  1. Video example of retaining JI via canceling landing recovery with a jump cancelable move: Even if this isn't technically news, the way it's explained in the guide should be revised. "For some strange reason" should never be part of what's supposed to be a comprehensive guide, anyways.
  2. I wasn't feeling any of that, but apology accepted, broham. Melty round robin could probably work, but it really seems like interest for the game is at an all time low right now. I haven't been actively paying attention to entry numbers or anything, but those who have will probably tell you the same thing.
  3. I for one would argue that, for the most part, AC has been "figured out" for quite some time now. It's not that you never see anything new anymore, but the optimal styles of play for each character have been known for over two years now. While there may be some new things popping up every so once in awhile, the game hasn't drastically changed since 2009. There's really nothing wrong with that as Guilty Gear is a good enough game to play without having to constantly (key word here) discover new things. As you put it, games that are "flavor of the month" (gratuitous use of quotation marks ITT) are all the rage nowadays, and they're fostering a breed of fighting game player that gets bored of any game that isn't constantly changing. The motivation here isn't necessarily to get good at the game, rather to discover some TOP TIER TECH THAT NOBODY'S SEEN YET and blow people up at tournaments. I think Marvel 3 is the worst offender in that regard. Is discovering new stuff fun? Oh hell yes. Is it the reason you play fighting games? It shouldn't be.
  4. I have never claimed to be the Grand Duke of Poverty, just a poverty enthusiast.
  5. Lost in translation? I mean that you shouldn't have to play a game for only as long as it has that "new game smell". Having an unrestrictive system like Guilty Gear's is one thing, but only playing a game for the sake of discovering new stuff is another thing entirely. I agree with your point, but that wasn't what I was saying.
  6. I have a Sega Saturn and games you've never even heard of.
  7. You shouldn't have to be constantly discovering new things in order to enjoy a game. Maybe that's what Capcom and Namco are trying to sell these days, but it says a lot about a game if people drop it as soon as it's "figured out".
  8. We don't play on anything else.
  9. PS2. Saturday is probably gonna be the best day for GG.
  10. Oh neat, I get to fight a competent Potemkin. I need to replace my stick before then, though.
  11. Just wanted to say that the GG stream was incredible. Kusoru is my hero. <3
  12. For what it's worth, I'll shoot off my own matchup chart. Summaries will come in due time. 5.5-4.5: Anji, Order-Sol 5-5: Baiken, May, I-No, Robo-Ky, Sol 4.5-5.5: ABA, Axl, Bridget, Chipp, Dizzy, Eddie, Jam, Slayer 4-6: Faust, Ky, Potemkin 3.5-6.5: Testament, Millia 3-7: Venom 2.5-7.5: Zappa
  13. A+ post If we run poverty (GG+MB) on Saturday it can finish early, even if people show up on Norcal Standard Time. BB, Gundam and KOF take a lot of time, so they should either be two day games or Sunday only games. It just seems like the best thing to do. Plus, people interested in Sunday games can get some casuals in since GG/MB don't use those setups. Getting casuals in during a tournament is usually pretty hard at Gamecenter, since most if not all of the setups are dedicated to tournaments.
  14. I don't see why it'd be necessary for them to change the game to make it playable online. Even in games like Blazblue, netplay isn't the same as offline play; but if you think that's what netplay needs to be then you're missing the point. The goal of any developer trying to implement online play should be to get it as close to offline play as possible; the goal of online players should be to utilize the opportunity to get matchup experience you don't normally get, while keeping in mind that you should test everything out once you're done playing online to make sure you aren't implementing sub-optimal tactics. For either party to think of it as a substitute for offline play is just foolish. Anyways, I'm confident Arcsys won't fuck this port up, because they're Arcsys and they're like that. I have my hopes up.
  15. If people want to play a game that was made for netplay, they have plenty of other choices. Guilty Gear is an old game from old times, and changing that is going to end up alienating everyone. I do think they should implement some sort of advance input to compensate for the inherent input lag of the PS3/360 (though they may have another, better solution to it we just don't know about yet), but past that there shouldn't be any changes to input windows or buffers. As it is, AC has the best (read: intelligent; forgiving when you need it to be, accurate when you need it to be) command interpreter of any GG, and arguably of any fighting game period. I really hope this port is at the same speed as the arcade version, since that alone would make AC much more manageable, online and off.
  16. Do you still play GG, Stunedge? I'd love to play a Ky that doesn't yell at me to get off his lawn.
  17. How's the weather in 2007?
  18. Hakumen has pressure and mixup most like Slayer, but a neutral game most like Johnny/Ky.
  19. Keeping the game the same is also good, but I wouldn't mind a few minor changes.
  20. Make Zappa's dog less retarded, make Forward Beast slightly - on normal block, give auto-JI to the moves that actually need it.
  21. It was just me, Philip and Sam; but, sometimes that's not a bad thing. Made me realize just how bad I am at fighting Millia with Johnny. That's what happens when you don't play a matchup for three years, lol.
  22. Usually, 4.20 is something worth celebrating.
  23. Who's gonna be there today? I can actually come for once, lol.
  24. Sounds like you're going way too fast. Make sure you're hitting P/K/S before H, then once you consistently get the input you can try to do it faster.
