  1. Is Florida free to jump startup? Also someone add me on XBL. I should be getting P4 and my 360 this week.
  2. I always seem to have enough meter to do what I want, so I see nothing wrong with spending some on mixups. At the worst, they block it and you continue to press your advantage. If they decide not to block, you get a two hit coin + DB combo (assuming you timed it right). Plus, most people see the gap between a blocked DB and 2D and assume they can mash something; they can't. Really, I think the air coin is the single best change so far. As an anti-air it doesn't do much that Johnny didn't already have (albeit it's less of a commitment than superjump D or airthrow), but it'll greatly expand his midscreen okizeme, which I have felt to be his biggest weakness for quite some time now.

  4. I've been reading over the changes again, and in the thread over in Guilty Room someone posted that DB transport now goes ~1 character length horizontally, but higher vertically. That had me thinking; if the air coin is timed correctly, you can now do JI DB mixups off of a 2D knockdown midscreen. I haven't had much time to look for +R videos, but if anyone's seen this in a match please link it ITT.

  9. Hey man, when I see an anime avatar I just don't know what to expect. But uh, really, nobody here plays Gundam? Will any of you at least try AC +R? If not, I might just have to travel to bama on the weekends.
  10. Whoa there buddy, hope you didn't think I was serious. But really, I'd like to play EXVS on better than a blue connection, and hopefully get something started locally. There's a game store here in Pensacola that already has four TV's so if there's enough interest I'll talk with them about letting us use their venue.

  13. Alright, so I won't realistically be able to travel anywhere for at least another few weeks, but I'll have some time sooner or later. Hopefully there's still some GG heads around here, but I guess I wouldn't mind picking up BB again.
  14. So MC's are a bit faster now, and dashing is either silly or stupid depending on how it was improved. Sounds good to me.
  15. I actually had to scour search caches to retrieve the Mizzumi page. I have the whole thing on my computer, which I'll have access to again in a week or so. I transcribed most of it already, though, and I wanted to make some changes as well.

  17. Refer to this post. Johnny's worst matchups are easily Venom and Zappa, with Testament and Millia being bad but winnable. I like this idea.
  18. Anything to make his confirms easier is a good thing in my book. It's not like he's getting that damage for free, anyways.
  19. The reason Johnny is low tier in AC is simply because he has to take bigger risks than everyone else. He has good pokes, but many of them have long recovery which makes him one of the easiest characters to whiff punish in the game. This is actually how Johnny has been in every Guilty Gear, but in AC he doesn't have the safe midscreen pressure he did in Slash thanks to Jackhound now being a forcebreak. Like I said earlier, realistically speaking you can't give Johnny a significant buff without drastically changing his matchups. But, that's ok, because he doesn't need anything big. Auto JI on Killer Joker from transport is a must, as well as changing the input for Mist Stance Dash Jackhound from 66 214D to just 66 D. Those two changes alone would make him a much more manageable character to play. Even as someone with good execution, I occasionally miss both of those, and I've seen some of the best Johnny players (namely Satou) miss them as well. If I had to make one significant change to Johnny though, I'd definitely make the hitbox on his f.S hit just a bit lower. Not low enough to hit a crouching May or anything, but low enough so that it won't intermittently whiff over anything like it currently does against some crouches, runs and low profile moves.
  20. I'm convinced Slayer exists solely to teach new players how to instant block. As for May, just don't jump (well, for most characters, at least. Poor Chipp has to jump).
  21. Yep. As silly as it sounds, you can't afford to make a single mistake as Chipp. That being said, Chipp's mixups are stupid as hell and lead into more stupid mixups. Not to mention he has a good matchup against both Eddie and Testament, whereas most characters only have a good matchup against one of them.

  23. I wouldn't worry so much about the attendance, seeing as a lot of regulars couldn't make it. It was good fun, this is the kind of stuff that's gonna make me miss Norcal.
