anyone know what works well to variate Ky's pressure game, or make it more airtight?
  5. I also can't be certain, personally, that the Gunframe app data is up to date, but if so it just released on iOS, should that help as a reference.
  6. Sorry I haven't been on in a while. Combination of being sick, and other health related responsibilities. Keep on the look out for a Sunday room though. I also wanted to share this video, which is an extension on knowing the ranges of your normals. Knowing the ranges are a major part of fundamentals in any fighting game, and knowing how expand that into opportunities is the next step. http://youtu.be/hY-cMStAyuE
  7. Is Ky's frame data on the wiki up to date? There's a banner up top saying to update the frame data and then remove the banner, but I'm not sure what may be inaccurate in the actual frame tables. I refer to frame data a lot, so it'd be helpful to know if that banner shouldn't be there, the entire list shouldn't be used, or something in between.
  8. Mecha is right about cpu versus fighting real people. I like to think of the cup as a way of practicing combos while having to move around, and think about what the opponent will do. The AI is basically a bad player with occasional psychic abilities, so you definitely can't use it to learn much of anything. Win or lose, if you're hit confirming properly against the cpu, then you know you'll be able to do it in a real match. The hard part then is learning the neutral, so you can land what you practiced in the first place. The ranges and attacks a person will choose is going to be a lot better than the computer. Corner pressure can be really strong. There're usually gaps where you might jump or poke out, but choosing those are a gamble as well. FD can open up those moments, but knowing what to do with them requires character specific knowledge. Whoever gives you a hard time in the corner, start learning what their pressure entails and ways to handle it. Once you know, you'll still have practice it in a real match. Just stay patient, and focus until you start to the moments of opportunity. You'll lose a lot, even when you first start recognizing opportunity, but that's the nature of fighters. Keep grinding, and your personal skill will improve.
  9. Very fun random pick up game lol
  10. May doesn't really have a reversal move to get people off when pressured. I'd say that's a blessing and a curse. Having one tempts people into abuse, they get baited, and blown up. Not having one means being forced to deal with pressure in a smart way. Generally you'll want to block low, and react to any overheads. That can be hard at times though, so it's good to notice ranges too. When the aggressor gets pushed away, his lows likely can't reach, so only an overhead can open you up. In frame trap setups, there're gaps in specific places where you can stick out fast moves like P and K to interrupt them. Sometimes you can jump out. What makes the traps strong however is that you need to guess or predict when the opponent will risk those openings in order to continue the offense. This comes down to character knowledge first, then player knowledge. Lastly, don't forget about the in game universal systems. Blitz Shield costs 25% meter, and you have to predict high or low, but I doubt many would expect it out of May as she has no options usually. Just be careful when they start baiting it. Be sure to convert off those mixing up with a low, and any non-low combo to make sure it's not easy for you to be blitzed back. Next there's dead angle. Costing 50% meter, but it's hard to bait, and occurs while in block stun. I often forget to use either of these myself, but they're definitely strong tools.
  11. Is there a smart way, or preferred buttons to handle her corner pressure as Ky? Like with fighting Sol's frametraps, I'm at a loss, though my understanding of anti-Sol options have improved, for Elphelt it's just "don't be in the corner". lol
  12. This video cropped up on my YouTube wall, and on the articles section of Dust Loop lol. Everyone that's having trouble getting their stuff started, getting counter hit a lot, or just can't move their character forward, pay extra attention to this video, and likely the next few in the series as they come. I suggest everyone follow Vesperarcade either way as there's always solid learning content out of that channel. TGThunder: This video covers the subject I wanted you to pick up on by playing Potemkin. Definitely noticed you were using your normal attacks better, and I distinctly recall a part in one round where you persistently zoned me out very effectively with just pokes. Once you feel comfortable doing that more consistently, then set ups and converting hits into bigger damage becomes the next step. Good stuff, man.
  13. I started an Xrd Community with the PS4 3.0 update. If anyone didn't get an invite then let me know. It's going to make organizing and informing a LOT better. ^_^ It's currently open to the public, and called "The Xrdcise Room"
  14. We usually complain hard when the connection gets bad, so I think everyone was ok. Connection was great all around for me, and I was streaming too. There was only issue where two players seemed unable to connect to each other at all for some reason. Don't know what that was about. Edit: It was you actually, and the Sin player, Abyss? Not sure what was up there, but I'm from NY it we were good. Mecha is further north and he didn't say anything about lag.
  15. Kite, do I have you on PSN/Twitter? Add me if not. I think I missed some people because separating my "typical friends" from my lobby friends in the list is a nightmare lol. Hopefully tomorrow's community update features makes it easier.
  16. Ok, looks like I'll be creating the lobby at North America 1-District 1A(NewEngland)#1 If it's too full by 10pm, just check #2 instead for Xrdcise room. Okay, #2 it is lol. Lobby is up a little early.
  17. We play weekly, Tuesday nights at 10pm. Or how often do we have meter management problems? Only sometimes. My philosophy is that if you're not burning meter, you're not playing g to your full potential. Burning meter is only a waste if the damage added or situation isn't worth it. The bad trait I have is committing to something that needs meter to be safe, but not realizing I didn't build the meter up lol. At any rate, just makin really aggressive moves will keep the gauge well filled. Also, I know you asked about how often the meet up is, but I thought the rest would be fun to type anyway lol. :D
  18. That video makes me kind of mad lol I played against a friend who doesn't play the game, but is curious about Chipp. I won about 60/3 but he only got anywhere because I wasn't sure how to handle the 'ports. Other than that, catching him and his triple jump. Not sure what buttons are best in the common situations.
  19. Happy to have you guys aboard. The lobby location will be different this coming Tuesday. I'll post the night of when I find the spot as a PSN message, a tweet, and on this topic. ^_^
  20. I host a training room every Tuesday at 10pm for beginner to intermediate players. It's a fun environment where we try out what we practice against each other without getting overwhelmed by people that are too advanced. We bounce ideas, and advice off of each other too. I've really improved as well with these guys. If you're interested add me on Twitter and PSN. Usually lobby location is in my sig, except next Tuesday we're trying something different, so I'll be tweeting and messaging the new location that night.
  21. The Potemkin wiki is really thorough. Start there for sure and note that the focus of the text is on his footsie tools first, and variating his approaches. That's something I thought your Sol was lacking. Lots of risky stuff and sometimes at bad ranges. Pot might be good at getting you use to picking your shots carefully and more deliberately with normals. http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=GGXRD/Potemkin/Strategy Here's the Chen video I was talking about in lobby. He definitely has some tough input stuff to work out, but if you can execute well then definitely stick with him. If you can't execute his stuff well, I'd still keep him as a secondary. There's a lot his more deliberate style of play can teach you, habits-wise, that'll extend to any fighter.
  22. CYB3RTOOTHCRUZ: Start here on the wiki for general things to consider with Slayer. Links are at the bottom for other important sections too. I was trying to say in the lobby before that Slayer normals aren't the greatest, so you'll have to take risks for big damage. I normally like to start learning characters by seeing what combos from a low and an overhead, I'd approach Slayer the same way, but knowing that his footsies are weak, I'd look for the best ways to punish unsafe moves to let my opponents hang themselves. That's just to start getting my feet wet though, and is fairly basic. Next I would look into the more gimmicky set ups that lead to your big damage. Normally I'd tell people to limit the gimmicks (have to do that myself, which I've improved a lot on actually) but Slayer gets a huge payoff for it. Learn to do Dandy Step stuff with the mindset of "my opponent likes to tag me with X at Y range, I can predict when he's likely to do it and get a huge payout if I win!" What I'm mostly saying here too is to build your tools set by step/ Trying to get everything all at once will slow you down and make you frustrated. Even tonight, I kept going for a particular set up I've been practicing even though I wasn't hitting it in the lag. There're other things I can do to win the round, but once I get comfortable with my new tool, that's when I'll really get stronger. http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=GGXRD/Slayer/Strategy I don't know if you've seen James Chens character breakdowns for Xrd, but this link goes straight to Slayer. He breaks down the characters more simple concepts, and often touches on trickier aspects, but again explaining it very clearly. At the end he gives a list of top players to follow and study too; definitely do so.
  23. Lobby is up ^_^
  24. Nice. Always love seeing Venom represented.
  25. I try to go over gun flame sometimes, but the success rate isn't great. for mixing in over heads, I've been practicing from HCSE, jump in, air dash at lowest possible, then j.H, 5K, c.S, 6K, 236D, (micro dash) 2D, repeat. The j.H can be left out for an impossible(?) to react to 50/50, but know it only combos if you dash in from the lowest allowed height (lower than an IAD allows). Don't know how common this set plays, but it's blown me up a lot from one of the guys I play with lol.
