Watching the OCV against Shoot's team was an amazing spectacle. Watching the OCV in the finals against Lime Key was painful.

PS3 was a single gift from about 4 different people. I'm not actively loaded. ........but I do understand what you're saying about getting a practice stick. I'll think about it. Still though, I'm one of those guys who would just generally prefer pad to stick, and not just for fighters but for pretty much everything that operates in 2D.

Thank you for the late Christmas Present. TO AWESOME!

Not enough available arcades, so really the lack of console release is hindering the switch for me. It costs more money for me than most because I've always played pad and can't do stick maneuvers to save my life(seriously, I hate watching matches where I die just because I can't correctly execute a 623 or a 41236/63214 on the ground without accidentally jumping first, which especially sucks when you have a Litchi that can't properly do Tsubame Gaeshi against the pressure Carl). This is big for me because I'm not made of money, and again I can just play Guilty Gear Accent Core OR Melty Blood Act Cadenza OR Arcana Heart OR if I'm incredibly desperate Marvel vs Capcom 2, all for free on my PS3. Hell, Brawl is free, but maybe it falls under the same line of "free" that Maple Story does. "You can, but why would you want to?"

Just wait, next game he'll probably have "Energy Boomerang Fans" An Anji Buster would be nice, but I'm curious to see what would happen if they gave him Jackhound.:8/:

I generally find 5D more intuitive as an Anti-Air autoguard. As for negative edging it, I think I've only made the mistake of D follow up once, and have successfully pulled of P follow up in real match scenario at least 100 times, mostly on Order Sol and Slayer at that I do agree that because of bad recovery it's not optimal, but it's still consist enough if you practice with it. Plus, the directionally free autoguard does come in handy when fighting opponents who tend to switch direction or just come straight down (like say May).

Like Klaige pointed out, 6K is probably the most reliable autoguard for the most part, but do not limit yourself to just that. Don't forget about 6S, 6H, and also 5D (which I use a lot and it works incredibly well.) Anji's autoguards are good but always be aware of the opponent you are playing against and what you are sure they will do to you, otherwise you end up taking bad risks with even worse punishments. As far as I can tell just from watching matches and playing plenty of my own, the difference between 6K versus something like 6S is staggering. 6K feels like an autoguard attack, while 6S feels more like a zoning attack and overall excellent attack that happens to conveniently have autoguard attached to it. 6K is usually all about retaliation, while 6S is more about plowing through the attack and doesn't usually need a followup. So, yeah, get acquainted with more of the autoguard moves, find which ones are appropriate for which situations, and your game will certainly get more nasty. Also, never throw 6K in the middle of a block string unless you are baiting their reversal, which even then is horribly risky.

Question: Is it possible to snuff out/cancel a single hit projectile with either hit of tsubame-gaeshi? Might be good to know for the Jin's that rush after an ice missile.
-
Well, out of curiousity, when does the autoguard officially end? Is it based on a set amount of time, or is it the moment the staff uncoils? If it's a set amount of time, then releasing it faster would be the way to go in many cases, either way it looks like one of the best anti-airs in the game.

Starting matches with half life combos with Anji is hilarious.

Okay question: I recently started playing against someone who has the most inhuman reversal throwing I've ever seen, and he almost always throws me after any Fuujin followup (assuming he blocked that far). Not entirely sure how to play someone who can destroy Fuujin followups so easily. Granted, I'm still beating him with well placed Fuujins and Autoguards, but I have to practically abandon the pressure game for a random damage game now, and it's killing me. Any suggestions? EDIT: Specifically, the following tends to happen: K - it's about 50/50, he throws me about half the time before I can throw him. Usually based on good timing and luck of the draw. P - either blocks and rushes, or somehow SJ's into airgrab (which is just plain scary for me) S - Blocks, rushes, throws. Can't escape unless I RC (cause I'm not good enough to FRC that one yet) H - Grabs me before it hits FB - Same, but I hit about 40-50% of the time due to speed. Granted, he still blocks it about 60% of those times.
-
I'm assuming you had the smarts to actually release the coil and interrupt, right? Or would you get hit before you could reach?
-
I'd imagine K stomp would be equally as effective if you needed to cover more distance, simply because once Slidehead is active it doesn't stop until completely finished (although your timing might need to be a bit faster). I suppose if you wanted to humiliate your opponent horribly and waste 50% you could try TK Orb RC --> 5P, On; but that's just somewhat silly. Bah, it's all about Cirno.

[CT] Carl Clover Tactical Discussion/Questions/Help
Shining Aquas replied to Alternate275's topic in Archive
NO, WE WON'T!!! Carl does have untapped potential it's true, but then again so does a large majority of the roster. As much as I would love Carl to bloom, I can't see him going further than say B tier. I mean, cmon does this guy have any really good wakeup options? You know, ones that can allow for a reversal? Also, what's with the damage he's taking? Isn't that a little close to ridiculous? I ask this of the people here who play Carl: How do you deal with these major problems? -
It's almost been a month, is there footage of the rape yet?
-
Wouldn't you generally have to use 5P first to make them somewhat more airborne, then sj? Also, I wouldn't be surprised if it worked on Faust or possibly May, but who knows.
-
About to start playing Litchi I think (was having hard time between this and Bang), and have a question? I like the idea of using the "punching stick" as an oki skill, but for instances where Litchi is cold (or specifically, lacking heat), what would be a good oki method?
-
Thanks. Are there any good in match examples?
-
Wait, this has been confusing for a while, but I'm assuming to cancel all you have to do is just press 5S between frames 8-9 of the move? No RC commands or anything fancy?
-
Huh, might need to try that now, not that I can get even the normal cancel down:kitty: .
-
Normally I'd say yes to Guard Point opportunities, but Anji's low guard points are just messy. 3K is only 1 frame (repetitive pokes means your timing has to be perfect), 3S is good (5-10) but useless for anything but low GP (unless you are pro and can cancel that shit, I can't ), and 2H is way too late for poking moves (starts at 10) I think in the hands of someone more experienced, it can (maybe) work out, but I personally don't think it's worth it.
-
Dude, if I knew someone who spammed 2P, I'd probably IAD into an Orb RC to On, or if they block attempt tick throw to reset pressure. Probably a little too risky (and maybe not rewarding enough), but if it works it's funny as hell. Still, nothing beats 2D into On.

I would consider this a good summary for all the characters: Sol - I'm Running Ky - I'm Following Anji - I'm Bored Baiken - REVENGE! Axl - I'm Lost Faust - I'm Strange Zappa - I'm Stranger May - I'm Obsessive Johnny - "Hiccup" Dizzy - I'm Happy Testament - I'm Sad Bridget - I'm a Dude Jam - I'm Sexy Chipp - I'm Japanese? Potemkin - POT BUSTER! I-no - I'm Rebellious Slayer - I'm just chillin' Venom - ZATO-SAMA Millia - I'm Hunting Eddie - I'm Dead Robo-Ky - I'm Ky (???) Order Sol - I'm-OH SHIT TIME PARADOX A.B.A. - I married a Key.

As a side note, don't try to Autoguard punish the initial lower hits of Grand Viper. Trying to AG Grand Viper is like trying to fight an actual Grand Viper while completely naked: you can certainly pull it off (via well timed 3S), but it's far too risky and just plain silly if you think about it. Here's a fun tip: If your oppenent throws a Grand Viper and has 50% tension ready for a Coliseum party getting rained out (aka a Roman Cancel), Fuujin becomes fun . Assuming you guard all the rushing low hits, you can actually H Fuujin right before the last hit gets you, which not only scores you a counter hit and gets Sol off your chest, but also prevents him from Roman Cancelling on the last hit I suppose you can look at it like baseball: Throwing the GV and getting it fully blocked is strikes 1 and 2, and if he whiffs on the last pitch for strike 3, he's out, and there's no chance for him to save himself with a bunt (RC).
-
Yeah, just ignore that shit I said, you can easily H Fuujin right before the last hit assuming you blocked all the other hits of Grand Viper. It's hilarious if the Sol player is planning on going Roman at the very last hit of GV, only to eat a Fuujin sandwich instead. So, the moral of the story is: "Rome wasn't built in a day because all the Romans were too busy eating delicious Fuujin sandwiches" Secondly, about the Dust autoguard, I tend to find it fairly useful when someone IAD's you. My group of friends finally got smart enough to jump the butterfly and dash in, and will usually go for the aerial poke. Dust AG seems to be pretty safe because of the long AG box, and then punish with Kou or let the dust finish. Finally, I have a question: I've almost nearly gotten down the consistent timing for K Stomp FRC, but unsure how to make it effective in match play. Any suggestions?
