More people from SRK's 808 thread? lol Welcome to the DL 808 thread. Now with BB players. Not too many people know about this thread cause not that many people in Hawaii actually play ANIMU FG's and post up to talk about them, lol. ROFL Fickle? IMO, more like 'wishy-washy'. Did you even read his quotes about stuff? lol. If you want someone to start up scene stuff for your FG that: - Doesn't play/take your game seriously. - Barely plays any casuals in your game whenever the opportunity is present. - Doesn't want to go play comp because somewhere is "too far". Ihpsta is your guy... for much disappointment and FAIL. TBH, you and/or one of the people that you play BB with, are probably more better suited to try and make an 808 BB scene happen because you actually like playing the game. Dagger_G endorses you and I've heard your name metioned a few times in regard to BB stuffs.

Well, he 'tried', but ultimately things didn't work out and resulted in FAIL. LOL Here's a rundown of how things went: - Sometime during Oct 09, Ihpsta announced that he wanted to do casuals/ranbats for GG and BB, IIRC through HVGL stuffs. - The 2 GG players at the time (myself and Bears) said 'No' to the ranbats idea because nobody else really played GG and didn't seem to be interested in wanting to play the game. Dunno about BB at that time though, lol. - I suggested setting up casual sessions for those games to gauge interest and possibly see if other people wanted to pick up GG or whatever. If there was enough interest in GG with people actually playing casuals, then maybe you could do ranbat stuff. - Ihpsta begins to jump around the GG cast in order to find a char to use. - HVGL events come and go and Ihpsta doesn't really play any GG casuals and plays SF4 instead. - I manage to make it out to Oahu for a weekend back in Nov 09. Bears decides to host casuals for GG and invites Ihpsta. He doesn't attend, which leaves me and Bears to have casuals by ourselves in GG, MB, and DB. - Mid Dec 09, Ihpsta says that he's: LOLZ He also says that he gonna try to start up ranbats for GG, MB, and AH via HVGL events starting in Jan 2010. The ranbats don't take place due to low interest in those games and that only a few people actually play those games. - Ihpsta somewhat decides on a char to use and also decides that it's: BTW, this was at the start of 2010, lol. - More HVGL events come and go and I hear Ihpsta finally plays a casual GG match... in Jan 2010. Well, it's only one match and it was against King33. Only one match, after how long? - Fast forward to Feb 2010 and the topic of having casuals comes up in a discussion between King33, Bears, myself and Ihpsta. Bears suggests that he could probably hold casuals for GG/MB/etc. at his place in Waipahu and/or probably at the next HVGL event. King33 says: Ihpsta says: - I reply to Ihpsta: - Ihpsta pretty much disappears from the DL 808 thread before the end of Feb 2010 and runs back to the SRK 808 thread? LOLZ - Mar 2010, in SRK's 808 thread, Ihpsta announces that he wants to do a petition and garner support to bring in a BBCS cab to Fun Works. IIRC, only about 4 people express some interest and support the idea. Nothing really comes from it in the end because IMO it's "too little, too late." Also, he doesn't post this up in DL's 808 thread to ask for our opinion, to which I still would've said 'No', lol.

So, the only venues currently available for casual session stuffs are: - PC Gamerz Kaneohe - HVGL event(s) - CT at HBB Outside of that, there's nothing? Hmmm... Maybe someone could host casuals or something? At least that way, you all could meet up outside of gaming event stuffs, which seem to be infrequent? The only real issues for everyone that might be interested in this would be: time, location, and availability. Wait... So you all played casuals in CT instead of CS? SADLIFE LOLZ My opinion on BB scene stuffs: 1. Focus on the 'core' playing group. 2. Schedule more casual sessions. 3. Don't worry so much about getting more casual players to play BB. 4. ???? 5. PROFIT?

September 11, 2010 is more or less the day that an 808 BB player has expressed the idea of trying to start up a local BB scene here in Hawaii, in the DL 808 thread anyway via Shujinko's proclamation response to a question of mine. Though the idea for this probably came about earlier than that date. Still, it's better late then never, even though it's only in Fall 2010 when this finally comes about, lol. However, 9/11 remains a day of tragedy regardess, for a few reasons besides the obvious anyway. I wonder if I'll ever go and pick up a copy of CS someday. If CS is re-released on a disc with all of the DLC chars and balance patch stuffs, I might consider picking it up then, lol. Maybe... If one of my friends here on the Big Island had tried to tell me to go pick up a copy of CT when it first came out, I would probably laugh and then say, "No thanks, I'll pass on the SADLIFE." It's not like I'm missing out on anything. LOL

The 808 thread is somewhat less RANDOM now since more people are posting up in here, lol. Looks like you get one more shot at playing other 808 BB players before you leave, so that's good, right? So that's how Dagger_G fared at MBAA at EVO 2K10... LOL What about DAT GG? That HYPE game has air dash stuffs too. Well, it's nice to see that 808 BB exists somewhat, in this thread anyway, even though it's taken until late summer/fall 2010 for it to happen, lol. Cool. AFAIK, no one in Hawaii plays those chars in GG, though I somewhat RANDOMLY dabble with Baiken sometimes. Then again, only a few people in Hawaii actually play GG in the first place, lol. IMO, one (or both) of them should make an appearance in the DL 808 thread to discuss possible BB scene stuffs considering that there are a fair amount of BB players in this thread. You don't have to worry much about playing on a GG cab here in Hawaii, unless you want to play on the FUBAR GGXX cab that may still be at Mililani Fun Factory?. We play GGAC on PS2 when there are sessions. IMO, PS2 controller is easy to use (I use it) compared to the XBOX dpad, which is . Funny thing though is that I used to play #Reload on XBOX w/ the stock controller before using a PS2 controller adapter, lol. It just takes some practice is all. And finally, which chars did you use when you played #Reload and which chars would you use if you were to play AC?

@denden Well, there probably are some online BB players in Hawaii, but only a few of them actually post up in this thread, lol. And even then, it's a split playerbase between consoles. So far I see: 3 people w/ XBOX Live ID's and 4 people w/ PSN ID's. And even then, it's up to them whether they decide to add you and play you in online matches. If you are looking for offline players though, you are in luck (somewhat) since you live on Oahu with a majority of the people that post up in this thread. Maybe if the other BB players are interested, you guys and girls can discuss the possibility for offline casuals, or something? That is, if there is interest and support, lol. And before you ask: I don't play BB. LOL @Big Red Tie I've seen you around in the BB section of DL and was wondering if/when you'd find your way to the 808 thread, lol. Sup man. Yeah, it's been kinda lively in here even though it's still somewhat RANDOM posting, lol. Mostly BB players though for the 'nonexistent BB scene' here in Hawaii (lol), but there's at least one person (maybe others?) who's somewhat interested in playing GG, which I hope they do. - Watch some GGAC matches on YT to see the game in action. - Pick up a copy of GGAC for PS2. - Try the game out for yourself: practice a chars' moves in training mode and play some arcade/vs cpu mode. Basically, try to get a grasp for how GG plays. - PS2 controller is fine for starting out. Don't worry about peripherals like fightpads or sticks just yet. Your first hurdle to clear will be to see if you actually like playing GG enough before you consider to take the game more seriously. If you have any other Q's about GG stuffs, just ask. Oh, and welcome to the 808 thread. HVGL tried to run some BB stuffs in the past. Sadly, no one really played the game there, save for some RANDOM moments with some people somewhat playing BB, lol.

Funny you should mention Kawaii-Kon... IIRC there were 2 gaming things going on at the Kon: - Kawaii-Kon's gaming room. - HVGL gaming event. An HVGL guy that Bears and I know decides to run GG at the Kon. We were like, "You're better off running BB cause no one besides myself, Bears, and a friend of ours actually plays GG, lol." So our friend goes down there to play some GG. When I ask him later how it went he tells me that Bears and I didn't miss much; mostly RANDOMS and stuff, lol. SSF4... I haven't played that game since late May/early June. Makoto...

TBH I think that the biggest problem with BB here in Hawaii is the lack of support. Though there may be a few people that actually play BB here in the 808, IMO no one really represents it here in Hawaii. It's probably due to the fact that there isn't really much of a local scene for the game because AFAIK no one is really pushing for BB to be played, except for a few people that actually play BB? That, and another issue BB has going against it in regards to support is because of GG. If the 808 GG players (all 2 of them) don't really play/support BB, there must be something really wrong with BB that makes the GG players not want to take the game seriously, at all. LOL Who are you and what island are you on? lol Hmmm... If you are somewhat interested in playing GG, try it out for yourself and see if you like playing it. That's about it.

IMO, Hawaii's FG scene is currently like this: Capcom - SSF4 - Other FGs like 3S, MvC2, etc. Namco - T6 ANIMU FGs - GG - MB - AH - BB - PC donjon FGs A lot of people are playing SSF4 and/or T6. Only a few people are actually playing GG, MB, and to an extent BB. How the ANIMU FGs break down: (in regard to this thread anyway, lol) 2 people mainly play GG. 1 person mainly plays MB and at least 2 other people play some MB. 1 person who mainly plays BB is only visiting Hawaii for the summer, 1 person is interested in learning BB, and now the 2 of you who play BB. RANDOM: 2 people play AH and some DB, LOL. IMO, ANIMU FGs in regard to the rest of the 808 FG scene: - Only 2 people are actually playing GG and post up to talk about it. - Only a few people are actually playing MB and somewhat post up to talk about it, lol. - Outside of a few people(?), no one really plays BB as their main FG (AFAIK, most people play BB as a side game), much less post up to talk about it, and even then RANDOMLY. I could go on but I'll save it for another time, lol. GG stuff: - I play Dizzy, some ABA, and some RANDOM chars including Millia, Jam, and Baiken. - BearsWithKnives plays Axl, some May, and some RANDOM chars. - I am down for GG casuals when I fly up to Oahu, lol. - Bears is usually down for GG casuals. - More GG players would be nice, lol. If either of you are interested in learning GG and have any Q's about stuff, just ask. BB stuff: - Mystic d is usually down for BB casuals but IIRC he's leaving Hawaii at the end of summer. - Akureikaze is somewhat down for BB casuals, though he'd rather play MB instead, lol. - I think Hi-Risk might be down for BB casuals... if he's not playing SSF4, lol. - I think Bears is somewhat okay with BB casuals, though he'd rather play GG instead, lol. - I don't play BB, LOL.
