I'm now back at home. Too much HYPE over the last few days. More people need to show up for sessions when I come up next time. GG, DB, and MBAA action is HYPE!, lol.
-
Random Daemon Bride action this past Saturday was HYPE! GG action tonight. GET HYPE!
-
More or less, lol. I'll probably call you before I leave here tomorrow afternoon. I randomly play some chars every now and then since I have no local comp here whatsoever, lol.
-
Is I-No not working out for you? lol. I don't think it's limited to just one char but some chars are more difficult to use than others. IMO... Eddie Venom I-No Johnny Zappa Bridget Robo-Ky Mainly because of: executional requirements and/or technical char specific intricacies. Because of that, you are highly likely to spend a lot of time in training mode just to get their basics down, which for some of those chars already involves high execution and some technical stuffs right from the start, lol.
-
Oh shit, fighting words have been said, lol. That'd be nice but people who go there often don't even play GG anyway so it'd be a waste. Besides, look at our DL 808 thread. Only Bears, you, and myself, play GG currently and post up in here to talk about it. People who used to play GG quit and play BB instead, lol. That and it doesn't seem like many people in the 808 are interested in playing GG because they are playing more popular games like SF4 and T6. Eh, whatever, GG isn't for everyone cause it's SRS BIZ.
-
I watch both those shows, lol. With SGU, buildup seems a bit slow going but things are still interesting though with the conflict of interest between Telford and Young, Rush trying to figure stuff out with the ship, as well as other things going on with the crew and their interactions. With Sanctuary, IMO it needs more Tesla. I miss Ashley. I also wish you luck in learning I-No. Hope to see her in action this weekend.
-
So, how goes the learning of I-No?
-
Randomly playing BB at HBB? lol. That is the cliff notes edition of the original write up, lol.
-
That's a lot of chars. What, ABA too? Bears only suggested her cause he's seen my ABA in action. The last thing I need is more mirror matches, lol.
-
In regards to a rushdown playstyle, do you wish to utilize projectile attacks to implement rushdown or to just rely on physical attacks instead? List the chars that you are interested in playing and then I can give you some input based on your selections. Also, I might be coming up to Oahu next weekend. If I do come up we should have a GG session of some kind while I'm visiting, lol.
-
Hmm? *Goes to look at ihpsta's sig.* *Sees that is now listed there.* lol. Yes, what happened to Venom to prompt the change of chars?
-
I might be flying up to Oahu next weekend. So, any chance of a GG/MB session if I do come up? lol.
-
What the hell you doing Venom combos for? RANDOM. lol. With T6 out for PS3/X360, it's probably to try and get the TZ guys interested to come down and play at a HVGL tourney. I should go play some MBAA since it's been a while when I played it last, lol.
-
@ihpsta: Your idea sounds quite ambitious so I wish you the best of luck with all of that. Getting people interested to play either game is going to be quite the endeavor because not too many people actually play GG and BB compared to SF4, T6, etc. GG has a high barrier of entry to play while BB has quite a number of negative issues against it. For the most part players of either game are probably off doing their own thing because there is a limited local scene with not that many players. That's the case with GG anyway. BB at least has a cab at HBB's for some arcade comp, sessions via HVGL events, and of course online play. Hopefully people come out to play either GG or BB once the sessions start running though. And yes, GG is too much fun. @Bears: I too have also scared away people from playing GG, which is probably why I don't have any offline comp here whatsoever, lol.
-
Pretty much. If there is an announcement for a HVGL BB session, Sunday would be the day to go and check it out. I think the session usually starts around 3pm though you could probably show up earlier and jam some casuals while people start to show up. Bears will probably post up when another HVGL session takes place. Whether he is able to show up for it is another story, lol. As for BB comp at HBB's, Friday or Saturday would be ideal times to go because you are likely to have a higher influx of people possibly playing in the arcade game section cause it's the weekend. If Akureikaze happens to be down there then you can get some matches in with him as well as against other people if they are also playing the game.

IIRC the HVGL event block at HBB's currently goes something like this: Friday night: SF4 casuals and tourney. Saturday: [finput][/finput]. Used to be a gaming day though. Sunday afternoon: BB casuals and tourney? Maybe SSBB stuffs earlier in the afternoon if it still goes on. Probably other FGs as well if people bring stuff to play and there is any interest in them. So it would be either the 1st and 3rd Sundays or 2nd and 4th Sundays for HVGL BB sessions. I don't know how it is currently for BB comp at HBB's though but I would guess that either Friday or Saturday night would be good times to go. If I were to come up Oahu again to play GG, I would ask for a gaming session to be held on Saturday as that would be more convenient for me to attend. Dunno how many people would show up to play GG anyway outside of a few people but I think people would show up if another game was made playable that day as well. Maybe BB would probably work here for a day as the additional game that was played. ihpsta's idea for gaming sessions seems to be independent of HVGL stuffs and will probably be more focused on GG and BB but he needs to post up regarding my input on the subject. Where are you man? Post up, lol. If that idea takes off then I would say that Saturday would be a good day to do the gaming sessions.

As for an upcoming HVGL event schedule, updates have kinda been sporadic as of late but there were usually 2 events per month on a biweekly schedule. Usually a post (via SRK) about an upcoming event is made a week before the event takes place then Bears usually posts up about it here afterwards. BB is pretty much set for Sundays w/ SSBB IIRC and supposedly there are some SSBB players that play BB. From what Bears told me last time he attended, BB casual play was kinda scrubby with people using easy shortcuts to do special moves and stuff, lolz. Also BB is played on X360 and a tourney ($10 entry) takes place if there is enough interest and people participating. Bears sometimes makes an appearance there and may dabble a bit with BB but is more likely to play GGAC if there is any comp (myself and/or 2 others) that show up. I think Akureikaze plays BB at HBB's regularly but I don't know if he attends HVGL events for BB. I only fly out to Oahu every so often and it's mainly just to play GGAC with Bears and whoever else decides to play.
-
Were there any other Dizzy players at EVO 2K9 besides woki, myself, and hotnix? I had the opportunity to play against woki's Dizzy in a casual mirror match. Those were some hella good matches, which were sometimes crazy as well, lol.
-
I take it that no one went to the HVGL event this past Sunday? Do people even play offline BB comp anyway, besides people who actually go down to HBB's to play BB? Or do people only play online BB comp? Also people should post up more so we can talk story or something.
-
I would be down for monthly GG sessions cause it would be nice to fly up to Oahu and play some comp again. Hopefully more people actually show up to play GG though, other than just Bears and myself like at one HVGL event, lol. As far as ranbats stuff though? It would be interesting to implement but I think it would be better to get some casual sessions going on first to gauge player interest in each game's respective scene and then go from there. AFAIK there are only a few people that actually play GG and supposedly there are a fair amount of BB players; some through HVGL, some through HBB, and probably some who just play online.
-
Thread seems somewhat lively now with the recent posts, lol. ihpsta: Yes, pick up GG. If you have any Q's about it just ask. Also, try to get in touch with Bears cause I think he would probably be down for some GG sessions outside of HVGL stuffs. Bears: Who are you using in MBAA? Mikachiru: People post up sporadically in here cause there isn't much to talk about and everyone is usually off doing their own thing for the most part. Most of the players that have posted up in here are from Oahu IIRC, except for me though cause I'm from the Big Island where there is like no local comp for GG here whatsoever. Anyway, welcome to the 808 thread, lol. Spirit Juice: This thread has become more HYPE with you just posting in here, lol.
-
Sounds good. I'm down for some MBAA stuff along with the usual GG action at a HVGL event the next time I come up to Oahu.
-
Bears, you're barely visible in that pic save for the green shoulder of your shirt, lol. I've been playing MBAA for about a week now. Good stuff.

After watching the highlighted part in the vid and then trying the combo out in training mode, it looks like after the Ice Spike FRC hits, the IAD j.2S>j.H has to hit JO low in the air in order to followup with a j.K>aircombo after landing from the IAD stuffs. My guess is that you were hitting JO higher up in the air with the IAD stuffs which didn't allow for a followup j.K>aircombo cause he was able to tech out. Range could be an issue as well cause in the vid the Ice Spike FRC looks like it hits at a far range which allowed the IAD j.2S>j.H to hit JO while he was already falling low in the air, then allowing for a successful followup j.K>aircombo afterwards. Hope that helps.

Wait, so only 3 people actually showed up to play GG this past Sunday? As for me though, I said I was down to play GG at a BB tourney. I didn't say I was gonna show up on that Sunday to play though, lol. I'll probably post up my player info soon, either by editing and updating my 1st post or via a later post when I decide how I want to format it and such.
