I apologize, but a lot of us SoCal guys can't make it out on this date. There's a lot of financial aide issues for some of our college bros and there's a coinciding big tournament on that Saturday.

As far as rolls are concerned, they are vulnerable from frames 1-2, invulnerable on frames 3-24, vulnerable again on frames 25-33. I'll be releasing a video regarding this pretty soon. As for B+D, I believe they are all invincible/armored on frame 1. I'll be releasing about every B+D as well, after I do some more research on them.

There's no sensing hoping that P4U will do well if you don't come out and convince all your friends to come out. If you did what you can to show up and get your friends to show up, and it STILL does poorly, no one is really at fault there. But really, a game relies on its players more than anything else and it is meant for entertainment, so please just do what you can and nothing more. But to be honest, P4U still had more entrants than AE2012 (albeit by 1). If we can consistently stay around 30~40 on a Wednesday night, I really don't think there is any problem with the longevity of the game. Wednesday at 9PM is honestly a tough time to make it, so I'm not surprised if players end up playing more towards a more accessible time or venue. So yeah, come out guys! I want to play with you lol.

I see, I was recently using the way input appears on screen to determine throw break windows, so because of that, the numbers in my head are pretty fuzzy.

Interesting! I've been acting under the assumption that the difference was 1F instead of 2F, so if that's true, it would change some of the data that I've been testing.

I randomly have a copy I could sell you if you're interested. I'll send you a PM.

I don't mind establishing a standard for good commentary, because I know the majority of us don't care about being professional or helpful or even if we did, we don't know how to do it, so I do think coming up with paradigms for speaking about game mechanics would be really helpful. I don't think we need to specifically use terminology that people may or may not know, and instead we should just combine our unique terminology with helpful descriptors instead. In fact, to be honest, let's be real, the majority of stream monsters don't even understand basic fighting game terminology to begin with, so it's a mistake to normalize our terminology to an arbitrary level, imo. IE - Someone does reversal Narukami R-Action on wakeup and it lands : Commentator A - "<Player Name> counterattacks with his invincible R-Action attack!" Commentator B - <Comments on current gameplay situation with reference to Narukami landing his R-Action This way, we can get people to acclimate to our vocabulary while still keeping the terminology correct for actual players. Anyways, that said, this post is a complete train wreck lol. It would be nice if it wasn't a borderline rant so we could actually talk about it.

Greetings, it is I, the completely average warrior Xie. I am going to be testing system/character/etc mechanics in P4A and reporting my findings here. I have my own agenda, but I'm happy to share my findings in video form in this thread. You can think of this thread as a normal Q&A thread, but instead of answering a question based on what I know currently, I will test your question in game and report my findings in video form. I can't promise I'll answer them in the order I receive them, I am a very lazy human being so I'll probably do work on it based on donation amount how much it interests me. You can find me researching here: http://twitch.tv/xiei on random nights throughout the week. If you have a question, feel free to pop by or post it in this thread!

As expected, I'll be there. I hope you guys will all come out in full force to show support! I'm a little bit sad it's not at TRB instead (since there's some overlap between Marvel and P4A players), but maybe that's actually for the best logistics wise?
-
I'm gonna start hiring staff to deal with the next one. Who wants to donate so I can get some supermodels to help out? Actually for real, we could use someone to help babysit the stream and/or brackets. I'll probably bring a tablet next time so one or the other can happen. In unrelated news, the one on 8/11/12 is probably NOT happening. There are a number of conflicting events, so I don't think it's a physical possibility. Still, keep an eye on the thread to see what we'll be doing in the near future. Also, word on the grapevine is, a certain mainstream fighting game stream/tournament is going to have a WNF exhibition and a tournament on 8/12/12. Can't say until it's confirmed, but it's out there.

I'll be watching tomorrow morning, lol.

First post updated. We are set for the date at 7/28/12 for this weekend, starting at around the normal time. The policy has changed this time around, and venue is now $5 and we'll all be forced to wear wristbands. With that in mind, since this is just a for fun event, I went ahead and just cut the entry fees for both tournaments to $0, so just come out and have fun with us. Also my team name is Denpa Onna to Xieshun Otoko.

Updated the thread. It's still tentative since we don't have the dates nailed down just yet, but this is what we're going for. Also, I know this is going to be a bigger issue in the future as we go down the line and we start playing more and more games, but can we please not be douchebags towards each other's games? I've been sick of this shit since CT came out, and if I have to deal with it with every single new game I'm going to be extremely annoying. I know we're fighting gamers and we fucking hate every fighting game we don't play, but we're supposed to be the smaller, yet smarter and friendlier part of community right? So, if you end up hating P4U, BB, SG, GGAC+R, or Jackie Chan Fists of Fire down the line, try to tone down the hate, or do what I do, just be smart about it and discuss what you don't like about it. There's going to be a big influx of people who we want to make feel welcome in our scene, so I expect you oldfags to keep it friendly, alright? That said, I'm not going to police anyone, ever. I will just judge you from the back of my mind, so when you ask to come over to my house or something, we'll see how that goes. That said, see you guys there!

I may or may not be helping out with this tournament's logistics. So it may or may not have the quality you expect from tournaments that I previous run, for better or for worse.
-
I probably just made a math error, or remembered it incorrectly. Regardless, between 27% and 32% the untechable time is -2F.
-
Are you sure about that? Spark placed higher than you

Just FYI, 2B > 5B > 5C hitconfirms slightly farther than 2B > 5C. There's a specific space where 2B won't connect to 5C but 2B 5B will let you hit 5C. Not important on crouchers, obviously. Sorry, there is no easy answer to this. For reference, here is a chart about proration vs untech time/hitstun. Proration Ground Air 32% 0F -2F 27% 0F -3F 22% -2F -4F 18% -3F -5F 14% -4 -6F 10% -5F -8F 7% -7F -10F 4% -10F -13F 2% -14F -17F < 2% auto tech auto tech In this game, hitstun and untechable time are related directly to current combo proration, and at 32% proration (untechable time -2F), 214C > 6C > 22C > 5C becomes more difficult to land for that very reason. Here is the sample calculation: 2B .80*.86 5B *.89 5C *.92 236B *.92 5C *.92 2C *.92 214C *.82 6C *.94 22C *.94 = 31.4% If you leave the 5B out, you would have stayed above 32%, which is why the combo isn't so bad. When starting out, what you can do is consider the proration of the combo before 236B hits, then choose a route that is reliable for you afterwards. 236B is a reliable place for you to consider how much proration your combo has, then choose a route that works beyond that specific value. For me, I have routes for A LOT of difficult values and item combinations, but if you're starting out, I recommend just having one for above 63% (2B 5C) and below 63% (2B 5B 5C) / (5A 2B 5C) and below 40% (2A 5A 5A 5C etc).

I'm not going to stop you from bringing your own equipment, but there is kind of a space issue at Super Arcade. Just come on down for the 28th and see if you'll have enough room before bringing anything other than a normal setup. If you're serious about bringing it every week, we could always use someone to record just footage + commentary on the side for youtube/nico encoding. There probably isn't enough bandwidth to go around for 2 streams at Super Arcade, otherwise I'd probably dual stream to Nico and Twitch at the same time. Edit: It seems like we'll be doing a practicing session + BB on that day. I have to confirm the date with Mike Watson before we go ahead and plan for it, so we may just be doing Jameschariot instead of being at Super Arcade.

Singles Results: Unfortunately, this is as far as it goes, Pool 4's bracket blew up somehow, so we don't have accurate placement for a lot of players.
