  1. KEEP EM COMING PANDA! that Sol that you versed didn't seem all that, when you started releasing blades, you pretty much dominated him. the new update (1.46) seems to have added a new graphical effect when using the Healing Rod, as well as a new status symbol. you and your units get this awesome purple aura glow, like Dimitri's aura glow from Capcom's Darkstalkers, and the status symbol you see is a purple hour glass. the official website STILL hasn't released a pdf detailing what they have updated specifically. random Gigant crap did you know that the Gigant upgrades change Gigant's soldier type attributes? try giving him no upgrades, and have him face a ton of springbacks or some other mobile, they will eat him alive, because they are mobile, and because Gigant sucks. now give Gigant the Melee upgrade, and it will make Gigant a giant melee unit. in other words, those springbacks, all 20 of them, will die a horrible death. try the melee upgrade on some armors now, notice they really don't flinch or seem to have any trouble fighting the USELESS GIGANT? of coarse not! ARMORS> MELEE ANY DAY! now give the Gigant the mobile upgrade. not only does it not takes a week for Gigant to move to adjacent ghosts, but he punches more rapidly too! that may seem all fine and dandy, but use it on those armors, and you'll see his new boxing skills will blow his fat opponents right off their feet. I'm assuming the armor upgrade makes him more....uh...armorish, but since his new gimmick is a battering ram, it knowcks down oponents very quickly, and the full potential of the thing cannot be exploited. that is, unless you use it on another big 'ol armor unit like the bone bitter. Armor upgrade gigant will DESTROY bone bitter dragon of unpleasant breath, with it's insanely damaging battering ram/pike thing. yeah, you gotta keep it upgraded, but Gigant will own it. now take this new found information and try your hand with Gigant, and you will see HE IS NOT WORTH USING, he will bankrupt your mana. only pull it out if you want to be different or if your dead set on finding a use for him that Sol's other elite units do not already have. the upgrades for Gigant are necessary for him to be of any use, in other words, your going to have to baby sit the unit, coming back to constantly upgrade it. random tidbit, the missile attack for Gigant is the only attack in the game that inflicts the fear status that I know of, and it is annoying. when doing the epic bone bitter battle, the damn dragon kept running away because of the missiles. I wanna test out upgrades more though, just for the hell of it. end of Gigant crap. because no one really comes on this thread anyway, I will rant on my misgivings in my personal experience with this game. only read if your bored. I do not own an Xbox 360, so I leave my copy at a friends house who lives in a city over thats not to hard to get to provided I have nothing to do for a weekend, and god knows I don't have anything to do in the summer. we recently been playing this game a lot, trying our hands on free missions on hard mode with different characters, taking turns on owning the computer in exhibition mode, and having a blast doing teaming up and fighting level 5 computers in 2 vs 2 matches, trying to learn the best strategies for each map. he is actually a better player than I am, and is getting getting adjusted to playing in split screen from the team matches we were doing. even after admitting he was really enjoying himself, I propose, "lets verse each other, just once before we stop" and he's like "no". WHY!?!?!?! in our history in versing each other, he wins 90 percent of the time, but he doesn't want to verse me, only taking turns playing and teaming up with me against level 5 computers (with reduced mana, because they are CRAZY without mana reduction). so, the online is dead, and I have reliable competition sitting right next to me, and he doesn't want to fight me. split screen is inferior to single player due to the screen being crazy cluttered, and not being able to separate your units, but it is still a viable method of playing, and it's not like he can beat me without trying, as I can get him in master battles. I just don't get it. poopy:arg:. that's the end my rant.
  2. great to hear panda. looking forward to the rest of those videos. by the way, they recently updated the game to version 1.46, but the official website has not put up another pdf file explaining the changes. now all the games I had in my replay file are now useless. seems like JJJJJJ2 now has a silver account. I guess he won't be doing any matches online until he gets it upgraded. online is super dead, and I don' have the patience to make a room and sit on my butt for god knows how long waitng for a match. I can totally understand why panda quit this game, seeing as he got so good, but he has NO ONE to use his skills againsts, unless he wants to stay up in the early hours of the morning to fight the japanese. we got about a 12 hour time lag, when it's 12 am for us, it's around 12 pm for them roughly. I know becaue I spoke to someone in japan (who spoke english) and asked them what time it was. anyway, I'd llike to ask you guys, who is your favourite character among the playable GG 2 cast to play as? for me, it's Sol, because I can dig his totally awesome but difficult style of RTSD gameplay. switching between him and Paradigm is alienating, but fun. EDIT: random tought. you know what would make hunchback extreamly useful? if it blew up under any cercumstance after it dies, than it would totally be worth everything it costs. man, that would be awesome, along with giving Sol a stratagem skill. he needs a stratagem skill badly, it would make him considerably more deadly. you guys ever give the GG2 updates pdf files a look over at gg2nd.jp? at one point, Dr. Paradigm had 500 health. reading it really does give you a sense of apreceation of their attempts to balance the game. looking at the game now, I'd say it is fairly balanced. my only gripe is with sol's useless unit's like Gigant and Pencil guy. I'm sure every character has usless units in some form or another though, so whatever.
  3. Teach? Man, people really need to just play the campaign mode to learn the bare basics of playing. It's so dumb how I run into idiots who play without even touching campaign mode and don't know what they are doing. Oh, and glad to hear your uploading some new gg2 videos panda, thanks alot.
  4. just how many J's does he have in his gamertag exactly? about that strategy like you mentioned, I imagine you need considerable skill to actually pull it off, I myself haven't seen something like that in advance play. I've seen a video where someone finishes the match specifically by hunting down the enemy master at the end of the match, but not the whole time. Panda once told me he say Kimera cryin do exactly what you said though, like 100%. Panda said he went STRAIGHT to the master ghost and ambushed the opponent over and over, repeatedly killing him, right at the guy's master ghost. I would LOVE to see that in action. once again though, it's something that would require a considerable amount of skill in order to be viable, as it's certainly isn't an easy thing to do.
  5. crap, when I fought JJJJ2 I didn't take the opportunity to friend him. now I wanna fight against him again since he's actually continuing to play the game. Panda said here on the boards earlier that overall, valentine is better than Raven due to lack of crowd control and his master vs master based skills, as opposed to her servant based skills, which are more important for victory. I'm sure raven's biggest advantage over valentine is that he is easy to play. I have trouble finding use for his special attacks. a nice thing about him is his (LO) 8x goes over mines without blowing up. EDIT: also, if you couldn't tell by my avatar, big raven fan over here.
  6. EDIT: bah, never mind. EDIT(2):anyway, on the subject of hunchback, I have concluded that, although it works well as a detraction for enemy servants, it dies too easily to be of any significant help, as it has VERY little health. it's too slow to be reliable in a masters confrontation as well, which is ironic, because it's supposed to be a "mobile" unit. It just doesn't have the life to make up for it's shortcommings, and it's few good points cannot justify taking up a spot in your inventory, or even the mana and tension it costs. the bottom line is that it stinks, your better off not using it. EDIT(3): ok, if you REALLY do want to use hunchback, it isn't actually COMPLETLY useless, it just has a good chance of getting killed quickly. when you use it to fight armor or magic units, it can be a god send becuase of it's destraction of enemy units and the good damage output, despite it's low health, but ONLY if you use it for that purpose. when you summon it, his hunchback throw projectile will stop pretty much everything, so if you want to be different, use it for a master battle. don't expect anything from it in a master battle though, because it is a very slow and unaggresive unit (like ALL of Sol's non elite units). I'll repeat, it only good to support you for facing armors and magic units (even elites!, but it is there to support YOU, not to take on the forces single handedly.) but even then, it doesn't have a lot of health, so don't rely on his death explosion. Candy units kill Hunchback SUPER fast.
  7. one more, because only one attached image allowed per post. I don't remember running across this one here either.
  8. I don't think this one was posted here. I like raven, WE NEED MORE RAVEN ART!
  9. cool to know the character is getting deadlier. it's surprising, because I'm not used to hearing about general changes in opinion of how characters preform when I get into a game, but seeing as how unpopular this game is, it can't be helped. ugh, I'm STILL sucking hard with paradigm though. hn tappu posted another battle on nico video against a ky player on trioa (panda 62 I think), where he won via judgment. it was epic. I noticed that he was doing pretty bad in master battles, so I guess it's something that can't be helped when playing Dr. Paradigm. I'm an ABSOLUTE mess when playing this character, even after watching his videos, but I don't want to drop him though. I also seem to have a really nasty habit with Sol. I take over the map with nothing but drills, but not fast enough to reach the master ghost by round 1, or before the enemy can summon his armors, which eats my drills alive. this wouldn't be a problem if I was good at micro-managing my tasks and purchase my blades as soon as I can and dump them to the front line, to slow the enemy down so I can work my magic and slaughter what I have to, but I keep forgetting to summon anything but drills! it's not uncommon for me to look up and find I have a ton of mana that I didn't touch, thanks to me running around with nothing but drills, and maybe some random Item or skill. by the time I start buying new stuff, it's too late... Panda, do you recomend using Sol's Flame Jacket? I tend never to use it, because I don't feel it would save me if I stink, so I say "whats the point?". I only really use it to copy you and that combo you do with it, because it looks really cool. juggling people with your aura blast is awesome. BAH! oh, and do many people use jump to avoid horizontal attacks? I personally haven't seen that too often, but it seems very effective. I overlooked the fact that the game suggest that you do it. EDIT: oh yeah, ayumu, when you summon hunchback, sol tosses it and it will burn anything it touches. it does minimal damage, but I haven't really experimented with that feature otherwise. I plan to do some extensive testing with the unit. I used it in a free mission, where you have to fight a bunch of servants on a bridge. I "S" ranked it on hard pretty easily, thanks to the hunchback distracting all the enemies. it also seems that the unit has a short recovery time, so you can send out a second hunchback rather quickly. so far Hunchback's good points seem to be hitting enemies on spawn, blowing up when disappearing (nice damage output on that move, unlike his spawn, but he takes his time blowing up.), and having short recovery time (Item charge wise). since he's a mobile, he does good against armors and magics. the only problem is that it seems he can't take too much punishment, and he's slow and unaggressive. I will find out more on him soon, and see whether it's worth it to use the thing.
  10. I've faced panda's ky. so I faced a good one before (owned me). even still, that's not saying a lot, as any master is trouble when played at a high level. I'm just saying that Ky is definitely not the best master. his holy brand combo does crazy damage though. CRAZY damage.
  11. Ky is DEFINITELY not the most dangerous master (neither is sol). my friend mained Ky, and got sick of getting his ass handed to him in fights. the problem with ky is that he is limited in his approaches to attack you (read: predictable), and his reversal is not as good as sol's. when you play as ky, you will learn is combo strings, and learn how to escape them and counter attack. Panda plays plenty of Ky, so he would know a lot more than I do about the guy. there are some topics of him deep in the gamefaqs board, so go digging there if you want to find some more info on him. the two most deadliest masters are probably Sin and Izuna (great range), but my experience with them is limited. sol's lack of range really hurts him, but at the very least, he has the tools to defeat any master at one on one. look at some of the earlier discussions on this board for more on the topic. I think in order to make full use of sol, you need to take advantage of items and his skills. with dragon install, sol is death incarnate, getting hit with volanic viper in that form does insane damage. carry around your firewheel and ambush enemy masters with it to tilt things in your favor in a big way. hunchback is decent for backing you up in a fight, despite it's lack of overall effectiveness, it saved my butt a couple of times in master fights by interrupting the enemy's combo, and it's relatively cheap in both tension and mana. just don't expect too much from it and your fine, think of it primarily as a support unit for backing sol up, so don't expect it to play hero. it's not used by a lot of players (probably no one uses it), but I believe you can squeeze some use out of it to cover the lack of some skill. remember that Dr.P and Valentine use items and skills to boost themselves considerably in master battles, so disabling their item slot would be a good tactic, and a dispell is a must. remember that Sol's engulfer can lock the item slot of the enemy master, so if you want, you can ambush masters with it. it isn't as powerful as firewheel though, so keep that in mind. don't mind my raving, just felt like blabbing some sol tactics. theres always a time where you gotta move on Panda. though i really wish you did write some sort of guide, you helped plenty on the boards and on youtube, so thanks for your contributions. lets hope a sequel comes out eventually.
  12. oh, thanks for sharing that video ayumu. I ran into JJJJ2 the other day, I beat his sin senslees. he was ok at the servant battles, though he made some big mistakes here and there. that and he stinks at master battles, so every time I came across him, I tore right through him with Sol. I gotta get better at over-runing the master ghost in one round! I don't know how panda wins using nothing but drills in round one! I must be too slow or something. anyway, at least JJJJ2 knows how to play unlike some americans online... so, again for future refrence....some HN tappu Goodness! showing off some of that Dr. paradigm. http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm6299425 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm6300031 http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm6303258 got it from the gamefaq boards, and thought I'd share with those here.
  13. that video was ok, I don't really care for what the development team did not put in the game though. that fire tackle did look sick. I prefer videos of player kicking ass and tacking names, stuff that didn't make the final product won't help me stop getting my ass handed to me. EDIT: I recently picked up Dr.Paradigm, can any one give me general tips on playing the good doctor? any good vids you can refer me to? I can beat the computer with him (barely) but im pretty bad with him over all.
  14. when are you on Xbox live? WHEN? we can face one another in BOTH BB and GG2. it will be fill ed with glee! I like to talk sometimes during play, and I use a friend's account named boundary or something like that. I'll hunt down your name and make the palsy walsy with ya or something of other. I ain't too good at BB, play some Bang, Ragna and Tager. I'm trying to main bang, but he's SO hard to play with! his manly eyebrows and theme song MORE than make up for his over-all ineffectiveness. I actually don't own a 360, but I visit a friend of mine about weekly, so I'll challenge ya about once a week or so if your on the same time as I am. and just who might you play in blazblue???

  15. well, actually, I prefer guilty gear accent core's game play system over Blazblue's. I don't know, feels more solid to me, though I in no way dislike Blazblue, just a personal preference. that video on nico douga or watchamacallit has improved my sol game tremendously. I still stink with servants though, I don't know the maps good enough and whats most important to capture, and my buddy has a nasty habit of spamming armors, which is a pain to deal with. but at least I know what I'm aiming to do, now it's all down to practice. why hello Ayumu, I had a match against you once, a 4 player match, me (signed on as boundary) panda (I think he was ky) you (as Valentine) and a raven player named cornmuffin or something like that, playing on an illiriya map. super awesome match where the raven player summoned every force he had under the sun and left it at his masterghost, that force was IMPENETRABLE, I tell you. impenetrable. all though I didn't really do much that match, it didn't stop it from being epic in my eyes, nope, no sir. panda jumped your master ghost and ended that way some how, after barely fighting off your forces, it was like a SUPER close match, and I pretty much stood at the sidelines, waiting for cornmuffin to move from his master ghost, which he did shortly after you jumped panda's master ghost, but to my dismay he left his forces. hot, I may be to blame for this though, since he was pretty bad at master duels, and got critical downed a few times.. when do you usually play? we must have more rubber band matches, preferably with me doing stuff. I was actually wondering why you weren't saying nothing while you used to be so active. rambling is fun. hey ayumu, write a guide! it's hip! it's in style! everybody who's cool (read: not me) is doing it!
  16. WOW! that video was AMAZING! he played so well! he fought exelently, and he knew how to manage his units, most of the time, not letting them die needlessly. the only thing I have to ask is why did he not destroy raven"s MG in the end of the round before the final? did he feel he would not be able to destroy it in time without getting interupted? or did he simply want the match to go on for a little longer? regardless of which, that video was simply amazing. seeing Sol in action like this is what makes refuse to drop the character. simply too badass. I can see what you said in your earlier post regarding sol. kimera never uses pencil guy or block head, and did a majority of the work, but make sure he took care of his own units as well as he could. I like how he helped his partner in the first round by cutting off the ghost in front of the yellow Sol's master ghost. it's like kimera never takes his eyes off the map, and knows what are the most valuable ghost that he must take, and knows when he's out-gunned in certain parts of the map, and he must retreat. how he cought yellow sol by himself in the end was very impressive, like he was an assasin or something. played blazblu myself, it's very good (lovin that Iron Tager!), but it's not the same type of game that GG2 is, so I doubt that players will ignore this game for too long. one of GG2's biggest strenght is that it is a unique game. Panda, post more cool vids when you come across them!
  17. wow, I came to this board ready to spill acid on sol, he is so much worse than the other characters that it is not even funny, but your reply really help calm me down panda, I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question. honestly I see how a big sol buff like flameAJ keeps away from servant battles, I just keep getting my ass handed to my by my pal boundary who plays sin (who is LEAGUES better that sol. LEAGUES) the game is so friggen unbalanced when it comes to sol and servant battles it's not even funny. I have no Idea how you manage to keep on selecting this character. seriously, when ever I read in the instruction manual and sees how it says the sol's master abilities make up for shitty servants I scream out LIES! and I throw it across the room. I hope the next update will give sol a permanent 100 dragon install or something, he's got like nothing going for him. in all seriousness though, I was about to drop the game and denounce it as terribly imbalanced piece of tripe. thanks for answering though, if you can kick ass with him, I guess he's not a total waste of a character slot. I was gonna drop the character, but I'll man up and stick with him. panda, why do you play as sol? is it for the challenge? I can do the same amount of work with raven as with sol, with half the effort. sin seems to have so many advantages in comparison to sol it's disgusting. you don't even need to try with that jerk off, his range is insanely difficult to punish, and does WAY too much damage, and his units are actually competent. sorry to rant like this, I'm just kind of pissed at the game right now. Edit: made an account in nico video (MUST USE EVERY TOOL TO IMPROVE IN THIS GAME), but navigating the site is a bit of a problem, the translator I'm using is giving me issues. is there a fav feature like youtube, or am I on my own in that regard
  18. this question has been killing me since......well, for a while now, so I'm gonna go ahead and post it. I main as sol(soon to pick up Dr. paradigm, gimp expensive servants and gimp master, ULTIMATE TAG TEAM), and due to an unfortunate set of circumstances, I cannot play this game anywhere near as much as I would like, so when I want to test something, I'm usually out of luck. just how essential is pencil guy to acquire victory when it comes to Sol? just how much of an edge do they give sol badguy's regular forces (being the drill and the blade) and are they worth the mana? or should I just stick with drills blades and elites? this has been annoying me for a while. I know he can poison and throw stun grenades, indecently, I don't know what block head's power up does to the unit, besides making it all fired up appearance wise. and what about that there block head? gives you a massive boost with them servants (they no longer get trample on by opposing forces) but is he worth it? or are there better alternatives? is he the least essential elite besides ultra useless gigant? or is it all just based on playing style? I fear allowing the opponent to develop his forces is extremely dangerous for sol, and block head is best accompanied by a big force of normal units to make him really worthwhile. ahh, maybe I should just shut up and come up with what works best on my own.
  19. yes there is a way to check up the information in the loading screens. I suggest you do this in training mode, as it is suited to experimenting and other important related things. when pausing the game, there is a a bunch of menus and options. go pilfering in them, and you will find information on EVERY UNIT in the game. I forget what category it is under, but I know it is not under "Lore", only story related information is in there. there is also general information on specific characters in the game manual I believe, including what the developers had intended how each character to play as, and very general information on every character's tribe. give it a look as well. remember though, almost everything in the game can be found within the pause menu, as there are encyclopedia like entries for most of the game mechanics. also, I'm glad to hear some one is making a guide for this game! unfortunately, I don't have any specific information on sin from the GameFAQs boards, and I don't play the character myself so I can't help you there. Oh, and please take your time putting it up. I'd rather have a well written and well researched and solid guide then a rushed one. I recently submitted a review of this game to GameFAQs. when it was accepted, I re-read it, found a plethora of grammar and spelling mistakes, a terrible title, sorry excuse for an intro, and poo-poo composition. I have no Idea how that thing was even accepted, and am now revising it for an update. Them be the consequences of rushing
  20. hello! I heard from your wonderful sibling that you play overture, and play as Sol Badguy, if you don't mind can I ask you 2 questions about the character? do you use Gigant, and when you use him, does he help you win? how often do you use pencil guys to help you win? also, I'd like to hear your opinion on the game if you don't mind sharing, oh, and do you play anyone else besides Sol Badguy?

  21. the official english Guilty Gear 2 overture website is outdated. it still advertises the pre-order of the game. there are .PDF files released for the updates the game receives in the Japanese website.they describe what changes occur with each update. what are the chances that these .pdf files can be translated for English speaking audiences to read in America? can Aksys Games translate these files and put them on the English site? or maybe at these boards as a courtesy?

  22. ah, thanks, I'll look those sites up. I have a friend who main's Ky and is getting really frustrated with the character, complaining that he's too predictable in master battles. He's better than me, but he's loosing his drive to improve in this game, so I suggested he should switch and play with a secondary character (he chooses izuna). whats your opinion on playing with ky? personally, I think he's being pissy, I play sol, and loose every 1 on 1, though I'm improving (thanks to panda's vids and some practice) sol's servants are garbage incarnate, you must play taxi with them and interrupt your opponent's forces constantly. damn you Gigant! so fucking useless!

  23. hey hey, I was bored and started to cruz your conversation with siiner and saw you post nekotama (spelling?) art. might you know were I can get similar overture related artwork? I chose to stalk you because you play overture, which seems to have a bad rep here, because people are too dumb to appreciate stratagy. who do you main by the way?

  24. hey panda, if you need any help with making your guide, let me know. I happen to went around gamefaqs boards and saved some of the information that was posted to help players. I got info for about every character in the game. I could send it to you somehow. I have them saved in microsoft word. EDIT: I also got lots of free time on my hands as well. I would type up a guide myself if I actually knew enough about the game. the only characters I touch are Sol and Raven. doesn't help that I never wrote a FAQ before. if you don't mind me being an ass about it, one way to make sure you have enough time to write the FAQ is every time you want to play a video game, and know you have the time to do it, work on writing the guide instead. hell, now I really feel like writing a guide for this game. this game is so neglected and misunderstood.
