WTF. Also, those MvC3 cover 'shops are awesome. I found 2 things today. First, Sentinel's (Rocket Punch > Hyper Sentinel Force) x N loop from MvC2 still applies. Start with L-punch, then switch to M-punch for the last transition. Damage for 5 reps is OVER NINE (hundred) THOUSAND. Good news is it only works in corner, and Sent must be half-screen or closer. Did some work on Arthur's Goddess Bracelet loop too. Works if Arthur is half-screen or farther, opponent does not need to be cornered. Timing is awkward - even though you can buffer the 214 motion during the last few hits, you need to time the 2x button press to coincide with the dissolution of the super-freeze background, not the hit# counter. Also gets harder to do as the hits pile up, according to stun scaling formula that has yet to be nailed down. Successful (214 AA) x 5 deals 985,000 damage. Learning a lot more about Doom and Iron Man, really loving my team. Deadpool's a pain in the ass to approach. Looking forward to fighting Paul's famous Phoenix.

Went online with a friend today; god did I need the practice. Team has been refined to Wolverine/(Iron Man|Magneto)/Doom for several reasons. Ground characters' hitboxes are just enormous, which makes it harder than I expected to get in with airdashers. Super jump is nowhere near as good as in MvC2. I also benched Arthur and Sent for being brainless with X-factor. I learn nothing from playing with them, but maybe that's the point? Wolverine is a balance between fun and effective that I can get behind, and the remaining roster has yet to commit any criminal offenses against the Law of Don't Be a Dick. Lastly I added a lot of you on PSN. I promise I will not spam invites and will gladly accept any received. G'night for now.

I lol'd. Almost got me in trouble at work.

X-Factor values (speed buffs approximated; they'll work until SRK releases exact figures)- Level 1 - 10sec, dmg+50%, spd+10% Level 2 - 15sec, dmg+75%, spd+20% Level 3 - 20sec, dmg+120%, spd+30% Mixed news from the Stark Expo. No airdashes correct attack direction on cross-up, so even the alcoholic mastermind can't jump>airdash>L to get the cross. He can, however, enter Fly mode immediately before/after crossing up and do a short overhead string ending in S. Every crossup in the game gets better with a ranged assist, so I'm going to stop saying it now before it gets old. Also found a fly>unfly>OTG>super combo for the corner that uses 5 fierces before the OTG. The timing is tough without an OTG assist, so I'm not using it online. Team Villain (Wesker-OTG, Magneto-DISREPTAR, Doom-Missiles) became an unexpected addition to my pre-sets, I'd encourage people to try it out. Final random note, C. Viper has some nuts cross-up potential even without a Fly mode. airdash-df>H>assist>thunder knuckle>... works, but the spacing is quite restrictive. I'll post if I find anything useful for her over the next few days. P.S. As of [this post] and [this other post], I take back everything I said about MvC3's design.

@Deadguy: "Everything" probably isn't accurate, but so much of the game's identity feels designed with intent to address specific complaints/problems/demands (especially with respect to previous games) or draw attention to certain features. Whether the painting is beautiful is up to the viewer, but this artist laid his brush strokes with a visibly deliberate hand. From a design perspective at the very least, MvC3 feels solidly like it does what it was intended, and I guess that's what I was trying to say. Iron Man feels like the business right now. The j.(8|5|2)-H opens many combo possibilities even without going infinite. Tri-jump L doesn't whiff like Mag or Storm's - it chains into launcher on same-side or cross-up hit. Wavedash after advanced guard works pretty well too. Mr. Stark does OTG work for himself and his teammates with Smart Bomb, and Unibeam is safe on whiff from full-screen now. Pretty scary dude. Paired with Sentinel or a similar assist, he's a flexible point character that I won't get tired of any time soon. My only worry is his short-range normals (compared to Dante), but I play Taokaka, so... probably not that big of a deal. I'll eat my own words later if I have to. [double-edit] Damage scaling formulae [here] Catch everybody later.

Main team is: Iron Man/Arthur/Sentinel Alternates and possible replacements: Doom, Storm, Dante, Magneto, C.Viper, Trish This first team is an experiment to see how important the OTG assists are. I think it's a good idea to have character(s) on OTG assist if your point character can't OTG him/herself. If they're unnecessary, I'll bring in one or more of the alts for more pure aggro. Love the game so far. They really thought of everything. I'd like to hit that netplay if anyone's down this weekend.

@DoomyJ: From what I know, the Dickslicer tag belongs to SSJGeorgeBush, a super-strong player from Auburn, AL. The first time I saw him use the name was at a small SFIV tournament in Columbus, GA. His first opponent was a casual player who entered as ColdPenis. True story.

Hey everyone, just checking in. I'm gonna be busy getting some business settled this month, but I should be able to come up sometime in February. To do list: 1) Buy new car 2) File paperwork for new job (dollars get!) 3) Decide which game I'll be playing for Final Round, then practice. If we're gonna have a stream Friday, I'll see you there. I miss the hell out of ATL scene and I wish you all the best. ~Justin

This just in: Tokido is coming to Final Round. Also: Loving Eddie. He's so much fun. Venom's got new tricks too.
-
Curious about Tao's "[8D~A]xN" loop too. All this and more coming Spring 2011! I'm pretty hype for SSFIV:AE, that game is the business. Won't be here til June, plenty of time for BBCS2 to shine.

GG isn't dying just like that. I know at least two people are picking up new characters over break, and I'll be training Eddie while I'm down in Nowhere, GA. I will be buying a new car soon, which means I can come to gatherings about once per month. I am also definitely going to Final Round. Columbus' lack of local competition just gives me extra Lab time to study logistics. Keep the scene growing and stay strong. See you sometime in January.

I regret to inform the ATL community that I will not be returning to Georgia Tech. There isn't much to say on the matter. I figured I'd let you know before the weight of the news sets in and it becomes difficult to write. Thank you all for the good times. I'm sure we will meet again, just not sure when.

Played Tsurael last night waiting for the lunar eclipse, had a lot of fun with BBCS and SSF4. BB's netcode went to hell after 45 minutes (framerate collapsed every time someone attacked), but I'm grateful for the human competition more than anything else. Want to do this again. I'll post up/call around next time I play online.

Home for break, practicing Magic: The Gathering for Grand Prix Atlanta. Testing group doesn't meet as regularly as I'd hoped, so I'm a little bored right now. Learning Eddie in GGAC, but haven't played a human opponent since last Friday. If anyone wants to net-match in SSFIV or BBCS, hit me up here (in advance) or phone me. I'm up til 1am just about every night. Hope everyone is doing well. Have a wonderful holiday.

I'm about to get a lot more social after 2:30pm today. Last final at 11:30am! Wish me luck, flawless recall, and perhaps minor powers of divination. Reptar, I will not be here for Friday night. If you want to hang out and play video games during the week, however, I will be available anytime. -
蛇刃牙 = 236D 残影牙 = 214D-C 牙砕衝 = 236C

Taokaka (continued): - 3C cannot be canceled into Dancing Edge at all. - 4BC cannot be canceled into 236CC. - 2C no longer a fatal counter. Must be max-charge version to FC. + 2C bends opponent backward, allowing it to combo into 6C. + 2C (max-charge) causes FC if used mid-combo. 3C > RC > 2C (max) might work in corner. + j.2D and j.8D are better, very easy to connect with. + somebody landed j.A after 4DB. + 3C(2) > 236CC works!? * one anon feels they turned Tao into a throw character. Damage off throws averages in the upper 3000's. Possible to extend to 4000 with j.B? * something about 22C's startup being interesting. Dunno what to make of this. * 4DB (whiff) > j.A > 5B > 6A > ... ~= 2200 dmg. Too far away for a 3C combo. * j.B also works. By that same route, damage is about the same, but dash-5B may allow a 3C combo (to be tested) * 2A>5B>3C>236CC>2D6>J2DC>J2DA>J8D>JD6>JC>J8D6>J2D6>j.236B(5) ~= 2800 dmg * 3C > 236A works on some characters. Another anon says you need to use a dashing 3C, and that 6A > 5DB will work if 3C > 236A doesn't. * mid-screen 2A > 5B > 3C > 236A won't work on Noel, Tsubaki, Makoto, or Carl. TBD on others. *Dash-5B > 3C is speculated to work on everyone but has yet to be tested. * Hazama, Tsubaki, Litchi, Carl, Noel, Rachel, and Jin can only be 6C'd once in AB2 enders. Everyone else can be 6C'd twice. * 5B>6A>5DB > ... leads to ~2900 damage * Corner combos off 3C > AB2 may be able to go over 5500dmg using hj.236B(5), and still leave enough AB2 meter for oki. * j.B useful for extending combos at times when j.C > 8D would be too difficult.

Taokaka: - Dancing Edge's hitstop feels terrible (longer than before). - 6A and 2D have both become terribly weak as anti-airs. - 2C fatal > 6C no longer wall bounces. Instead it does that new mini wall-bounce. - 4D's untechable timing has been reduced. - j.236B(6) doesn't connect on Arakune? Source is unsure. - j.C (CH)'s untechable time has been slightly reduced. - Rachel's 6A beats Dancing Edge pretty solidly now. + Air dash speed seems faster. + 6A seems to hit crouching opponents. + 236236D's proration seems more lenient. 236236D > 5C > j.A > j.C works. + j.D may be able to combo standing opponents. + 5B, 5C are air unblockable. 5C's reach makes it somewhat useful. + j.C (CH) > 6C DOES work. Does that mini wall-bounce in the corner. Follow-ups appear possible. * some jBBS anon has pledged to research knockdown combos. Hope he succeeds. * j.C > 2A > 2A > 5B > 3C > AB2 > combo works. * forward throw > 4D works in corner * One Tao player is relatively high on the Nessica PSR Rankings. His max damage field is listed as 5500. * The highest-ranked Tao on Nessica PSR is #137 at the time of this writing. * 4DB > j.A may work. Source was unsure. * 214D auto-corrects the way Tao faces. Sucks if she ends up facing the wrong way though. * 5B > 6A > 2DB > air dash > j.C > j.D6 > j.C > j.8D6 > j.236B(1) > j.2D6 > j.236B(5) ~= 2500 dmg. Feels like there's room for extension. * ... > 2D > j.D6 > j.C > j.8D6 > j.2DC > j.C > j.8D6 > j.2D > 236B(5) does about the same amount. * air to air seems about the same. * damage off 4BC is around 2500-2700 so far, 6BC and j.BC lead to around 3600. These numbers may increase. * 5DB has frame advantage on hit. Hoping it can combo into something. * AB2 combo has been discovered: 3C > AB2 > 6C > 6C > [8 > J236B] x3. Does not work against Tager. Some anon claims that Tao's taunt damage has been increased tenfold. I'm not sure whether to believe that it does 1000 dmg, so let's wait to confirm it. That's all the Tao news for the moment. [edit]: XDest has also translated some Tao JBBS info [here]. Anybody interested can compare the two lists for completion.

Friendly reminder that BBCS2 hits Japanese arcades this Friday. Expect loads of information/videos over the weekend, and enough of knee-jerk reactions to break the shins of every man, woman, and child in China. -

GamingArena sounds awesome - glad the scene is showing signs of growth. I need a ride, but can provide equipment. *Fingers crossed that GG gets more spotlight.*
