  1. To answer a question that was asked twice at the beginning of the thread: The information listed for BBCSII Location Test 2 is relative to BBCSII Location Test 1. These changes are not relative to the BBCS base game. To get the idea of what BBCSII Location Test 2 feels like, check information from BBCSII Location Test 1 and compare the two lists. Location Test 1 Information can be found [here].
  2. @atdsutm - The information listed for BBCSII Location Test 2 is relative to BBCSII Location Test 1. These changes are not relative to the BBCS base game. To get the idea of what BBCSII Location Test 2 feels like, check information from BBCSII Location Test 1 and compare the two lists. Location Test 1 Information can be found [here]. [edit] Apparently, Location Tests 3 and 4 will be held over the next two weekends. I propose a cease and desist on Google Translate posts in the news thread because: 1) They're ugly as sin. 2) At best, their inaccuracy is unintelligible; at worst, it's misleading. 3) Dustloop's moonspeakers post accurate translations in a timely manner, obsoleting Google Translate results shortly after they're posted anyway. That is all. *dismounts high horse*
  3. I think today has been our most successful night all semester. Tons of good games to play, awesome matches, and ATL officially has a budding GG scene. Glad to be a part of it. [edit: stats] Attendees: 17 Games Streamed: BBCS, GGAC Other Games: SSFIV, SFIII:3S Setups: 5 (2 PS3, 2 PS2, 1 X360) Stream Viewers: ~43 Stream Followers: +4
  4. @FunkyP - When are you coming down? I have the PS2 + GGAC + SFIII:3rd Strike covered. If we need an extra TV, pick me up at my apartment and I'll bring mine. Also - who are you, Kazz? I'm from Columbus.
  5. I won't be starting early. My work shift is from 7-10pm; I'll catch up to you when I clock out.
  6. @Kentiah - God I know the feeling. Ask Pachirisu. :P @FunkyP - For reasons I don't understand, I've been exploring the man's combo options into the early morning. I think it's safe to say that I have a tertiary character now.
  7. @AtTheGates: Best I could get last night was -6B(1) > 5C > 9 > j.214B > D > [w] j.236A > (cross) > j.236B > j.236A > C > D > j.C > j.236236C = 4141 dmg, ~28% meter gain. Costs 50% meter. Starting with 5B would do slightly less damage due to proration. [edit] Using j.214B early prevents Valk from extending the combo with it later, cutting off a useful combo tool and a good bit of damage potential. In the corner, 2C > j.214B can do 4.3K meterless, but I'd be surprised if I saw this setup do more than 5K midscreen.
  8. Some stuff I didn't see above: 2A - chains into itself on hit or block. I can get six reps in a row on Ragna before he gets pushed too far away (only five reps on block). 5B - gatlings into 6C on hit or block; doesn't combo. 2C - gatlings into 6B on hit or block; will combo. 6C - links into 2A, 5B, 5C, 2C on hit; if you link 6C on normal block into 5B, the 5B hits fast enough to punish Ragna's jab, which has 5 frames of startup (like most, if not all, of the other characters' jabs). Possible trap tool. 3C - links into 2A, 2B, 2C, 3C on hit. Silly Observation - Valk can combo into j.214B repeatedly for an aerial loop in the corner. j.214B has some serious (~10%) same-move proration to stop it from being useful though.
  9. Valk will probably retail for $8 on PSN. @Daysoo - Tried BBCS online tonight. First match lagged by at least 12 frames, then the match finder couldn't locate a buddy for me after another 10 minutes. Terribad, even with no laptop hooked up. Edit: This is BBCS on PSN. My choice to play only opponents on Signal 4 might have had something to do with it. I have no personal experience with BBCS on XBL.
  10. Valkenhayn releases tonight. If you're the "try-before-you-buy" type, I'll bring my PS3 to the next gathering.
  11. @FunkyP: That is correct, sir. @Tim: Thank you for your suggestion. I'll see what I can do with it by next Friday.
  12. @FunkyP - since you're ordering parts, can you get 30-40 quick disconnects for me? I can pay you back cash on Friday. Also, I work at Tech Rec from 10pm-2am this Friday. I'll probably chill with the crew til work starts and come back after I clock out..
  13. *IMPORTANT THING* http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-september-16-2010/rally-to-restore-sanity (video announcement) Who wants to go? *Alternatively* http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/359382/september-16-2010/march-to-keep-fear-alive (video announcement)
  14. Update: IP requirement is a lie. We're watching SBO right now. Everybody get in here!
  15. Need Japanese credit card - Myth BUSTED. I have successfully purchased 1500 Nico Points using an American Visa card. This is about $18 USD, so if attendees to the meeting could help with the cost, I would greatly appreciate it. Need Japanese IP - Myth Unconfirmed. The Nico site said nothing about blocking foreign IP addresses or needing to live in Japan to view the stream. Either way, we can get a proxy if the need arises. Partial stream - Myth confirmed. The Nico article mentioned that some tournaments are being conducted simultaneously, so all matches cannot be broadcast. HOWEVER, they directly state that the Finals matches of ALL games will be broadcast. Stream opens 20 minutes before the tournaments (8:40pm Georgia time) begin. Please be at Klaus at 8:00pm so we can set up early.
  16. I registered a Nico account and have been exploring their "ticket" purchasing system for the SBO stream. The "ticket" needs to be purchased via "Nico Points", sort of like Nintendo or Microsoft points in that they can only be purchased in fixed amounts. Luckily, 500-point denominations are available, and the ticket costs 1500 even. To purchase Nico points, a Visa/Mastercard can be used. Several Japanese-only electronic purchasing services are also available, including some I've never seen before. I made it to the screen that asks for my card number and expiration date without any trouble. What remains to be seen is whether my Visa will work, or whether it needs to be registered with Visa-Asia's "3D Security" service that's mentioned in Nico's Q&A. The Visa site requires you to choose the bank/service that issued your card to register for "3D Security," and my American bank (Suntrust) is conspicuously absent from their list of choices. I'm going to try later and post results.
  17. So, [about this]... (it's in Moonspeak) Tougeki will be broadcasting a live stream this year on 9/18 and 9/19. For $15 per day, or $25 for both days, we can watch it on Nico Nico Douga. Day 1 consists of BBCS, GGAC, MBAA, KoFXIII, and VF5:FS. The tournaments are scheduled to begin on 9/18 at 10:00am Japan Time, or 9/17 at 9pm Georgia-time. This is right on the mark for our Friday night gathering. Remember that visual equipment we have access to? The ones that make really big pictures move on the wall? Now you're thinking what I'm thinking. 3S is the only game on Day 2 we'd be interested in watching, but we'll be at Revival anyway. Who DOESN'T want to pool $15 and get hype on SBO? I am so ready for this.
  18. Compilation of all Valkenhayn information for Location Test 1 from the September 13 entry of the blog we've been plundering. Valkenhayn *General Info* -Health - 10k -Guard Primers - 4 -Moves that take Guard Primer - 6C, 236C, j.214B -Fatal Counter - 6B, 6C -Drive: Wehrwolf. Switches between human and wolf form. The Wolf Gauge drains while in wolf form and refills while in human form. Wolf form cannot be used if the Wolf Gauge is empty. *Notes* -doesn't dash, hops forward like Hakumen. -good at Wolf mode follow-up combos -cannot crouch or block in Wolf mode -does not automatically turn around in Wolf mode - must hit left or right to change direction. Since he can't block, hitting back just keeps him moving while away from the opponent -cannot throw, so he relies on command throw. May be unable to throw-reject as well. [note: video suggests otherwise] -Moves done during wolf mode are marked with a [w] *Normals* 5A, 2A - small punches 5B - kick 2B - low kick 6A - does a knee kick while posing his arm. Startup is considerably fast, but there's a pretty big gap. Feels like it should be used for anti-air. 6B - not a mid. has vaccuum effect, hits twice. Forces opponent to crouch on FC. 5C - ridiculously long kick; reaches far 6C - flying kick; hits mid ; feet invincible; takes a guard primer; no disadvantages even on guard; Fatal Counter; on FC, he can transform to cancel it and go into a wolf-mode combo. Strong fundamental element of Valkenhayn's game. This move beats characters who don't have reversals all by itself. 2C - anti-air kick; fast startup; this is a bullshit good move. 3C - knockdown kick j.A, j.B - par for the course, fairly ordinary. j.C - foot/leg transforms into its wolf form and kicks directly downward; range is ridiculous; even Slayer would be surprised how good this is. [w]A - low hit, claw swipe [w]B - stabs upward; head invincible [w]j.A - claw swipe [w]j.B - tail attack; knocks opponent toward ground on air hit backstep (backdash) - long distance; excellent counter assault - reach is quite long; excellent *Specials* Nacht Jäger - Night Hunter (236A) - Tackle. Long duration on hit [author remarks that it feels like 5 minutes] Nacht Rosen - Night Roses (236C) - Upper[cut]. Hits mid. Can combo after 5C on crouching opponents. Schwarz Jagd - Black Hunt (236B) - Low kick. Hits low. -> Weiß Jagd - White Hunt (236B) - follow-up to Black Hunt. Strong kick that knocks opponent away. Can follow up with a combo. Mondlicht - Moonlight (j.214B) - High kick. Kicks opponent straight up. Untechable time is considerably long. Can do Aerial > moonlight > 5C > aerial, etc. This move is bullshit strong. Rasen Wolf - Rushing Wolf ([w]C) - Wolf rush. Can choose direction using joystick. Wolf gauge decreases quickly while using. Can cancel during charge with other moves, hitting C returns Valk to neutral, hitting D transforms him back to human form. Run away, run away! lololol Geschwind Wolf - Quick Wolf - (D during a human form attack) - cancels into transformation. Uses a considerable amount of gauge. König Wolf - King Wolf ([w]236/A/B) - Wolf assault charge. A attacks horizontally, B charges diagonally upward. Cancels into itself - can do three in a row. Eisen Wolf - Iron Wolf ([w]j.214A/B) - Wolf raid. Rushes diagonally down-forward and lands. Angle differs slightly between A and B versions. Himmel Wolf - Sky Wolf ([w]236D) - Wolf bite. Scary 1-hit command throw, 2300 damage. Can be followed up. *Supers and Astral* Sturm Wolf - Storm Wolf (632146D) - Like Chipp's Zanseirouga. Does all hits even on guard. Every hit is an overhead. König Flug - King Flight (j.236236C) - Slayer's Chokkagata Dandy. Transforms at the end. For combos that work even on downed opponents. Astral Heat [no name] (214214214D) - launches opponent, transforms, and slashes repeatedly with the moon in the background. (Credit to caelk for minor clarifications, Suzaku for the Specials' names and the Drive description, and JinSaotome for the bit about facing left and right in Wolf mode.)
  19. Some more Twitter posts. *Rachel: CH 2C, 1D, 6A, Lilly, j.2C lvl3 bounce, summon George, 3C(1), Sword Iris, 6C, j.C, land, j.C, j.C, A-Lobelia = 5350 damage. *Lambda: 5DD > Blade connects; 5D and 5DD appear slower. There are plenty more twitter posts if anyone wants to translate. http://twitter.com/ushidonburi. Do not follow. Just translate. 3rd blog post now up, "Character Impressions" - http://generalnantoka.blog35.fc2.com/blog-entry-372.html EDIT - tomorrow's the last day of . Expect more information.
  20. Blog2 Updates http://generalnantoka.blog35.fc2.com/blog-entry-371.html Ragna -2D can't be followed up by 2B. -Berial Edge does shit for damage when used in combo -Opponent falls too quickly and too far away after Gauntlet Hades to catch with any follow-ups. Jin: [no new info] Noel: -B-silencer's range is shorter -C-silencer's recovery is increased -both changes are very slight; likely nothing to worry about. Rachel: -6A has returned to it's CT version. Taokaka's eyes fill with tears. -Wind increases the speed of her air dashes -j.A > j.2C won't connect, but j.B > j.2C does. -j.2C can be JC'd on ground hit. Tager: -6A starts up faster -6A can be charged -6A has super armor -6A can't be JC'd? Will test later. Taokaka: [no new info] Arakune: [no new info] Litchi: -4D causes slide effect even on air hit -4D can be followed up by 2D midscreen into dashing 6C. -Is 2C into 4D a stable combo? -2C > 4D, Haku > Chuu > Hatsu, A-Reach > Ippatsu > on-staff B, 6B > D > j.C > D-returns > land > 6C > Itsuu-C > aerial finisher (3700 dmg) -however, if the staff isn't placed in front after 4D, the combo is no good. Also drops combo in the corner if 2C's hitbox sinks into the edge of the screen? Will confirm later. -As always, if you're doing a corner combo, 2C > 4D > haku > chuu > 5B > 6C(1) > 623D > hatsu > ippatsu > on-staff B > etc. will work. -6B[m] and j.C[m] knock opponent backward, but don't wall bounce even on counter hit -6C[m]'s spin staggers, can just barely combo afterwards in the corner. -All Green super is techable on air hit. Bang -6B is techable on ground hit -623B, j.623B do give a small wall bounce if done near the corner. -2C is techable on ground hit (as previously noted), but FRKZ's 2C will knock down. Carl -j.B's untechable timing is shorter? Need to confirm this later. Hakumen -j.D's animation can be cancelled late into specials; will test to see if he can also cancel into ground specials. Lambda -using Gravity Field A at the start of the round, it takes until 85 counts on the timer to fully disappear? Is this a little late? -4D cannot be JC'd. This was just a rumor. Tsubaki -j.D's recovery speed hasn't changed (as previously noted, it's gauge gain has increased) -Tsubasa (wings) hits mid -can combo after throws in corner with 6C Hazama -Ouroboros' speed has decreased. Honestly, this doesn't really change anything. Makoto [no new info] Valkenhayn -6B has vaccuum effect, hits twice. Not a mid -6C has Fatal Counter; can transform after an FC hit and pick up the combo. *Valkenhayn specials list* (thank you, Capn, for the names.) [note: wolf-mode moves will be indicated with a [w]] -Nacht Jäger - Night Hunter (236A) - Tackle. Long duration on hit [author remarks that it feels like 5 minutes] -Nacht Rosen - Night Roses (236C) - Upper[cut]. Hits mid. Can combo after 5C on crouching opponents. -Schwartze Jagd - Black Hunt (236B) - Low kick. Hits low. -Weiße Jagd - White Hunt (236B) - follow-up to Black Hunt. Strong kick that knocks opponent away. Can follow up with a combo. -Mondlicht - Moonlight (j.214B) - High kick. Kicks opponent straight up. Untechable time is considerably long. Can do Aerial > moonlight > 5C > aerial, etc. This move is bullshit strong. -Rasen Wolf - Frenzied Wolf ([w]C) - Wolf rush. Can choose direction using joystick. Wolf gauge decreases quickly while using. Can cancel during charge with other moves, hitting C returns Valk to neutral, hitting D transforms him back to human form. Run away, run away! -Geschwinde Wolf - Quick Wolf (D during a Human mode special) - cancels into transformation. Uses a considerable amount of gauge. -König Wolf - King Wolf ([w]236A/B) - Wolf assault charge. A attacks horizontally, B charges diagonally upward. Cancels into itself - can do three in a row. -Eisen Wolf - Iron Wolf ([w]j.214A/B) - Wolf raid. Rushes diagonally down-forward and lands. Angle differs slightly between A and B versions. -Himmel Wolf - Sky Wolf ([w]236D) - Wolf bite. Scary 1-hit command throw, 2300 damage. Can be followed up. -Stürm Wolf - Storm Wolf (632146D) - Like Chipp's Zanseirouga. Does all hits even on guard. Every hit is an overhead. -König Flucht - King Flight (j.236236C) - Slayer's Chokkagata Dandy. Transforms at the end. For combos that work even on downed opponents. -Astral Heat [no name] (214214214D) - launches opponent, transforms, and slashes repeatedly with the moon in the background.
  21. Rush-translating some ushidonburi twitter posts until I go to bed. This is going to be updated upon the arrival of new information until maybe 5:00am EDST. [He makes a few posts to say characters he wants to play today. I'm skipping those.] *I give my heart to Tsubaki players. Tsubasa (wings) hits mid. *The rumors surrounding Lambda are probably nonsense. 4D can't be jump-cancelled. Aside from [Zwei] Blade being slowed down slightly, she doesn't seem to have changed. *Litchi's 3C[m] can be tech'd; 6B[m] doesn't wall bounce even on counter-hit. *Litchi's All-Green super can be tech'd on air hit; poor girl. *Fall after Gauntlet Hades is faster; follow-up doesn't make it in time [i'm guessing this means the opponent falls too quickly after Gauntlet to combo]. 2D can't even be followed up with 2B. *Litchi can follow up 4D with 2D. If she's near the wall, she can pick them up with 6C, and 6C[m]'s spin can just barely follow it up if you're in a corner. *Litchi's 4D connects after 2C! If she's somewhat close to the wall, 2D will follow-up, and if she's at the corner, Haku (3-Dragons: white) will connect. *Makoto's Big Bang Smash still has 1600 minimum damage; no change. j.B still has a long untechable time on counter hit; no change. Makoto doesn't seem to have changed much. *Berial Edge, outside of use in combos as a low-grade lock, does shit for damage. Someone else figure it out. *Litchi combo in corner: 2C > Haku > Chuu > Hatsu, A-Reach > Ippatsu > on-staff B, 6B > D > j.C > D-returns > land > 6C > Itsuu-C > aerial finisher (3700 dmg) *Hakumen can special-cancel after j.D for follow-ups WTF!
  22. I have my BBCS + PS3 + micro-CRT as well. Looks like we're good on equipment. I'm gonna be stopping by Dragon*Con at 5pm to meet some friends from out-of-town. No telling how long I'll be there, but since our gatherings usually go 'til 3am, I doubt I'll miss the whole thing.
  23. Bad News: Tech Rec doesn't have a written policy for "Bring Your Own Stuff", but bringing your own TV, for now, means you have to pay as if you were playing on their stuff. Reason being that the money is more for use of the space than the actual equipment, which doesn't have a constant upkeep cost that I'm aware of. Good News: I just got hired at Tech Rec today. The manager, Jeff, is a really cool guy, and expressed HIGH interest in running proper gaming tournaments at Tech Rec when I asked him about the possibility. Nothing is written in stone at this point, but I'll take this chance to make Something Awesome happen. Unrelated News: Dragon*Con is this weekend and starts tomorrow. I would encourage anyone who IS going to Dragon*Con to attend the BBCS tournament on Sunday at 1 PM. Entry fee $5 and somebody's bound to win free money. [edit: site doesn't say if it's PS3 or 360. I'll try to find out by Sunday.] Final note: I see HUGE interest in a BB gathering Friday, and it makes me happy to see the BB scene come together. Let's put our heads together and solve our "location" issue. Regardless of Dragon*Con, I will try to attend the BBCS gathering.
  24. The projector and screen are in one of the buildings at GT ... a very LARGE building with LOTS of room. I'm going to use today to find out how we can get permission to use it, if permission is needed.
  25. We can use my apartment. My roomies are cool with it. BRING SARS masks... I have a slight cold. Edit: Discussed possibility of a NorCal Install Party with Pachirisu and Crushr for Saturday. Chips, snacks, projector to watch the stream, and a BB setup of our own. Anyone up for that?
