i think there's a metaphor in here about how arc's other series are nice and all, but they'll always get run over when there's new Guilty Gear on the way. or just Dark Angel wheels. whatever.

The first design with the shorts is all new. The frilly dress is what she's wearing while in the ice cube in GG2. They both look pretty great. i was thinking the same thing. He looks like a combo of Q from Third Strike and Nero Chaos from Melty Blood. thoughts: Sin - Looks exactly the same as he did in GG2. Sol - More ragna-ish than in the final product. I expect a few of these really different designs to be alt.costumes in the future. Slayer - Really cool. Millia - Mostly lines up except for some color differences. Jam - Its Jam! Woooo! Bridget - Looks more like a guy now? Johnny - Looks like a rejected Ky design from GG2. (No really, there's an unused design for Ky from GG2 with a beard) Chipp - Its Chipp. We already know what he looks like in game. Izuna - Looks silly with that hood. Nekomata looks about the same. That Man - Looks scary with that hood. May - Lines up even more than Milia's look. Pretty much confirms these are legit. Zappa - Kinda similar. Same with S-ko. Dr. Paradigm & Bonnie - I hope there are bit like the "Teach Me!" sketches from BB but with him explaining how the GG world works. Sin can play the student who doesn't know anything.

arc could do some amazing intro sequences now that they got the 3D going.

i sorta wonder if may didn't get any stat changes because arc didn't want to change her hit properties from the old games. imagine if she were taller and so had better reach with that anchor?

was there ever any concept art published of those forms? i've never seen any.

Neat. The GG Story thread is back. Anyway, some other things that are elaborated on in Overture and its side materials are: - Sol's Dragon Install is consuming him. It sounds like a condition that is escalating and his headband is losing it effectiveness at suppressing his Gear cells. Also his Xrd Install looks very similar to his look in GG2. - "The Backyard" is the foundation of all magical science. Its a weird super-dimension that pretty much contains the machine code for all universal physics and whole of existence. So magic in GG is like hex editing reality? - Sin has an eye patch for some dark mysterious reason. Also he hatched from an egg. Yeah that's weird. - Ky is was set up as a figurehead leader with no real power by shadowy forces who know about his secret wife. Obviously any subtle political schemes immediately cause one to think the PWAB is behind it. - A connection between Aria, Valentine and Valentine's "Mother." And why does Mech Valentine look so much like Justice?

Random extra? Isn't that April? And why are her textures backwards?

In fact, Justice's AC+ Story mode is a retelling of GG1 which includes the end of Kliff.

technically speaking, backwards aging is a thing in GG case in point: That Man.

Potemkin looks like Panzerfaust and even got a big (mike) Z on his chest. Its like Daisuke saw the Skullgirls campaign and thought: "those are some friggin' cool designs . . ."

was arc watching the skullgirls fundraiser? Potemkin looks like Panzerfaust! Chipp & Venom look pretty much unchanged except some small variations. May looks . . . weaker? Her arms look so thin compared to her AC art.

i presume Final Boss Valentine could fit that description perfectly. She is basically Justice with chainsaws.

Sin making it in seems likely since it GG2 was supposed to be his big introduction. Also Sol's mention of "that punk" from the xrd trailer made me immediately think of him. But Dizzy seems like a sure thing too. She's super popular in Japan and plays big role in the story. Unless she's still in that ice cube.

having checked the dates on the old GG stories thread, it is actually 2008. that said, maybe its time to restart a dedicated GG Lore/Story/Rampant Speculations/Whatever Else Thread and keep this thread discussion centered on the GG2 translations?

dizzy's imperial ray is actually a very VERY small laser that travels on the ground and that's what causes the flames. you can see sparks along the ground when she uses it during the the super flash.

I gotta say thanks for all the hard work getting these translations to us. what about one of Justice pinching Sin's face? that's what grandmas do, after all. Also Dizzy is Best Mom Ever, right?

the scary part is that Sol wears like 17 belts. Anyway, the Sin story is funny and hearing more about Zepp is nice too.

I like paradigm. I think he's represents aspect of the story we haven't really seen yet, which is a Gear Intellectual in charge of a functioning society of Gears. Given Ky's new internal conflict on making a world based on coexistence, I think he'd be pretty important. Also he's a dragon, not a bird.

just noticed this thread and wow these translations are very interesting. are these from the same art book as the story of the early days of the gear project with That Man, Fred and Aria? or is that something different?

I'm still kinda disappointed. I guess I'll just have to look up a story mode playthrough on youtube or hope there will be a PC version. how well would a streamed fighting game work?

I got CT and CS on 360 and skipped Extend because i figured Chrono Phantasma would be out eventually. now i'm just somewhere between worried and disheartened.

as for the AC+ endings that seem the most plausible: - Ky & Dizzy being together - Sol & Ky resolve their differences - Eddie somehow surpassing his expiration date - Millia still being around some other things we have no idea on are but are probably going to happen: - Chipp & Potemkin's buddy cop action comedy - May discovers her history but that ending is either her leaving or staying with the Jellyfish. So that's unresolved. - I-no still being in an ice cube seems likely since That Man is hanging out only with Raven in GG2
