I've yet to see a Kliff player struggle in any matchup, quite honestly. I can't even begin to fathom why Kliff is that low.
-
Oh yes, how could I forget? I spent an entire match just trying to figure out when to block high, lol.
-
"Nerfed the hell out of" is a bit of an overstatement. Zappa is straight up fucking dumb now, lol. As if he wasn't already good enough in AC, they decide to give him full screen whiff cancels for the sword, as well as full screen combos (which, obviously, are burst safe, since how are you gonna land a burst when he's on the other side of the screen?). It's not just the sword, either. The dog isn't quite as braindead as AC, but still very strong; he can still keep you blocking for as long as he wants you to, so I wouldn't say the dog got nerfed that badly. Ghosts are still the troll summon, and Raoh is still Raoh. As for Kliff being that low, I'm a little confused by that, myself. I'll have to ask around at Mikado to see what the rationale for that is. Jam at A tier sounds about right (I only see her getting higher), and Justice is probably gonna shoot up to B/B- one of these days.

I was skeptical of forward dash being faster, myself. I definitely noticed it covers more ground now, but I could never tell if it was faster or not. It sure seems like it. At least with what I've seen with dash IAD (like for corner mid MF Enkasu), it seems to move you a bit further than in AC.
-
I think it's about even, just for slightly different reasons than it was in AC. You definitely have to respect Sol more now, but he has to respect you a bit more, too. He has better average damage output now, but you have better pressure. I guess you could say both characters have negated their weaknesses as they pertained to this matchup.

From my experience and from what I've heard from JP players, there's really not that large of a gap between tiers in +R. The general consensus seems to be that the lower tier characters (even Justice) are viable. Personally, I'd go as far as to say that the cast as a whole has gotten quite a bit stronger from AC. Can't really speak to what characters I feel are harder to learn in +R since so far I've only used Johnny. If I had to say any character is being overlooked right now, it'd be Jam. I think she's easily a contender for A+/S.

I didn't mean to sound condescending, it's just something that can happen easily (and something I experienced to a lesser extent, at first). But yeah, unfortunately I'm not gonna be in Japan for the next few months. I'll be returning in November though.

Nope. I live in Yokosuka, but as of right now I have a fairly busy schedule and don't have much time for games. The time I do have is usually on short notice, so I don't waste any time in getting to Mikado. :P Thing is dude, it's really not that hard to meet people here. A little Japanese goes a long way, and even then, a good portion of fighting game players can speak at least a little English. Satou (as in the Johnny player) is damn near fluent, but even the players I've met that can't speak English can usually make out my broken, textbook Japanese. Hell, I even met another foreigner the first time I went to Mikado, lol. Stop being so nervous/self conscious and talk to people! Worst that can happen is you end up learning a little Japanese.
-
As of right now, it will be a free title update, yes. However, I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up charging 400 Microsoft bucks for it, since I'm sure the delay has been costly for them. That's just speculation, though.

This thread will explain the convoluted and unintuitive process of registering an Aime card and joining the Guilty Gear Player's Guild. This info will only be of any use to you if you ever find yourself in Japan. First and foremost, let me explain what an Aime card is. Here in Japan, people love their IC cards. So much, that damn near any transaction in or around a train station can be completed by swiping an IC card. These are similar to the magnetic cards used for arcade games (most people in the US will know them from Initial D and Wangan Midnight: Maximum Tune), except that instead of inserting the card into a reader, all you have to do is put it up to a scanner. You don't even have to take it out of your wallet! What makes an Aime card special is that it's designed to work with pretty much every current arcade game that supports IC cards. Aime is made by Sega, but, recently, it's become almost entirely interchangeable with Namco's competing service, Bana Passport. However, at least as far as I know, GGXXAC+R only supports Aime. This is due to the fact that the GG Player's Guild requires a Sega ID. Which used to be separate from an Aime ID, but is now the same thing. See how this can get real confusing real fast? Before we get started with registering an Aime card, you first have to buy one. Most arcades will either have a machine dedicated to selling Aime cards, or you can get them from cabinets that are designed to sell them. Either way, it'll cost you 300円. Now that you have an Aime card, it's time to register it. This can be done at the Aime website. Thankfully, for those of us who aren't fluent in Japanese, there is an English version of the site that's just as functional as the Japanese version. You'll be prompted for your access code, which is the number on the back of your Aime card, and then it'll have you tie the card and account to your e-mail address. After that, you create your Sega ID (which is the same thing as an Aime ID, but not all Aime ID's are Sega ID's? I dunno lol). At this point, you're done with anything involving the Aime website. You wouldn't know this if I didn't tell you, however, because nothing on the site indicates that you're able to do, well, much of anything. You can look at your game history and add another card to your account, but as far as the Aime website is concerned, that's pretty much it. What you're looking for now is the GG Player's Guild. I mean, unless you actually want your name to show up as GG PLAYER. I know this site is straight out of 1998, but bear with me here. We're almost done. Click the login button, enter your Sega ID and password, and log in. You'll then be greeted by a bunch of crap you don't give a shit about, as well as the link to your profile (spelled in Katakana "プロフィール"). Click on that. You'll then see a bunch of empty fields and a link right below them. That first field is where your name is. Click on the link next to it to change your name. I guess it costs 200W$ to change your name after you initially set it, but you get W$ even when you lose so it's whatever. Then click on the button below that, then go back to the previous page. Remember that link at the bottom of those empty fields? Click on that. Now, you'll see a dropdown menu and two text fields. The dropdown menu is asking for your gender. If you're a dude, choose the second one. If you're a chick (fat chance), choose the third one. If you don't know/care, choose the fourth one. The first text field is asking for your birthday. Enter it in YYYYMMDD format with no dashes or slashes. Also, if you're a huge weeaboo and want to enter your birthday using the Japanese calendar, guess what it doesn't let you OWNED The second text field is the fun part. That's the comment that'll show up every time you start a match. Be sure to have a really good comment so the guy you're playing will be too busy laughing to concentrate on playing. Once you're done with all of this, click the button at the bottom, and then on the next page, click the button on the left. Congrats! You're finally done. If you want to look at your statistics against certain characters, that's what the bottom two dropdown fields are for. If you can't read Katakana, I suggest you learn how to. Otherwise, this won't be of much use to you. Questions/Comments/Concerns? Post em here!

Jonio's uploading last night's 3v3 as I type this. http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm21017089 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm21017215 (me @ 2:20) http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm21017272

Just wait for +R. It's worth it.
-
Didn't see A2 there. Lots of 3S and +R though. And Rainbow Edition.
-
I'll elaborate more on this later, but I think this matchup has changed quite a bit in +R.
-
PS360+ > MCC. Automatically detects between PS3 and 360, requires zero soldering or extra PCBs, and it's tiny. Also, Mikado is the happiest place on earth.

Johnny has links? Could've fooled me. I'd say Johnny is slightly more demanding than the average GG character due to stuff like MSDJ and JI KJ combos. For the most part, though, Johnny isn't that bad. Basic air combos (KSKSDE and the like) do plenty of damage, and once you learn more advanced stuff you can increase your damage output even more. Enkasu isn't that hard for the most part, either. The few links Johnny does have mostly involve Mist Canceling HS normals at Level 3/on counter hit, but that's all getting 1F easier in +R. You have great taste in characters, OP.

I'm willing to bet that the main reason +R isn't out yet is due to MS/Sony's procedures with how they handle title updates. Chances are, they have to resubmit the game each time it gets updated or something like that. The Vita release is actually a good sign, since it shows that the game is ready. It may or may not also be an underhanded way of making sure the Vita port sells at all by making it the only option available for awhile. Hopefully, we won't have to wait much longer. Given ArcSys' proven track record of meeting their deadlines, I would give them the benefit of the doubt.

Chances are, you don't understand Guilty Gear's system well enough to even know what to look for in a character. And that's fine! Most people don't when they first start playing. Go watch the Guilty Bits videos on YouTube to get an idea of how each character is supposed to be played. That should help give you some perspective for the next time you play.

Yes. 5K (8) 5HS -> KJFRC -> j.SKSDE. Or, you can learn how to buffer j.H so it comes out right after the FRC, and you can start doing stuff like j.HD -> land -> High Mist Finer. You can do a standard KJFRC from transport -> land -> c.S -> whatever. Or you can wavedash -> 5/6H (depending on distance) -> coin -> High Mist Finer. It can be useful for midscreen unblockables, but you're gonna have to FRC Bacchus Sigh for best results. I'd only go for it if I had at least 50% tension.

Most of the GG forums could use some active mods. But they could also use some activity.
