I'm sorry to use this as an example, I hope you don't mind Pedro. When I first played the Pedrius, he was so fucking free. I couldn't imagine losing a match to him. Execution, mental fortitude, mind games, mixups... Everything was lacking. Now Pedro fucking kicks my ass, and he's the one who came closest to beating LK's Kokonoe in tournament. I'm the one who has to catch up to him. If I meet Pedro in a tournament, I'll start to sweat and curse the bracket gods. It's not complicated man... Keep playing and you will improve. That defeatist attitude will get you nowhere, be it in fighting games or in life in general, and is just quite unpleasant in general.
