  1. :3 I'd be okay with that guy too.
  2. JP VA- Mamoru Miyano ENG VA- Johnny Young Bosch :3
  3. There's a sticky for it in BB General. :3 You should check it out. Also, I have nothing against netplay. But it would help the community as a whole if those people would show up official venues as those are the ones that get attention. Getting them more interested in checking out their local communities or starting their own is in my opinion a better direction to push in. pktazn- I think those replays would be helpful. I actually haven't watched any of them myself. You should stick them in a playlist (or playlists) and then post them up on the front page with a short blurb (mentioning what block, etc) when you have time.
  4. Oh yeah. Stuff like NSB and other big tournaments in Japan could be included. Obviously we're already doing SBO coverage too.
  5. For the reasons above, I do think that we should just stick to video results from majors and minors (for example, we could post up video results of NCI coming up in a few weeks). That way we won't have too many videos of- wat is this for? And to answer your question- yes. Once I have the recordings (in whatever form they come in) and the transcripts, I'll publish them for the front page.
  6. It's probably just some bias from how my own scene is. We either have people who play or don't play and the people who play are actively interested in the game. PR stuff geared for casuals wouldn't really appeal to them (though it is stuff we do when we want to boost tournament numbers). I'm not really sure how other scenes are so I can't comment on that. Plus... I believe it was discussed in the staff forum that DL is geared for people who actually want to play the game and not spectators. I actually think that there being too much stuff geared for spectators on SRK is what originally caused the discussion on SRK and birthed this thread. I would personally prefer it if we keep DL gameplay focused, but that might just be me. While I have kind of mixed feelings on the front page becoming a tutorial 101 (as I believe that if you want to learn that stuff, you should go to the proper areas like Beginner Mode and Character Subforums), video tutorials would be helpful for people who can't really get it or need a visual example before they can understand something. I am in favor of Blazblue as a game and local communities overall getting exposure so that people know there are people who play this game (and there might be people nearby them so they should go play too). But there's lots of different ways we can approach this kind of thing. TLDR; No on gossip articles. Okay on tutorial stuff (especially if someone experienced wanted to make a video/video series explaining gameplay mechanics, etc) as long as it's not going overboard. Plus points on- Go to a goddamn tournament. :V
  7. Videos for majors, I guess. We could put up important combo videos... But that is more important for the character subforums than the general site. We don't have a large casual community like SRK... So there is no huge need to do mindless PR stuff unless you want to go that direction.
  8. If you need a PS2 pad + converter, you can probably ask Tae.
  9. Lol. I sent a very short thing to SRK. It was at 3am though, so it wasn't very good. I can make a proper article and post it on the front page of DL. And done. LK- I asked earlier on the staff forum if I should make one, but no one said anything so...
  10. PNW is planning on getting new recording equipment soon-ish? But since it sort of caught on fire the equipment we have now is useless.
  11. Should be on the first page of this thread. Or the first page of the JPN video thread.
  12. Uh... it's kind of weird that you're doing 5B 6B 5B since 6B does not gatling into 5B. I'm pretty sure you just mean 5B 6A 5B j.C 2D jc j.2C. The trick is really making sure you hit them with j.C at the right height. The higher you hit them with j.C the easier it is to make sure you'll level 2. There's also a tutorial on this in the Rachel combo threads. 5B must also hit at pretty much point blank range for this to work. As for after B cannon, you want to make sure you just hold up forward near the end of B cannon's recovery. The BnB is kind of wonky to get used to, but once you do it becomes fairly easy (everyone messes it up though). You can try from 2A starter, but it may not be possible to do the one wind version from 2A (unless you hit with 2A really really close) because if you're too far when the first 5B hits, the combo won't work.
  13. So from what I read- Friday is casuals day and all the actual tourney stuff happens on Saturday, right? Any sort of ideas on times? Just 'cuz a lot of us live pretty far from Seattle. So we'll need to arrange rides/carpooling/etc. Info on parking would be great too.
  14. All right. I'll update the first post when I'm being less sleepy. :3 Thanks gli~
  15. http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm15399476 New combo video. Someone make a transcript. I'm super lazy. BTW- Multifrog is possible. :V
  16. http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm15399476 Idk if this has been posted already, but this has really good stuff. Really high damage combos and 50/50 setups. Plus a lot of neat tricks that I didn't know about.
  17. Everyone can just block it and jump out.
  18. DPs can also be baited on wake up. So what you're saying about DPing on wake up if you think they're going to meaty is not 100%. You don't really have to respect DP at all if you have DP safe oki. And even then, if the punish is big enough (and it is for most characters), they're the ones who are scared about DPing. Rachel for one has plenty. For example, if Rachel got j.2C knock down and did 2A whiff oki... it's a very bad idea for Ragna to DP on wake up as if it hits, he gets 1k... but if Rachel decides to do nothing she gets corner carry + a lot more damage than 1k. :V And that's how a DP is. You're supposed to think about it before using it. 2C in some situations, you don't even really have to as the risk v. reward is in your favor (if you have pumpkin out then there is no risk even if you fuck up and have no meter). That's why I say it's better than most DPs in the game. I suppose another advantage is that you don't have to do the option select to avoid cross ups. Now don't get me wrong... cat chair is not the best thing ever... but it is way stronger than it should be.
  19. I say CS1 Rachel mirrors were worse. Though I imagine Hazama mirrors are also kind of OTL.
  20. Tell me what setup most characters with a DP (that means not counting Mu who has steins and relatively safe DPs like Hakumen) can do to make their DP safe on whiff and block outside of RC (which doesn't cover whiff). A meaty only comes up if you're trying to 2C on wake up. Why would you do that unless you wanted to kill yourself when you have better options like tech + wind? Anyway, because of the CS2 hitstop change cat chair is very hard to bait compared to most autoguard moves because if they hit cat chair's auto guard a lot of times they won't have time to chain into throw because they're stuck in hitstop (most situations you cannot). This is even true in situations where they try to RC (for example, some of Tager's moves... even if he RCs he'll still get hit). Also, if pumpkin is out you can't really bait it at all as Rachel can punish you for trying to punish her. And it is very important (especially for some characters) to keep cat chair in mind... especially since Rachel gets 5k + oki off of it if she has meter and at least 3.5k with no meter. That does more than most characters BnBs mid screen. Or did you not see that video where Matsu almost killed Hima because Hima forgot about cat chair and got hit with a 7k+ combo?
  21. I think you mean- "It's air unblockable so you have to barrier it." I'm pretty sure invincibility has nothing to do with that. But yeah. Hakumen can catch you for jumping around like a moron. Hotaru's really good for that too (if you're jumping near the corner you'd better not push a button or not be holding barrier). However... to avoid Enma, you could just super jump back and try to summon and it's free since he can't do anything out of Kishuu to catch you. Keep you in mind though that he can try to call you out with j.C if you do it without waiting for him to do something, but that's more of an annoyance than a threat. In general, using cat chair against Hakumen is a bad idea since he has actually alot of ways to bait it. If you see him whiffing 5A above you or doing 5A 6B mix up... he's pretty much waiting for you to kill yourself. It will guard point some of his C attacks and hit him though and once I had it go through Hotaru... but that's kind of iffy to rely on.
  22. Thanks. I'll work on some more stuff when I have time/am less lazy. Airk- I don't think spending 5 pages bitching about what's good commentary and who's e-peen commentary is better "gets more notice for the community". I think actually working on projects does more. But that may just be me. If you actually want to work on things, then I'm sure no one would really mind.
  23. So why again is this thread everyone bitching about commentary? Anyway, I think we can get more exposure if we tried. I emailed SRK last night the Evo2011 BBCS teams top 8 and it's already up.
