  1. I had a thought that was more positive. Those things are what made Makoto what she is. They might be taking them away, so that people have to play her and they can determine what she is really lacking to make her less gimmicky. Give her more solid fundamental options. Just a wild thought. On valk Changes: With the loss of wall bounce on those moves does that mean they just get pushed away like Makoto's 5D? I shouldn't be surprised at the damage nerf. He does get some pretty sick damage, especially once we maximize his combo's.
  2. No kidding. Makoto wasn't even that good of a character in the first place and they took it all away. I get that lightning arrow combos might be a little much but they didn't give her anything to really help her out. I won't complain but that really does neuter her. The big thing she had going was her damage and she doesn't really have a crazy mixup. I am curious as to the damage nerf on Valk and how much.
  3. While I agree, he has gotten some big names on his SF4 stream. After streaming anybody for awhile, last night he got Alex Valle, Juicebox, Liquid SRK and have Lamerboi and Atrocity regularly. So just streaming regular players for awhile, we might see some others jump on and that would be hype. At least those with an Xbox.
  4. I honestly don't know what to think after seeing that Platinum reveal. Bottles, huge Rockets, massive staff. Part of me wants to giggle uncontrollably at the absolute absurdity of it. I think I like Platinum.
  5. Check the lambda forum. There are more changes than listed here.
  6. Tao doesn't lose all her damage options. I believe she still has pretty good damage output without the tauntloop. It just isn't as high. I look forward to reading reactions from players that have tried the changes.
  7. In regards to loops, I can't see the parry loop staying, nor can I see the Taunt Loop staying. It seems intentional that they allowed Tao to use her taunt as a tool, seeing as it has a hitbox, and it is used in her trial combos (admittedly this was based on players finding those combos first). However, in the challenge mode, there is no taunt loop. They clearly know about it, so its absence is curious and I believe that particular loop is unintentional or removable based on the same reasons that Spirit points out above, it is a simple repetition. However, Lambda's corner loop is involved in her Trials, #9 to be precise. So either that is intentional or they don't want to take it out. I know going by what is in, or what is not in, challenge mode is clearly not a supremely accurate way to go by what might not stay in. But I do believe the developers had to think decently about what they wanted the challenges to be. Further, they probably had some ideas on what they wanted to remove from the game at the point they made them. TLDR Version: Parry/Taunt loop probably will go, while TK Crescent Saber loop will. I do find it interesting that half the cast is above B tier in this list.
  8. A throw is only purple if you are in hit or block stun when the throw connects.
  9. Boobs and an Angelic theme are a plus... There are really two things that bug the hell out of me with Tsubaki. First is the fact that when I get advantage I have to give up pressure to gain stock and she doesn't exactly have an amazing neutral game. And the fact she is half a character damage wise till she gets a stock and even then it doesn't create huge damage but damage that is only decent. And then go to the above point over and over. I WANT to like Tsubaki. I really do and I might still play with her some in the hopes they improve her. I also might just unlock unlimited Tsubaki and play her. I usually play with friends so it shouldn't be an issue and they have pretty much already said I could. Edit: They need a Lenneth color palette :D
  10. No kidding, but at least its warranted. I had my doubts about Tsubaki before it was released but people said she was fine....Well, after having played her and read some of the comments, we all know better. Too bad too, I like Tsubaki and I kinda like playing her but when I look at Ragna or another rushdown, they seem to do it all better.
  11. Makoto can only parry high and mid attacks. If she parries the 236236D distortion, you can then hit her low and she will lose it I believe.
  12. I am having trouble doing Lambdas. More because they tell me to use j.d,d, j.2d, d. I usually don't do j.2d,d so I have to relearn my hand inputs. I have done the combo's just fine using 2 j.d,d but doesn't pass the challenge. I do like how they are pretty much what you were supposed to use anyway. Now if I could just get the corner loop down...
  13. Honestly I was impressed with Tsubaki's story or rather involvement in the story. Most scenes with her were quite engaging like with Hakumen and Noel. I wonder what they might do to her in the next game with how she changed.
  14. That was my understanding as well. Tao is just as fast as ever and Lambda isn't as powerful as Nu, but got some nice changes to make her more well rounded. Nu had almost no reversal beyond bursts and a DD in CT, but in CS she has a DP and gained an air unblockable attack in act Parser C, I think. I think the added defensive options make it better for lambda than it might be without in CS.
  15. Those Videos I think prove a lot of the disappointment with Rachel in CS. I know we all know she is D tier but it was really depressing watching those Rachel players play amazing and get nothing for their efforts. That Black and White Rachel played fantastic a lot of those matches but just couldn't eek out wins against some people. It felt like her damage was non existent. But when Bang or Tao got those BIG damage combos and she lost over half her health.....sadness to work so hard and get nothing when it looked like Rachel played the better game overall. Now when that Default Rachel Perfected that Bang though
  16. Perhaps you could enlighten me as to the relative difference in tiers. The tier list below the current doesn't use as strong a scaling as the new one, which uses ABCD. In most tier lists I see, D is pretty damn bad and if you want to be competitive, you avoid them. This could just be how arcadia ranks it but I figured I would ask anyway. Doesn't the in depth review below give at least important match-ups or is it much too old to be of too much use, being it was last edited in 2008?
  17. Yay for Minnesota! If you guys are all in the twin cities, especially if your on the U of M campus, lets set up some matches
  18. Ah! I understand now. I don't see why you couldn't, though what I see in videos, lambda's use 2D to attack them in the air in an attempt to trap them and when I see that, it tends to be when someone is a corner so if you did it, you might corner yourself. I can't remember anyone doing that, but it could work.
  19. I remember reading in one of the loke test threads that parsers didn't go through people anymore. Since I never ready anything to the contrary I would assume that this is still the case. A is the non damage version correct? 236b version, I think is the right one, of act parser is very quick and I have seen it is used to stuff air moves, then lead to 6C, Air juggle. Don't remember if it was an IAD specifically but it did punish air well. Edit: The change to 236D makes me wonder what to use it for other than to put pressure on someone who you are already pressuring. So far in the videos I have seen it used very rarely. Most players seem to do a block string then use 214D to prevent a jump in and remove a guard primer. Interestingly, people spoke about how she might be good at removing guard primer but I don't think I have seen her actually break someone yet.
  20. While being patient is good, hazama is a new character who people didn't really understand. Lambda is still very similar to Nu and while I agree she was dramatically changed, I don't see how she would escalate in power compared to everyone else at this stage. Unlike Rachel, Lambda looks very playable, just not as good as the others but I don't see the same level of disparity between high and low tiers like in CT so I have some hope. The damage nerf was expected and she still seems to have decent damage, just not huge. I bemoan the loss of a command backdash as she seems to really get trapped now, with IB 4B and Gravity Well DP being her big defensive tools.
  21. Those videos make me quite happy. They didn't radically change her game play and now that I have seen full videos instead of just change logs, the interactions of the new moves expand her game play and options. I am quite satisfied with what I have seen
  22. How do you think Rachel feels :P I mentioned it once before but I will state again. I think what they did is over nerf and over buff respectively various characters on purpose. The reasoning is simple enough, it is easier to tone down that it is to ramp up. With two more planned location tests I am sure things will be fine
  23. It looks like she gets really close on act pulsars. In the bang vs. nu video I believe she went for the low version then got punished on block. The high attack one looks very nice for stopping aerial advance, like in the carl vs. Nu. Edit: Couldn't find the Bang video, but here is one with Act Pulsar being used on Jin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UX5eQWpH1E Found it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQYNufpyaHI Happens early on, but Bang does appear to get a 5a on her after the block.
  24. Depending on the invulnerability frames, it could be used as a defensive maneuver. I need to watch the video more to see how fast it is to start up. According to this: http://s1.zetaboards.com/blazblue/topic/2375101/1/ She is completely invincible during the Move and after watching the video they have of TD a few times, it has a start up similar to BBL.
  25. The damage does look rather low and it does seem like the objects move very slowly across the screen. Is Rachel able to be hit during it?
