  1. Isn't it the exact same venue as last year? The hotel has the same name as last year's hotel, and even Larry said it was the same spot. Are you thinking two years back?
  2. Tager makes my balls give it a thumb up.
  3. I seriously was about to comment that you're all old enough to make your own life decisions, but then I remembered some of you are under 20 or just getting there. I feel so old around you guys, while at work, I'm a spry young agent. Hope you do get to go, Chandler. Same for anyone else looking for parent approval.
  4. No, I meant your vid. I watched your speedrun and didn't realize it was you until the end. Also, I already read your sad story of that snake elsewhere. I swear I accidentally stalk you online. I'm just minding my business, and bam, Chandler stuff appears. In an alternate universe, we're brothers or something. It's scary...
  5. I had Spelunky in my sights for a while, and it looked fun. It was on sale last week, so I instantly snagged it. Looking for tips/tricks/cheats/etc., I took to the Youtubes. There was an impressive speedrun that I watched in full, and after it ended, I noticed your name. It was really surprising, because I've never heard you mention the game. Anyway, I'm slowly getting better at it. Dragging the key all the way down to 3-3 and dying by A RANDOMLY EXPLODING UFO was one of the saddest moments in my gaming career, right behind not holding an Atomic Collider for a split second more, which cost me $200+.
  6. Yo, Spelunky is awesome. Chandler is secretly a god at it, but he never talks about it.
  7. The 360 thing is only speculation. It would drastically hurt sales if they blocked used games, so it probably won't happen. In fact, didn't someone on Reddit track the source of that rumor, and it was started by some joe-shmoe website? Could've been a blogspot and been more credible.
  8. This is the best post I've seen in here. Not cutting down those awesome long posts, but I never really thought about a round being that .5 factor in matchup numbers.
  9. I think it's because even in the worst matchups, the underdog can truly pull out those wins 30% of the time. Remember, all it takes is that one knockdown/grapple to completely turn the match around. In CT, people said Nu/Tager was 8-2, but I felt it was more 7-3 or 7.2-2.5. Hell, it was harder fighting Litchi and her instant overheads in CS.
  10. Jackie's first draft was... Roses are red Blaz is blue I wish CP was out So I could dp you But he knew how that sounded.....
  11. Roses are red The Hulk is green I wanna smash you If you know what I mean
  12. Astaroth won't be there Saturday. Gotta funeral to attend.
  13. Very dependent on the game, but yes, it is a great resource. It was pretty much my only resource for SC5. Netplay in GG, KoF, or Marvel? Nah, it just doesn't work there.
  14. "We" as in "us TN players." lol
  15. Being successful in fighting games is much like being successful in real life - it hinges on location, background, determination, education/training, and a bit of luck. None of us are particularly successful (in the sense that we're winning majors) in fighters because we don't have the resources for it. We live in a state where we are all scattered, making it harder for fight nights. Even when one is planned, life, school, and/or jobs kick us in the nads. Sitting in training mode for hours gets you nowhere, and I'll never understand why people thinks it will. You need to constantly play good opponents to train reactions and learn opponent's mixups. Out of all of those Marvel, SC5, or BB tournaments I've won, I spent maybe 15% of my time in training mode. I feel like it's much better to learn matchups and hone my ability to adapt on the fly, rather than learn a ton of resets I'll never remember mid-match. Yomi is just a part of everything. Yomi's in business. Yomi's in fighters. Yomi's in sports. I don't think it's something you can purposefully train to improve, but instead, it's something that automatically improves as you get better at whatever you're doing. And yes, some people are just better at it than others. But yeah, that's my two cents on success in games.
  16. Star, I'll have a decent post for you tonight. I think I can say that after college, I've got a good job that is enjoyable and relates to my major. That's not me bragging or anything; just letting you know that it is possible for your average, low-income fighting game player.
  17. Damn, hope you're OK, Volpe. On another note, YOU GUYS BETTER TRY TO RESERVE A FINAL ROUND ROOM TOMORROW! They're basically sold out right now under the FR group rate, but Shin Blanka is going to try to get more rooms tomorrow. I just got a two-bed Thursday-only room but will try to extend the dates on it tomorrow.
  18. WTF? Is that your vehicle, Volpe?
  19. Is that G a 360 motion? Holy shit, that's great.
  20. Milln, if you have room for a chair, that'd be great. If not, just let me know. Still trying to work things out.
  21. I want to go to KiT, but lack of executive chair might screw me here. In an odd situation...
  22. LOL. I don't use the analog stick at all in fighting games, so that joke gets my approval.
  23. Yeah, it was the twisty one. I heard a spring-like sound, blinked, and noticed the dpad part laying behind me on the floor. I was using it at the time for Call of Duty, and the fact that it sprung itself behind me was amazing.
