  1. Berkeley is worse. Just do your homework before coming. Before you head back home, visit Rod and ask him to take you all to kareoke. I believe this one has some niconico meme music. http://www.yelp.com/biz/do-re-mi-music-studio-san-francisco I would recommend you all go out to an all-you-can-eat Mongolian BBQ; it's not pricey, but it does get crowded. If you don't make reservations, then wait times can be 20+ minutes. http://www.yelp.com/biz/gobi-mongolian-bbq-sunnyvale You could go for all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ at Korean BBQ palace, but the quality isn't spectacular. http://www.yelp.com/biz/palace-bbq-buffet-sunnyvale Edit: You could visit the Mogo BBQ truck (Korean/Mexican burrito fushion), but they travel around the bay area. Cash only. http://twitter.com/mogobbq
  2. IIRC BBCS was in their lineup and a hefty pot.
  3. You guys should listen to nothingxs unless you want to get trolled at the day of the tournament. UNACTive Gamers were notorious for doing everything you don't do in a tournament. The only difference now is that they have competent people running advertisements and brackets. tl;dr - Support EVO by going to CEO - Support TL by going to Revelation That's all there is to it. Edit: PhaethonH, I believe now is a good time to post your wall of text. Edit2: Rin is a hardworking and chill individual who doesn't deserve crap that's ruining his reputation and the same goes to Level|Up. Just put TL on blast.
  4. Thought I'd throw this out. I'm in the middle of liquidating my assets and asking if anybody here wants to buy my modded saulubi ps3 stick with a Cthulhu PCB - easy to mod, change buttons, etc. The only catch is that the stick can't take regular obsf30, but obsn 30 (screw on buttons). I'm also selling my battle fantasia PS3 for $20-$25. If you want to bite, then send me a PM.
  5. I would like people to get organized instead of Xie handling everything himself; small things like no GGAC teams could have been fixed if someone said before EVO, 'No GGAC teams cause there's nobody handling brackets/registration,' or during the tournament, 'GGAC will be delayed cause [person X] is playing BBCS.' If the community can get their act together, then I'll reconsider going to EVO.
  6. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everybody. Don't let drunk drivers kill you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xWb8OkMQdw&feature=related
  7. Leadership is a whole new topic and there are thousands of books written for it. It is important to apply leadership principles and recognize leaders in the community, but the reality is that they will emerge when there's a need for them.

  8. Yeah, half of the public schools in the nation have the 26th off for spring break.
  9. Wait what? QWERTY is doing a MM?
  10. TL's way of dealing with a thousand people like Zidane & Dacidbro. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=175583 http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=175427 It happened to me. Some random solid Japanese GG players named Nerina, Tamaki and Kennyon started going to school in a random Community College outside of Santa Cruz.

  12. You definitely want to reconsider the schedule. Three hours to complete a single tournament is cutting it real close - especially if you want to get done before closing. It's nice that you want to put GG in the scheme of things, but the reality is that you won't have the opportunity to do that. For e.g: making brackets, organizing setups, seeding people, and kicking people off of casual setups; this all takes more than an hour to prep. So think about the number of games you are going to run and make estimates for what you need in terms of resources. Think equipment needed to run multiple tournaments (CRTs/LCDs, consoles, copies of respective games, power strips, floorspace, TIME). You should do worst-case scenario time calculations. Take BB for instance. Worst case scenario for running a Double-Elim, 2 out of 3 rounds, best out of 3 for a 32-man bracket can be calculated by multiplying the maximum number of seconds per match and multiplying this across total number of matches necessary to determine a winner. About 44 matches takes place in a 32-man DE bracket, so: (99sec/round)*(3rounds/set)*(3set/match)*(44matches) = 39204 seconds, or 10.89 hours. Thus, if you only had one console it will take you almost 11 hours to complete a BB tourney if every match went to the last set and every round was won by a time-out. Notice, however, that if you have two setups you can divide this in half to 6 hours, and even better if you have three setups because now it only takes 4 hours. Three setups is ideal, any more is better. You should also allot 1 hour before each tournament for drawing brackets. Granted, your tournaments shouldn't be taking 4 hours to complete since these are worst case scenarios, but this is a good way to get estimates when you are building your schedule. Edit: This is how I suggest you structure your schedule. 4:00 - 5:00pm; Station setups 5:00 - 6:00pm; Registration, brackets and seeding. 6:00 - 9:00pm; Tournament Casuals should only take place when you get through to the final four. Running a designated time -for casuals- before a tournament is opening the floodgates for delays. If you get a turnout of 6-10 people, then I suggest you run a round-robin instead instead of double elim. But I commend you for trying to get the Sac scene rolling. This is the first time any event took place there since Scott's gathering 3 years ago.
  13. lol you guys are funny. People are going to be late. Deal with it. Use people's tardiness to your strength or else you're going to get trolled. Also, logic is fallacious. The very fact is proven when qwerty assumed games will have overlap.
  14. After looking through the changes, there's no way Tao will be poop tier. She can win as long as her gatling strings don't change, reverse beat, and has three jumps. ASW just doesn't want Tao players to autopilot her anymore. BBCT was just stagger 2a gatling string -> hitconfirm into meaties -> combo to corner -> ukemi tech traps or ambiguous crossups with weak oki setups. IB everything for meter and punish meaties. BBCS was just mixup whatever you want into taunt loop, drive loop, CS2 loop, fruit loops -> corner -> ukemi tech traps, ambiguous mixups or just hit confirm all day with drive. IB everything for meter and punish most meaties. BBCS2 brings nothing new to the table. Yeah she has a new j.b and can't gatling 3c anymore. These are not big problems. As long as you have meter and an overhead, you can already pull 3k. Your biggest worry is going to be, and always will be, X good matchups and X bad ones. I'm actually happy that drives are bad now. There's no reason to reward any person to mash it till time runs out. Her drives should always leave her in negative frames so you have to splurge meter to make it safe. My suggestion is get rid of all your jumpy drive habits and start thinking about how to space yourself properly. Edit: Thank goodness TL doesn't exist anymore. Edit2: ASW vision of BBCS2 Tao is pre-emptive strat -> hit before you get hit. The very fact is proven that her CA is now poop. Pressure should not shift so swiftly from one side to another. So you all better up your defense big time if you want to survive. But this nerf is nowhere near as bad as a lot of people are making it out to be. On the contrary, she'll probably play...exactly the same since day 1. Edit3: The worst case scenario is that Tao is going to be like CT Bang. Strong mixups, but has to do them numerous times to win.
  15. http://www.ncinstall.webs.com/ if i can do html, then anyone can. also
  16. Sure, I guess I should stop posting useless information that doesn't help NorCal. I'm only relaying the info that was given directly to me from Koogy himself.
  17. Papa Juice doesn't like people telling the truth.
  18. I just talked to Koogy in person at NCR and been collaborating with him about NCI for over a year now. It's basically the same thing he did with IPW. Koogy made a t-shirt for IPW to advertise Brokentier.com -> 100% earnings would go to IPW. The only difference is that we're paying him to design the shirt so we can buy n' sell it. It's not butting into his business. On the contrary, it's giving him business while giving us a profit; Paul supports NCI 100% and encourages us to see the long-term goal.
  19. Whatever happened to the venue fee you guys have been collecting? You should tap into that to purchase a venue. Koogy is also willing to make NorCal Install T-Shirts as long as we pay him $400 for the proceeds. So yeah, invest $400 to Brokentier.com and get 30 shirts n' sell em for $20 each while getting extra shirts to give away for prizes. Rinse and repeat n' profit. NCI should have it's own paypal account already.
  20. Hey JP Ken and Nerina were the biggest reasons for me to join the FG community. Actually they, and Fred, were the -only- reason why I decided to stick with GG back in my college days n' beyond...Probably the biggest waste of three years of my life. Despite my recent trolling, I sincerely think you guys were cool to hang around with; I also really would like to thank everyone whom I got to touch base on a personal level. When it comes to TO; when we can't come on solid terms for streaming; when people like to not care; NorCal is free regardless of whatever reason we try to butter ourselves up to be. Now do you want to STAY free or try to do something you're good at? If you asked for my opinion, NorCal has one -exceedingly- good trait that actually stands out above other communities - consistency. That's the one (and the only one) thing I could rely on whenever I tried to organize a tournament with you flunkies. I got to hand it to you guys; GG/MB always had a consistent turnout as long as it didn't include travel for more than 20 miles...unless it was the previous minor. If you guys keep it that way, then the scene will keep going until somebody dies from old age. That's the one thing I thankful for you all.
