Suggestion: suggest pools in case you get more than 32 entrants; managing smaller brackets > doing one big bracket. GC: you can stay at GC until Myung tells you to leave, but there is a pub right across the street...

Question: Anyone in the socal area in/near OC looking for a roommate? If so, then send me a message.

Question: If I come, then who can house me for the weekend?

If you do push back the dates, then you must be ready to deal with the consequences. The Reality: Students are back in school by September 6th. And even if they're not, then many incoming college students are busy trying to shop for their new chapter in life. UCB term starts at August 25th while other UCs let most of their respective on-campus housing students move in starting September 17th. High schools in the FUHSD start their first semester at the third week of August. How did BNCI bring in PNW? It's b/c it was smack dab at the start of their spring break. You have to know your audience and research accordingly. There is a good reason why hosting the minor at August 27th is important to you and your community; you don't conflict with public schools and you give people ample time to recharge from EVO. The majority of the people who attend NCI are students. For students who already started school, they are settled in. For students who are ready to move into school have an extra week to prepare. And if you are salary man, then none of these points matter. tl;dr - changing dates on the notion that it's inconvenient for X number of people can either make or break the turnout; research who are your attendees, the decisions they make, their availability and plan accordingly.

So Gamecenter is no good unless one (a) slims down the roster or (b) migrates to another venue? In virtue of this hotel lounges, business rooms, pubs and even classrooms won't be legit cause of Fire Marshall max capacity. I suggest one shouldn't be quick to dismiss this on the premise that it is a safety hazard, rather, assume a safety hazard will come and account for it before it happens. For example, change the roster times so they don't mesh all the FG communities together or slim the lineup. And even if you are overcapacity, make it so you have nothing but MB setups and rotate the lineup accordingly while giving people a forecast at when their respective tournament will start/end; reduce idle time and maximize efficiency.

Entry: Myung said he would administer payment for the console-only arcade cabs as an entry fee. This also means that you have unlimited access to the console only cabs. For information about Gamecenter's pricing guide and games, http://www.gamecenterarcade.com/ or keep a look out on their FB. Support: Who needs free drinks when there's a pub across the street? :p Sodas are 75 cents per can and arcade cabs are pay-to-play contactless card-readers like SVGL. Myung is more than willing to work with the community so push for card discounts. Except the Cupertino Square parking garage trolls the hell out of you. San Mateo parking garages is actually a brilliant piece of art; you just travel on a one way road and park at one of the empty adjacent angle lots. If the garage is full, then the road will put you straight back into downtown where there are MORE angle parking lots to choose from.

Gamecenter is the ideal solution for everything NCI needs. Fiction: Gamecenter is an arcade, therefore, there can't be any space to host a tournament. Fact: Gamecenter has a VIP casual room, console setup and an arcade floor; it can easily hold AND evenly distribute 80+ people at any given time. In addition to this, Myung can change all 6 of his console-only Viewlix cabs at the arcade floor to Blazblue or Arcana Heart 3. Fiction: Gamecenter is in downtown San Mateo, therefore, parking must be terrible. Fact: Gamecenter is in downtown San Mateo, but on the contrary it is one of the easiest places to park IF you compare it to downtown SF, Berkeley, downtown SJSU and Cupertino Square. There is a parking facility next to GC which you can park your car for a quarter per hour iirc. BUT if you are adamant about parking here, then I suggest you (1) park your car at the Caltrain station in San Jose (2) take Caltrain (3) walk to Gamecenter. For more information on parking, http://www.cityofsanmateo.org/index.aspx?nid=274. Fiction: I hear there is no internet, therefore, we can't have streaming. Fact: Myung is on a DSL line atm, but will get fast internet long before the NCI minor. If you have problems with this or want to know more about it, then I suggest you talk to Myung directly at the arcade. Other Miscellaneous Benefits: Good Food Next Door In the event that you feel like you need to get out of the sausage fest, go to Donut Delight next door and get a cup of coffee or eat at Jeffery's gourmet burger joint across the street. You can get whatever the hell you want at any given time of the day before 10pm. Centralized Flow of Traffic Myung has his business setup where he can monitor both console and arcade setups at the same time; likewise the TO can oversee BOTH the console setup and arcade floor at the same time WHILE managing brackets. And in the arcade floor, there's a large flat screen monitor that can show what matches are taking place on the main setup.

Arcade is legit; thanks Myung. I look forward to coming here again in the near future. -
Gamecenter is legit - VIP game room, multiple console setups and wide spacious area to play BB, AH3, SF4, and Gundam. Myung expressed a great deal of interest to have the NCI crew join his arcade and you guys should -greatly- consider this location for future ranbats.

Major props! I am glad to see your arcade alive. -
Last year Dean only charged $3 a person. I believe it's a good idea to communicate this to the EUdemonia thread on SRK. They were the ones who first introduced this venue to us.

I would like to preface this by saying that all feedback I give is out of constructive criticism. The biggest concern is not the lineup but the venue: 1) The very fact is proven when there is no place to hold the minor. 2) The parking garage will not be a problem as long as people research and find an open lot. If you get stuck inside the garage, then it's your fault. Research is power. I left at 1AM in a parking garage without lock-in. That point doesn't make sense, you can't control people coming in on time: 1) The best thing you can do is assume that people will be late and set the level of expectation to start the tournament ASAP (AKA DQ). 2) Just because it's Berkeley does not mean people won't show up. Once again the main priority should be finding any venue. 3) It doesn’t matter how little venues are lined up. You have to assure the community that you have the capability to host the event. 4) Even if you hosted smaller events, this does not mean you have the capability to host anything on a larger scale. MMs and casuals happen regardless of whether or not you have a tournament; - Due to time constraints, MMs should happen after the tournament. - The NCI tradition is to have a monthly tournament contrary to SF4 hype. Everything else is secondary. Hosting at a university/community college should be a last resort for this reason, 'most campuses close during spring break.' - Who would want to host a larger scale tournament in a classroom based environment? Hosting a minor in this place will make you lose credibility as an organizer because you do not have the capability to occupy a real venue like Hotels, Restaurants, or Conference rooms. But if you decide to do it at SJSU, then the best option is to use the NCI money to reserve a conference room. We've been planning for BNCI since August, but that's not the issue. The reality is that there's no venue, no organization and no communication - you are not ready to host a minor.

Uh I don't understand why nobody is talking to the Eudemonia manager for the venue. The manager loves gaming communities and said that he's willing to host semi-annual events. And his dog is more hype than BB dog. We hosted 80 people b/w two rooms with excellent internet and it's nearby hotels, weeaboo eateries, and Kareoke. Parking sucks but if you do your homework then you'll be fine.
