[Xrd] Leo Whitefang General Discussion

Wait, last I checked you can't YRC [2]8S/HS (or any other invulnerable reversals in general)? -

The thing with f.S is that it's the only thing that stops the opponent from endlessly crouching, since it only combos to 5HS on crouchers. I like it how it is - not very useful in conventional offense, but great for traps and feints. -
If I recall correctly for Holy Orders III to play you need your opponent to be at match point and land a couple moves over a certain level - or get an instant kill on KY at any time except the match point.

[Xrd] Leo Whitefang General Discussion

I always use [4]6HS YRC for oki or space control. Rather than trying to crossup with 236HS every time, I like to take to the skies sometimes - and do either IAD j.D or dash in IAD with crossup j.236HS. The second option is very risky and should only be done when the projectile isn't blocked. J.D is more interesting - if you space it right you can even go to j.236HS from it. Even if they block it, you're free to start your pressure, making it even safer if they're eating the YRC'd projectile. -

I don't think RC rekka extensions are a bad choice. BT really makes people think twice, if you're smart. I had a lengthy set against a competent Sol player two days ago (no recording unfortunately), and BT was the most important part of our games. Often times when we'd get a screen's length away from each other, if I had 50 meter, I'd just plain enter BT by whiffing 5HS. After having his typical Gunflame YRC jump-in offense shut down by BT D, he'd get a little more careful, trying to bait something (jump forward backdash etc), only to get caught by Stahl Wirbel a fair share of times. This OD instills fear in opponents without reliable full screen options easily. The other big thing with BT was that many players seem to assume certain things about it. Getting careful when you're in it, but really reckless when you just leave it. Many, many counter hit flash kicks. Overall the biggest strength Leo has is, in my humble opinion of course, conditioning your opponent using simple tools. The amount of patience it takes to get out of his offense is ridiculous, and he can break it up easily into different forms using just as little as 25 meter, almost effortlessly. Kind of like Sol, just with far better blockstrings - but being patient just shuts him down. That's where the idea of making your opponent afraid of BT comes in place. The hard part is that it's less matchup dependent, and more opponent dependent. High level lag free play is a mid tier sentence for Leo. Still, he's hella fun. -

I had some good times lately with ending strings with 2D and then going either [2]6 HS for oki, 236HS (whiff) for stance shenanigans (doesn't work in the corner of course) or delayed 236HS>YRC>throw to get more unpredictable. Overall his options after a knockdown are surprisingly fun. -

That he is. While other new characters are fun, none of them are quite as fleshed out personality-wise (in their gameplay, mannerisms etc.) as Leo. His mid-fight winposes are masterpieces. -

The only things I don't like is the fact you can't enter his stance without at least whiffing something (I was hoping that you could just hold HS when doing anything else and enter the stance as soon as possible), and, if I'm not mistaken, that RCing in the stance cancels it (unlike Elphelt's stances). Except that, he's pretty great. I'll stick to Sol as my main, but Leo surely goes as a "main" sub. -

I believe these results are well within Arc's estimates. GG never really had potential to sell fast. The more important question is "Will it sell continously?". There's potential in the game's longevity. -

13 minutes ago from now. Leo's probably not up yet. -
A lot of other winquotes against Pot follow the lines of "You're such a scary robot... wait, you're human?", so this is just an attempt at a running joke or something. Potemkin is as human as always.

DLC is cross-buy (as said by ASW), the game is not (which was never even mentioned in any official or semi-official statement). -

The most ridiculing part is that Big Blast Sonic is even mentioned in the credits as "OP song". That's a bad joke if I ever heard one. -

There's no console opening. Which is totall bull. What the hell Arc? The song is there, even a simple montage would've been enough... -

Ok, I'm gonna let that "f you" part slip. I have JP voices and performance mode on. Also, I'm on wired and I can play Persona or BB just fine on the same wire. The point is, the game DISPLAYS 2 frame delay and a 4 bar connection, but doesn't feel like it at all. It's not stable, it's slow. If it only had that 2 frame delay, it'd be fine, but the whole thing feels unresponsive, outside of delays. Whatever indicators of connection quality there are, they're not working well. I played a friend yesterday, he's on an average and wireless, the delay was between 3 and 17, mostly stable at 5. And while laggy and not really fun, it felt better than some 2 frame connections. The delay was bigger but it just felt faster, more responsive. Something is fundamentally wrong with the way they rate and display connection quality. The netcode is still shit, but in other shit netcodes, I can at least be sure of what to expect when playing a game with a 4 bar connection. If there's anything they need to fix, it's this. Then, perhaps it will be easier to find responsive matches. And, well, unplayable may have not been the right word to use. I will have to rephrase that - online is not fun. -

Just tried online. It's unplayable, even with 4 bar connections 2-3 frame delay feels like half a second lost just before anything happens. Such a waste of time... -

So, there probably was a street date... US release of this game is such a chaotic affair, I hope it doesn't affect the sales. Still better than Europe though. -

Hopefully the PS+ trial will get me them #14 colors. Coolest alts in the game. -
The classic tracks do sound bad, but it's not just being compressed - they simply were recorded and produced poorly. Hell, Chronophantasma was the first Arc game with a well produced soundtrack - the rest was between average and plain bad. Xrd tracks sound fine.

I plan on buying physical copies of most games I own digital... when they're down to 10$ used. With fighting games the idea of having an item on your shelf is not worth missing out on days/weeks of play for, in my oppinion, of course. -

EDIT Yeah, got it now. I think they're veeery wrong about something here. Or maybe they were in talks with someone about it, but it failed and they couldn't edit it in game. Whatever it is, the EU release seems as nonexistent as ever.
