I think GG does a lot of unnecessary things that result in me not caring enough to put the time required to play it.
I'm not going to say it's a bad game or that other people shouldn't play it, but I just don't have the time or the patience to memorize FRCs and learn almost every combo over again for each character just because their hitbox is like 2mm to the left or their weight class is different. I can understand character specific combos and why they exist, but from what I've seen in GG it's just to a ridiculous extent where I couldn't see myself caring enough to put it into practice. Most of the things that make GG hard can't be justified without the concept of an artificially induced skill barrier that's only there to establish a core elite group of players who can consistently make use of the features, and I think that's not a smart way to go about designing a fighting game. Of course the absolute wrong way to go about fixing this is to make a game like BB where everything has been overtly simplified, but that doesn't make the opposite extreme anymore attractive for me. But w/e more power to you if you can enjoy the game, because I can't.
