Well, since I'm a poor European peasant and buy games digitaly, that's hardly convincing. Still, I'm likely getting both versions EDIT Now I got ninja'd. -

I don't know if I missed it or it went unnoticed, but here's a great tweet: https://twitter.com/Yamanaka_ARC/status/537417494902755328 Also, this reply: https://twitter.com/Yamanaka_ARC/status/537427399311253504 Assuming they release this patch any time soon after the US release, there might be no more reason to buy both of them. That's great news. -

All we get out of this situation in the end is that we can be sure that with the PS3 version Arc wants to deliver a quality product, despite the limitations. ...so if I see another "PS3 30FPS" post, I'm gonna lose hope. -

There was acutally talk that the PS3 version was harder to port, from an interview with Ishiwatari if I recall corectly. It sounds like a case of "if you pick this stage and these characters and launch these two ODs at the same time the game drops to 40FPS", which is really nothing to worry about, and if it disturbs you, just set it to "speed". My guess is that people who didn't play the game in the arcades or on the "quality" setting/PS4 version wouldn't even notice anything missing. -

So it seems they're not 100% confident that the PS3 can handle the exact same stuff as the arcade and removed some superficial stuff. Lot of fuss over nothing, at least we do get the game and assured 60FPS whenever. The only part that leaves me curious is how (according to Google Translate of course) he claims that even in image quality setting, the game usually works fine. -

Whatever it is, it's really safe to assume it's more directed towards casual players that prefer better graphics over high framerate. Or maybe they want to include a video rendering feature, kinda like Ultra Street Fighter IV had, and it's only on PS3, because PS4 has the SHARE button? Hell, we can guess, but still, it won't gimp the gameplay. They'd be a bunch of liar assholes, and ASW is a lot of things, but not liars (lately). -

If this setting would make the game anything less than they promised before release, they wouldn't be so up front about revealing it. There's no reason to panic just yet. Like Dreiko pointed out, it might have something to do with load times. Whatever it is, it won't break the game's functionality, that would be borderline absurd. Also, we have account of people playing the PS3 version at TGS, claiming it plays just as good as the arcade one. We don't know which setting it had, but it's rather reasonable to assume it was the "speed" one, considering no framerate complaints. -

Actually, that reminds me of some PS2 fighting games (mostly SNK releases) that had a "normal" and "smooth" rendering options, that blurred the sprites a little bit. Maybe it's some sort of effect to hide the edge aliasing? Guess we'll know in a week. -

Hm, that toggle thing bothers me... whatever it is, I hope online is enabled only when using the faster setting. I doubt they'd render at a higher resolution. My guess is that it's about rendering additional stuff - effects and backgrounds. Here's hoping that the "speed" setting is arcade-perfect. -

Is the JP preload available already? I still don't have internet at home and I have to find someplace to download it, no point doing that if it's not up yet though. Also, if anyone knows, are JP preloads unlocked at midnight (relative to the store of course)? My US preload of Ultimax was, and I'm curious if that's the case there too. -

English dubs have only been getting better and better. It's been a while since I've heard an outright horrible dub in an even relatively big release. -

A lot of people from the community that were there. It supposedly displayed that the version they're playing is the PS3 version. EDIT I just had a few words with a buddy of mine who was at TGS, so I want to clear things up. They supposedly had both the PS3 and PS4 versions there. This alone would pretty much confirm that the games are, for the most part, identical, since barely anyone seems to have noticed. He's pretty sure he played the PS3 version, because compared to the arcade version he's been playing quite a bit of, it looked pretty much the same, and the later released PS4 demo had just a little bit smoother picture to him. So, outisde of the resolution, the versions appear more or leass identical. No 30FPS bullcrap or other gimping. If we have anyone who's been to TGS/knows people who were to TGS here, I'd appreciate someone confirming (or denying), just to be sure. -

I stopped caring to wait for a EU release the moment US one was announced. Even if we get it, there's no guarantee we will even get the DLC characters (I think BBCP still doesn't have them for the EU version). And for the money it will cost to import the US release to Europe you could almost get both JP anf US digital releases. -

I used to have 4 friends that played a pretty great Rock in Garou, and I could tell who's playing at the time, even when they played each other. Same with good ol' Samurai Shodown II (oh man, that game...). It's just a thing that happens when you design the gameplay and characters well. And since Xrd looks like a damn fine game, no wonder good players give it personality. Do we have any information about classic GG music in Xrd? Probably gonna be a couple DLC packs, I'm just curious if anything's announced yet. -

FB's were cool, but Arc seems to really want to direct the meter usage to RCs, so it's no wonder they're not here. In the end, YRCs appear to give characters more interesting and varied options than simple stronger special moves. -

Xrd will get an English dub, Aksys confirmed it on multiple occasions. It will also feature the original Japanese audio, but won't have Japanese text option (I had Aksys confirming that for me on Facebook a few days ago). -
Really? My bad. I never really use it, so I thought it works this way. Sorry 'bout that.

Based on the first few matches (when I get internet at my new flat I'll see the whole thing), your mistakes are the mistakes every Adachi player makes (me included). Don't roll so much. Multiple times you got caught rolling through Aigis' Persona and comboed after. Too many j.2D's. The reward is tempting, but it's never worth it. There were so many chances where instead of just jumping and throwing it out you had the meter for Atom Smasher, that would work way better (to your credit though, I stopped seeing them so much later on). In the second fight (IIRC) for example, you had the round won the moment your opponent tried to fire rockets at you - but instead of Atom Smasher you did j.2D again and got beat for it. It may seem Adachi has better options to use his meter, and he does, but Atom can really scare your enemy, make their fullscreen options far more limited, and that's important against Aigis. In a later match, arount 9:30, you got Persona broken for abusing j.2D's and lost the significant lead pretty fast. When you got your Persona back, bursted and attempted to Ghastly Wail them. Without Mandala, it's a terrible idea. Not only would Aigis probably survive this (Awakening damage reduction), you had almost 150 meter, which would've been enough to do... anything, pretty much. I'm gonna mention Atom Smasher again, but if you didn't run in, there is a hefty chance that your opponent would get impatient and eat SB Atom Smasher, or even if they block it, it's safe and you still have enough meter for another one. Making a blocked DP safe with Heat Riser is a TERRIBLE idea. I saw that once, I'm not even sure if you intended it for that purpose, but that's what happened. If you got your DP blocked and got meter, OMC it, unless you really desperately want the Heat Riser buff and got 75SP, this one gives the buff even on block. Still, not worth it, the amount of blue health you get when you super cancel the DP is ridiculous. If this super cancel was intended to hit, it's still a bad idea. DP in general is a bad idea, unless it's a very, very hard read for a Fatal Counter, that can get you a nice combo. It's an amazing reversal, but unless you're risking getting blockstringed to blue health hell by an Akihiko or Labrys player, you're better off blocking some hits and looking for an opening than just throwing it out. Multiple times you seemed to extend corner combos from crouching hits with 2B>j.C (example at 12:33), but completely ignore the chance you'd get if you used Heat Riser. If you have 50 meter, just and combo them from there - by extending, you give your opponent a chance to burst, and miss out on the Riser defense buff, that makes a world of difference sometimes. The damage you'd miss bypassing 2B>j.C extension will easily come from the buff itself. You could also go for 2C straight after it, preventing them from bursting if they don't expect it and get just that little bit more out of the corner and have all the advantage you need to mix them up again. That round was a pretty big loss, but it could've been avoided by not making another mistake roll attempt and not realizing you sit on a ton of meter - use it more. Sorry it's written so chaotically, but I'm using work breaks to watch and write, so it's a little hectic. I'll watch the rest later and try to comment on it.

I recall reading somewhere that PS3 digital would cost 5537. I hope it's true, a little extra money never hurt anyone. EDIT Guess it's the price without tax. Meh. Still buyin'. -

Japanese communities use the high-mid-low terms more like in 3D games. Mids are overheads, high are all block and low is... well, low. -

I had some luck tricking people into mashing using 4A on block. It's gimmicky as hell, but if you delay it enough, it sometimes catches them off guard. Also, I was losing a final round pretty bad, and landed the most riddiculous thing ever. Mandala 214C > 236236B > IK. They didn't even know what hit 'em. Only for laughs and shock value though. -

I always ignore the second 5B in this one and go straight to 2B - makes it a lot easier to do while not reducing damage too much. Can make a world of difference playing online sometimes.
